I’m a professional middle weight four round boxer, who is soon gonna become champion of the world!

Yeah, right. And I’m a skinny wimp who goes to a Catholic school in the same city a a large Areva facility.

I mean, come on! At least be slightly realistic!

@Jerk: You are correct. It may sound completely stupid, but it is an actual threat. It’s kinda like beating down a soldier as he walks up the road, and getting charged with Sabotage.
@Jake: Good luck to you, man. My grandfather was Golden Gloves Champion for 6 years.

No lie, Jerk. His name was Phillip Bevins, look him up. His son, Phil Bevins Jr. was golden gloves 3 years, I think, and then won the local Tough Man contest 4 times. He has a son named Joe Bevins, who you may also come across, as he was in the paper many times for his Bluegrass and Old-time music at Fiddler’s conventions and the like. Best part of that is that Joe is only about 8 now.

It’s funny, I would have expected a resident of the space station to have better things to do with their time than be on here of all places…

But then I asked myself what I would do if I was in space, and after “play with 0 g’s for a while” and “get work done”, I realized that internets is a close third. This is of course assuming zero g sex is out of the question.

I’m a full time student, but for a scholarship I have to work a certain amount a week at a school orientated job. I work at a daycare my college runs and work with toddlers around 2 years old. Sadly I don’t get paid other than the scholarship money, but it helped make me actually get PAID to go to college due to the leftover money so I feel it’s worth it. I’m hoping to manage to get a part time job inserted into that schedule too, but I’m having trouble figuring out how I’ll manage time for anything else haha.

Awwwww. But it’s funny to see you turn around in hopeless attempts to locate me. The only way you even know I’m here is because I keep laughing at all the stuff you delete before you post. Like that one about the rabbi in the Nazi brothel. I can see why you didn’t post that one.

@happeh: The only woman up here has impeccable aim, and I value my balls. Yea, Zero-G is a blast, until you crack your head off a few walls. Shit, even then its fun. And as far as work, there are so many of us up here, compared to the work load, that you find yourself with a lot of free time. Incidentally, zero-g is great on a bad back. Though I do keep wondering Why it is that I wake up in the air, and assume I’m dreaming :)

ITT: We talk about how awesome the resident astronaut at BCB forum is.

Though, hey Nero, how did you ever get into the program? Was it your childhood dream set from your fourth birthday? Or is it more like “ah, I can take this path, I’ll go along to see what happens”?

Man, and I thought Taiwan was too exotic a place to come from. Nero comes from goddamn outer space.

Ryan September 14, 2010, 2:35 PM EST.

Comment ID #91130

@ryan: I found myself always fascinated, if intimidated by space. Just the simple fact that everything we know is no bigger than an atom in the ocean is unbelievable. I wanted to go and experience everything that it was for myself. So, out of highshcool, I joined the airforce, then after several years there I got into NASA. Apply several more years of friggin’ intense training, and I find myself enjoying the unobscured view of the literally billions of stars. Oh, and that thing about seeing the great wall of China from space is bullshit, you need a hi-res satellite camera to see it.
Also: New pic! http://s838.photobucket.com/albums/zz306/ Nero_Amatam/?action=view&current=Lights.jpg

Holy shit that’s awesome. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was in 6th grade, but I realized then that I would never be tall enough so that dream had to die. :( I love the stars and planets and stuff.

LaCommie! September 14, 2010, 8:17 PM EST.

Comment ID #91149

Hee. I still want to be an astronaut. ^_^

And wow, Nero, that is a magnificent picture. I wish I could see that.

But can you tell me how close to Earth you have to be to see the Great Wall of China? I know you can’t see it from the Moon (my childhood consisted of rather too much misinformation ^_^), but I had the impression that it was visible when in close orbit.

ILB September 14, 2010, 8:26 PM EST.

Comment ID #91170

The great wall is long, but not very wide. You would have to be in the atmosphere to be able to see it. Even from very low orbit, it would still not be visible from space.

Sorry.

There is a free two week trial to see if you like it.

As far as time is concerned, there is a clock set here, we tell days by the clock going ‘round twice, but without a dedicated clock-watcher, the system doesn’t work well. Dunno why they don’t just give us a damn digital clock set for military time.
