Hee. Well, "has suddenly became" is rather obvious. I would think they know enough about concord (sic) to do at least that correctly. ^_^

Excuse me while I make that never happen.

Wouldn't NYC be expensive in terms of accomodations? I'm not sure about Chicago in that regard either.

The way I see it, there are several problems which need to be overcome in regard to a potential BCBcon. First is, I don't think this comic attracts nearly enough readers who would be willing to go to a BCBcon. Second is, many readers are under the age of 18, and parental consent would be needed. Third is, many readers are young people and may not necessarily have the money to attend, particularly if they have to travel.

I'm probably forgetting some other things too, since I've never been part of a con myself. Organization is a big thing though, and can be a veritable pain in the neck, from what I've heard from people who have planned cons. Hotel rooms need to be booked, fun events/outings need to be planned, people need to commit and pay in advance, etc.

A BCBcon can certainly be tried out, but I'm not entirely certain it's worth it to the creators to travel from Australia just to meet a handful of people. Though maybe it's also a chance for them to meet up with family and friends residing in the USA, in which case a con located conveniently close by might work. NYC is close to New Jersey, for example.

Also, everyone forgot Roseville, MN. Although Roseville, MI probably fits better in terms of story location.

I must admit if it WAS in Roseville, Michigan that would be pretty interesting. But first Tae needs to tell us if this is Roseville in Michigan, Minnesota, or California. All of which snow.

Carmen, help me convince them that we need to have it in Chattanooga, beautiful city, I can show us around downtown, and most importantly; BEAST FEAST.

Well, if anything, Yappy, you made it more obvious by fixing it. ^_^

Chattanooga is most definitely a beautiful city! It's big enough but at the same time is not HUGEHUGE like NYC and Chicago and will be more affordable hotel/etc wise when compared to these bigger cities as well! PLUS THERE'S A MOTHERFUCKING AQUARIUM. Plus Commie is there and can show us around like she said :V.

but...but I dont wanna go to Tennesee ._. I promised my self I would never step foot in the bible belt. Than again Im just a member here :|
  • #58

Awww. I just realised that even if this Con is held in the state next to mine it will cost too much money for me! My family went on a trip to Tennessee for a vacation after my dad's wedding and money was tight till the middle of this month. You all will have to enjoy this eventual BCBCon without me. ;_;

Tennessee is beautiful and so are a lot of the other bible belt states. You aren't going to be with the bible pushers anyway as I think most of the BCB community is out of the religion scene. And it's not like it is on TV shows where they run around thumpin in your face wherever you go, haha.

Oh, the Bible belt is far from as bad as people make it out to be. People have a tendency to flanderise things they do not know. ^_^

True, people do like to put their own twist on things.
I once told my gandpa that I thought "everything you ever say will be misinterpreted"
and he concluded that their was no point talking to anyone then.

BCBCon is an ironic name, it would be a get-together of 8-20 people most likely. I do kind of intend on posting a more serious topic about this later.

It's only $100 for me to fly from San Francisco to Los Angelos. I don't see the big deal here :|

But I guess it's been settled at Tennesse anyways ._. ah well, if most of you guys want to do it there than you should. I'd be a whiny little bitch if I tried to complain about it. Have fun :-* (considering this'll actually happen)
  • #80

SuitCase is, in all likelyhood, joking about the location (maybe). Although I do like the idea of munchin' on a turkey leg and floatin' down the river. Banjo music would be nice, too.

If this does go ahead then could there be a webcam or something for all the fans who can't attend but still wanna see some of the action?

That would be kind of creepy ._. walking around doing stuff with friends while being watched by many people you don't know.

I vote for Roseville, MN. (Actually I voted for Texas because that would be cheaper and is in the middle, East-West wise, of the contry)

If you do deciede to have a convention I would sugest the following:

1. Have it at a hotel/convention center with a water park so that the attendees have something fun to do in their free time.

2. It should be more of a meet and greet then a full fledged convention. Activities could be a Q/A sesion with Taeshi and SuitCase, meet the other forum members, Taeshi giving a demostration of the process of making BSCB, ect.

3. Rent just one convetion room as the convention gathering place and where the above activities occur.

4. It would be a good idea to make it a 2 day con instead of a 3 day.

5. Try to find somewhere that will not be to expensive for the average person to stay. NY hotels are pretty expensive.

On a side note, I have some connections with two anime conventions in the upper midwest and I can ask around and see what the possibility of getting you guy's invited to one of those.

Yes, perhaps the term 'convention' is something of a misnomer. I was really thinking more in terms of a small informal get-together. When I said "a handful of people", I meant it. That's about what you realistically can expect. You should start small anyway, and go from there.

JHawkNH's suggestions are good, except that I wouldn't even bother renting a meeting room. Too much money. Just meet in a local park, under a tree, close to a river. 8-)
  • #91

Hahahahhahaahhahah Yes, Beast Feast it is! XD

@ Wacko where would it be

The location is likely to be in an area where there is a reasonably high number (say 15 or more) of BCB fans who indicate they have the interest/money/ability to attend a meet-up. This should allow for a decent gathering, even if some fans later find they are unable to attend for whatever reason.

There might also be other factors influencing the creators' choice of location, such as travel convenience, personal reasons, etc.

Perhaps Taeshi and SuitCase should narrow it down to a few good candidate cities, pick a tentative date, and post a poll on the main page. After all, there are more BCB fans than just those who post here in the forums, and it would be good to have a larger sample size in order to make a final decision.

Bonus points if the voting occurs in tandem with the current student elections storyline in BCB.

I'd actually suggest Chicago (because I am a faggot and live there :-* ) and because it is quite a wonderful city and we can visit the Willis Building and Navy Pier and all that jazz.

Assuming the "convention" extends for a week or so?
  • #98

I would be arrested within the first thirty minutes of being in Chicago.
Probably something along the lines of "sexually harassing and misrepresenting the weight of an undercover cop."
  • #99

I live in Australia, and as such, I couldn't actually come if it was out of the country.
