Could you kill someone?

Why, exactly, would I be smiling? ^_^

And… whose blood was that?

ILB September 29, 2010, 3:52 PM EST.

Comment ID #97649

I have no problem with killing anyone who is a serious threat to me or my family.

espically if they hurt my family… i would make them die in a way that others would fear… perhaps impalment or decapitation.

@ ILB: Whose indeed? O_o

J. Vincero (Jerk) September 29, 2010, 4:50 PM EST.

Comment ID #97682

I was asking because it was just the slightest bit unclear whether I would be covered in the blood of the threatener or the threatened. ^_^

Oh well. It is highly unlikely either way.

ILB September 29, 2010, 4:52 PM EST.

Comment ID #97700

The threatener of course, but I don’t know what you do in moments of blacked out rage….

And you would be smiling because you always smile.

I don’t doubt that Commie could kill.

The thought of her doing so is semi-erotic, imho. Kill Bill outfit and all.

Gabriel Kaxbe September 29, 2010, 5:18 PM EST.

Comment ID #97707

Isn’t that a scary thought though? I don’t think anyone who has been on this forum for a sufficient amount of time would doubt that I could kill someone.

I could tottaly see ILB going on a black out rampage. She’d kill them with kindness.

As for me? Give me a rifle and a scope. Me or him? He goes down.

If hes after a loved one…give me a rocket launcher.

In the words of my brother: “They may FIND the remains, but I can promise you they will NEVER identify them”

Plus, and Im not proud of this, Ive developed the ability to emotionally detach myself from almost any situation. I could probably crack a neck with my bare hands and not feel a twinge of remorse. Thankfully, im not a violent person.

If i was…well..thats what the army and video games are for

Trev September 29, 2010, 5:27 PM EST.

Comment ID #97715

Heh, all you pansies are talking like if you were ever in this situation that you would have a gun to kill them with. Give me a pen and I’ll get the job done. If I don’t have a pen I’ll make sure the bastards can’t see by gouging their eyes out with my thumbs if they even think about hurting one of my loved ones.

if it was just me or him and nothing else at stake, no. but because of all the things i plan to do for the world that puts more at stake. it also depends on whether or not i have a vendetta against said person.

to quote the chronicles of riddick: “soup cup”

yah. anyways, i would kill without remorse, with anything, knowing that i have done something for the greater good. or my family. or myself.

if i was just killin’ for the sake “o” killin’, well… i might feel bad afterwords.

But I would not be smiling if I had just taken a life. ^_^

I still do not believe that I could have murdered somebody. No matter how angry I get (actually, I stopped feeling anger years ago. I’m quite happy about that ^_^), or what the situation might be, I really am not that kind of person. And no, you cannot convince me otherwise. Sorry. ^_^

In a related note the recipe for home made napalm is styrofoam melted in a container of gasoline with just a touch of kerosine to help solidify into its gel state

Warning.. Do not attempt…. it sticks to EVERYTHING,

Well unless someone wants you dead then by all means go for it.

Never shoot to kill.
Shoot to disarm or disable, that means aim for a limb, or a non-vital organ, like maybe one of their kidneys.
I’m a pretty good shot with a rifle, so I could probably hit them in the kneecaps if I needed to.

I am not particularly beholden to the concept that human life is wonderful and precious and magical except in a subjective sense. It’s a revolving door: tens of thousands born every day, tens of thousands die. No justice to survival or anything, just wits, strength or raw chance.

That said, a lot of those people are roughly innocent, lead roughly normal lives. I struggle to see rapists / murderers / child molesters as anything above cattle. There are people like that, and I can’t bring myself to place any value on their lives, their health, anything. They’re just vegetables as far as I’m concerned. And I fight that part of me that could dehumanize someone to that point, I really try, but the more I see the more convinced I become.

@Jerk: I consider almost everyone to be like cattle… it comes with my job.

Along with a razor sharp “retardar” which can detect profound lack of concious, cognitive, thinking from 11km away without error. In fact there are precisely 204 people performing or thinking about performing something exceptionally stupid within 11km of me right now.

It seemse that faith in the human race is out of fashion these days. We are not that bad, are we? ^_^

ILB September 30, 2010, 6:55 PM EST.

Comment ID #98163

When humanity produces a population the fears the risk of dying in a car accident more than the risk of dying from flu, then I’ll give it consideration.

Producing a single decent partner in life would make me happy too but now I’m just being selfish :D

happehface September 30, 2010, 7:30 PM EST.

Comment ID #98173

But really, many people do die by the flu each and every year. Granted, the swine incarnation did strangely little in comparison to the regular one, but it is a real threat.

Whereas cars… People die in motor accidents because they fall asleep at the wheel, or because they are drunk. The majority of automobile crashes come from that very reason. Which is why regular people would not do well in fearing that a collision could occur any minute they are driving; it would be paralysing rather than preventative. The risk of death is also significantly lowered by wearing a seatbelt, and this is why most people who are normally concerned with safety are quite secure when they drive.

ILB September 30, 2010, 7:46 PM EST.

Comment ID #98200

I’d leave it to chance, I couldn’t bring myself to kill someone just so I could live.

However, if he tried to kill me that’s a completely different story. I’d shoot him ;D

This society will answer with a reflex “Yes” and promptly empty the chamber of its six-shooter into the face of Al-Queda after which it goes home to its family, eats a steak and reverently lowers its American flag.

ILB October 1, 2010, 10:22 AM EST.

Comment ID #98756

i dunno. a growing portion.
and human nature is that bad. my basic instincts want glory, to be remembered, more than anything. i could very easily have turned into a psychopath with a gun in a school. it all depends on upbringing. right now society is all well and good, but it will eventually swing back into another medieval period in which slaughter, rape, and hatred reign supreme.

kazimierz (kazi) October 1, 2010, 9:03 PM EST.

Comment ID #98767

But the medieval period was never as bad as it is perceived in our society. The enlightenment philosophers of the modern age had to find some way of thinking themselves better than what had been before. ^_^

Also, Kazi, consider this: You did not turn into a psychopath. Yes, I know that darkness lurks in the hearts of man (and woman, let me tell you ^_^), but the fact that we can contemplate and understand our thoughts and actions, and even control them, remains conclusive proof that humans are not evil. Not like that, anyway.

Society and upbringing do have a lot of influence on how people act, but who built that society and founded that upbringing? People, that is who. ^_^

ILB October 1, 2010, 9:12 PM EST.

but thats just it. i almost became that monster on many occasions. it was always someone else who saved me.(you can probably guess who)
and it really was that bad.
warrior cultures were based on raiding and acquiring all you need by killing the ones who produce the goods and taking them for yourself.
history is cyclical. (dont know how to spell that word) and we are very much in a cycle equivalent to roman or greek. we have teetered on the edge of nuclear war, and will again.
not to mention that most people are sheep, afraid to stand against the powers that be for their beliefs. (hitler, stalin, and a near infinite number of others in the past.)
EDIT: we are not evil, we just care little for others.
