So, we were talking in the irc last night, and I mentioned how I'd rather be called "sweet" than "hot." So that got me thinking...

If your crush was going to compliment you, would you want them to say they liked YOU or that they liked your BODY? Also, which one do you think they'd be more likely to complement you on?

People always comment on my lovely hair, so I would think that to be the most likely happening. ^_^

Still. I am normally not too concerned with how I look, and when people do compliment me on it I always feel that I do not warrant it. Hence I would rather have my crush consider my personality rather than my appearance when saying positive things.

People always compliment me on my smile. So if my crush (I don't really have one at the moment...) were to compliment anything about me, I'd want it to be about anything but my smile. :/ I wish people would notice my personality more often.

I'd like to comment on your lovely hair, too. :3

Well uh, I dunno. I don't think anyone could be physically attracted to me anyway. In fact, I'd assume that such a person had some mental problems.

So personality/personality.

I don't even care all that much about how I look, apart from washing my hair if it's greasy. But that's only because long, greasy hair is so incredibly annoying to have.
(Okay, I try to look sorta 'normal' but that's about all I do. I mean, if I wore, say, my trollface mask, I wouldn't go anywhere public. Apart from school if we had that thing again.

Don't ask why I have a trollface mask on my wall. It's a silly thing.)

Edit: People seem to notice my personality well enough. Quite a lot of people find me incredibly annoying.

People seem to find me annoying as well, but they always seem to see me with my friends, and when I'm with my friend I'm ALWAYS goofing around. If people were to see me when I'm not acting like an idiot they'd really like who I am. That's why if my crush was going to compliment me I'd like them to compliment me on my personality rather then my looks. (because I don't look that great anyway) I know my parents say "your a handsome young man" I don't think I'm handsome, I think I'm just your average teenage boy, and I'm fine with that. :-*

Personality & personality...there's just the problem of me having a rather what's the word...um...cynical personality...
  • #6

I quite like it when girls I crush on like my sense of humor. It means that they too are dorks ^_^;;
  • #7

I'd like it if they just enjoyed my presence...
  • #8

Intelligence.

I'm not that good looking, so my personality is all I got, and so I enjoy hearing that its pulling the dead-weight that is my looks.

Edit: This is why I like the internet, I can pass of all negative comments as trolls[or something] and can take to heart anything positive said about me, so its a win-win :smirk:

I'd say my voice, but everybody compliments me on my voice. Ho hum.

I'd really like for someone to compliment my taste in music. Music matters a lot to me and if I could find someone who likes my taste I'd be a happy man.

I'd prefer if someone would compliment my looks, it's only happened a few times in my life.
I'm used to people saying 'Ohh, you're really sweet!' or 'You're really polite.'....
My personality is usually complimented.

Hmm... This topic is really somewhat sad. ^_^

*hugs all for being good-looking and having nice personalities*

I'd prefer to be complemented on my personality (humor, intelligence, kindness, etc.). I also think it's more likely to happen (or at least, anecdotal evidence points to that).

However, it's always nice to be commented on my looks because I don't get it often. (Not putting myself down; I'm happy with my looks, but don't hear about them.)

As C.S. Lewis once said, "You don't have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body." While he wasn't speaking on this topic, the quote is still applicable.

Anyway, I already know I look less then handsome, so I do not care all that much about compliments in that area. It does have the effect of making compliments on my body more… powerful? When honest, they do make me feel good, but really, I would much prefer a person enjoy who I am rather than what I look like. I do try to look my best, but I don't care so much for my appearance that I would prefer people compliment that part of me.
Besides, I am my favorite joke; why would I want to take away some of my best material? I mean, no one is going to laugh if I say, "I'm just so attractive!" and it's not sarcastic.

I know what you mean! I actually shaped up a little while ago. Pretty much my whole group of friends has Ugly Duckling Syndrome. I used to lo0ve self deprecating humor, but it's becoming difficult to make manboob jokes. But not too difficult. Still got at least an A-cup. 8-)

My eyes (which is 9/10 what i'm already complimented on already)

that, or my ass personality #^_^#

I have basically the exact same reasoning.

Show them to me and I'll compliment them.

Pretty much anything but my eyes or my hair. :|
  • #21

I'd prefer personality because I would be worried about her standards with she complimented my physical appearance.
  • #22

My personality. There's not much discussion on that for me. Being more specific, I love when people say I'm funny. :D
  • #23

My personality. I usually receive compliments for that. :D so I appreciate them more than a compliment on how I look, considering I put much effort in being nice than looking good...
  • #24

The funny part is I geT complimented on my looks MORE than my personality
  • #25

Why the hell do you bump everything.

Seriously. Stop it.
  • #26

People say I look exactly like may from pokemon. That's a problem because I hate may

Old thread is old.

I almost want to say looks... I personally find myself quite attractive, but the comments I get from people that were/are romantically interested in me is that I am too thin and they would prefer seeing me gain like 10 or even 20 pounds... although at this point I take "God you are way too thin" as almost a compliment... it is the only way that it feels like an honest opinion when it is in the form of an insult.

Yes of course I want to be liked for the character of my person but thinking I am good looking and then being told otherwise is kind of a slap in the face. I am trying very hard to not sound so conceited here. I do not think it is working...

Stilbini, you're fine. You responded to a bumped thread, but at least you actually like, contributed and shit. The Moronic One keeps bumping things months and months old and posting crap.

Ah, thank you... I fear my attempts to not anger anyone on the Internet often lead me to angering people on the Internet, I appreciate your kindness :).
  • #31

Ya know, I can't think of a compliment..'Cause I've never had a crush....But I am sure I can think of one soon XD
  • #32

People say I have nice eyes and I look at them with my death stare.
  • #33

Just having my crush tell me she is thinking of me would really make my day.
  • #34

Hey Fighter, I'm thinking of you.
