Old Toys

So, yesterday (seeing as how it's 2am now) I took a trip to Dollar tree after going to dinner.
After getting the garden work stuff I needed, I couldn't help but go to their toy section.
After walking past the normal toys (FBI play sets, cards, balls, etc.), I stumbled upon something I haven't seen in forever.

A F**KING WHEEL-O!! That's right! A WHEEL-O!! Here's a video for those who don't know what that is:

Not cool huh? Well as a kid this BLEW MY MOTHA F**KIN MIND! I would sit for hours and hours on end just trying to figure out how it worked. (I came to the conclusion of F**KING MIRACLES)

Well, after I stopped having a flashback/spazz attack in the middle of the store, I went ahead and bought it (It was only a buck, so why not?). I got home and immediately busted that bad boy open, and I've been playing with it on and off for the past few hours. This got me memorizing some other toys I had as a kid.

Anyone remember the following?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hot Wheels
Posted Image

Tamagotchi
Posted Image

Furby (a.k.a The Devil's Spawn (when low on batteries))
Posted Image

Toby Terrier (an interactive pet that responded to this VHS)
Posted Image

Thomas the Tank Engine
Posted Image

Slinky
Posted Image

Polaroid Camera (f**k you, it was a toy to me)
Posted Image

McDonalds Playsets
Posted Image

Bucket O' Soldiers
Posted Image

LEGOS
Posted Image

Cardboard Box (F**K YEAH! IMAGINATION!)
Posted Image

and there's more, but i can't think at the moment (like i said, 2am :| )
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, what are some of your childhood toys? Post them here (preferred with a video or pic :))

and yes, I am playing with that Wheel-O while foruming XD

Me and my dad collect Hot Wheels. There's actually a huge case in the game room with my collection. I'll post a pic sometime.

So I'm not the only one :O
I have 3 cases at my grandparents house that have hot wheels from the beginning all the way to the new ones. :D

Cardboard boxes ftw! If I get the chance, i'd be hiding in there as soon as possible!
Furby's were evil. I had one and gave it away, far too creepy for me!
Pokemon!! That was my biggest thing from childhood!
Also, that cup n ball game, that was so impressive to me :D

Lego isn't a toy. It's a way of fucking life, man. I've still got, like, six tons of the stuff just sitting around.

Yup, I was a massive Power Rangers fan, when I was little. I had pretty much all the available toys and merchandise, but this is the toy I remember the most fondly.

The plural of LEGO is not LEGOs.
Oh, and Sammy, I challenge you to a LEGO-off. I bet I have more than you.

At LEAST 100,000 bricks.

I loved legos. Do something with the instructions, disassemble, make something of your own.

Like saying
"Look at all the deer!"
I think it's suppose to be LEGOS :nope:

It's not fucking LEGOS. It's "Lego". You wouldn't say "Look at all the fishes", would you? Unless you're retarded or something. One Lego, some Lego.

Yes. Just like deer. Except you can't shouldn't eat LEGO.

If you must use a plural noun, use LEGO bricks, in which case LEGO becomes a quantifying adjective.

Also, lets not fuck LEGO. Wouldn't that hurt?

That said, MEGABLOKs can be pluralised, because they are an evil corporation that ruthlessly stole the LEGO patent and is trying to corrupt the children of today's society by saying the brands don't matter.

Actually "Fishes" is accurate when one is speaking of multiple different species of fish at once.
  • #24

But there is only one LEGO

There can only be one.

That's just nitpicking. If you were talking about a lot of fish, indiscriminate of species, you would say "That's a lot of fish!"

Here, have some Kool and the Gang to balance it out.

Yes it is. A Yu-Gi-Oh segment series came out in the early 2000's (I'm thinking 2002). I only own one from that series. The one pictured is a two-pack released in 2003. Not sure though as the car on the left debuted in 2003 and newly debuted cars don't usually make it into a special series.

Man i wonder why they don't do cool toys as the old times. Also, LEGO is awesome! 8-)

i spent my childhood playing with water-based canal toys in the garden for hours until i discovered television, where i pretty much just watched the weird shit the people did and never listened to it. THEN i discovered computer where i played this really old game called SIMCopter which involved flying around in a bubble helicopter rescuing sick people from the streets. (which is bollocks because a helicopter is way too overkill and they shouldnt be on the streets anyway) then moved on to Hellcopter, which was like simcopter only with better graphics, military helicopters and sh*t blew up and there wuz bullets and rockets and stuff. And it all went downhill from then on...

  • #43

^ That only signifies it's first edition. I've got tons of those. I probably have over 1000 cards total. Didn't bother to count.
  • #44

Oh God, I still have so many boxes of old legos and those Bionicle things lying around XD

As kids, me and my brother also had dozens of Thomas the Tank Engine and Hot wheels sets but we later gave those away to our younger cousins as we got older (why chuck it out when you can give it to someone who will enjoy it?).

My closet and shed are filled with boxes of old lego and bionicle parts and various models. One of my favourite creations, which was created from the parts of 5 or 6 other bionicle models, is actually still on desk desk/shelf above my laptop. 8-D

The grammar nazi and LEGO enthusiast inside me is screaming in torturous pain at all these improper constructions of the plural of LEGO.

Also, BIONICLE was not separate from LEGO, it was in fact a distinct product line.
