Semi-Lucid Zombie Dream

This is a retelling of an interesting dream I had, reworked in a way that would make it more interesting to read. Before I go into detail about the dream, I would like to take a moment to explain something. You may have noticed that the title mentions a dream as being "Semi-Lucid". I describe it as "semi-lucid" because while I was in control, just like a lucid dream, I wasn't in control of all aspects of the dream. The whole dream was basically a back-and-forth between my brain and me. Think of it as a game of chess. This was a rather long dream, and it took place in many different locations, or venues. Each thread post will be from a different location.

Venue One: A Home in Crestview

I had just gotten home from classes. I went through my normal routine, trying my best to avoid the disapproving stares from my mother. She was not particularly happy about the choices that I made, but at the same time she knew that I was somewhat of a victim of my own circumstances. My sister was studying at her desk. Finals were coming up soon, so she started to cram. I, on the other hand, was lucky enough not to have any final exams. Instead, I had projects to turn in. I sat down at my desk and that was when I felt a pang in the back of my head. My sister had thrown a yellow Frisbee at my head. I decided not to engage in any craziness and decided to use my time to simply review some notes for my Earth Sciences project. When I got bored of that, I thought how nice it would be if we had a guest.

And that's when the doorbell rang.

It was my friend Byron with his sister, Gelina. They said that they were going to be spending a few days at our house, so I welcomed them in and showed them to the guest room. We did what we usually did when we were together. We'd watch some movies and play some video games as my parents prepared all of our favorite foods. It may have been just me missing my two dear friends or maybe just the stress from final projects, but I really needed that. When we were playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I accidentally hit my head against the coffee table and blacked out.

When I came to, I was in my room. The vibrant colors that usually held in it were now dull. There was an ax on my desk. I grabbed the ax because I thought it looked interesting. I went to my door. It was locked.

Unlock.

The door unlocked quickly and instead of the usual hallway, there was now a huge hole in the floor, leading to the hallway below. Something wasn't right.

Fix.

Nothing happened.

Tools.

Nothing happened. This was strange. Was I no longer in control? Then how was I able to unlock the door earlier?

Fly.

I tried to leap across the large gap, but instead of floating, I fell straight down. Obviously, I couldn't have everything I wanted. I decided to investigate. In the kitchen, the food was still there. Some of it was now splattered in blood. If only there was some indication of what exactly happened here.

I turned around, there was writing on the cabinet. Blood writing. It read "They are not the same, behead them - Byron". This wasn't enough.

I turned to the refrigerator. On it was a message "Zombies - Ka" Now this was something I could go with.

I need more weapons

I opened the cabinet and there was a baseball bat, a katana, several firearms, and grenades.

I need an easy way to store and carry these

I found my backpack. It worked as an infinite storage of sorts, like the inventory of a video game character.

Let's do this

The zombies appeared. I recognized their faces. It was my family and friends. They had changed. I used the ax to behead my mother and quickly turned around in time to slice off my father's head. I then dropped the ax for a bit and pulled out the shotgun and aimed at Byron's head, quickly reloaded and shot my sister. Grasping a pistol in my other hand, I shot Gelina in the kneecaps and drew the katana and beheaded her. I made my way to the garage, making sure to pick up my ax along the way. Inside was an unfamiliar person, who I assumed was the zombie responsible. The person lunged at me with wild eyes. I was too slow to draw a weapon, and the zombie pinned me to the ground.

Help.

I heard a gunshot. When I opened my eyes and wiped the gore from my face, I saw through the hole in the zombie's head and saw Sue and David standing there. Sue was holding the gun, David wielded a chainsaw.

"Let's get going," said Sue. We got in my dad's car and drove off.

I have dreams that could turn into movies every night. They are really long, so sometimes I get halfway finished and pick up the next night or so.

Whe way you wrote it, it looks like ZORK.

@RedJack: It's a dream. Get over it.

Venue 2: Orlando - UCF Campus

I explained to Sue and David that I wanted to check on my friends in Orlando. So far, it seemed that the outbreak was mostly contained in Crestview. Upon arriving on the campus of the University of Central Florida, we made our way to the Student Union. Something was wrong. It was a school day, and yet there was no one walking around the campus. David said, "This is weird. No one is here. It's almost like a zombie nes-"

Just then, David's jugular was being gnawed upon by my former resident assistant. David was screaming in pain. I drew a shotgun and shot at the zombie, but it was too late. We had lost David to the undead. Sue and I ran into the Student Union, choosing to run through the nature path.

Faster.

Sue found some bikes and we quickly started pedaling. Where are these zombies coming from!?, I thought. Just then, three zombies appeared before us. I recognized them as my roommates from my first year at UCF. We quickly turned and took a less used path. The three roommate zombies started to catch up with us. Despite their looks, they were quite fast.

"Shoot at them!" Sue screamed. I withdrew one of my pistols from my backpack and started firing at the zombies behind me.

Fire.

My bullets ricocheted off the metal lamp posts, causing a few sparks. Soon, the dry underbrush was on fire, trapping the three zombies. Upon making it into the student union, we walked to the food court, famished. Unfortunately, the restaurants were closed. "What do we do now?" asked Sue.

Employee opens Burger King.

"Hey there, I'm just about to open, what would you guys like to eat?" said a tall, Asian student.

"I'll have some chicken tenders," I said. Sue ordered a salad. "So, why are you in such a rush?" the boy asked.

"Did you not see the zombies!?"

"What zombies?"

Just then, the south and east doors of the food court burst open. Coming in from both sides were hordes of zombies. "Run!" Sue yelled. The Asian boy ran behind us. I threw him a shotgun and a pistol. We dashed towards the north door and made our way to the roof of the building, gunning down the zombies that followed from the stairs. Upon making it to the ceiling, we bolted the doors and look down at the ground. There were thousands of zombies rushing into the Student Union. "Where did all these zombies come from!?" screamed the Asian boy.

Just then, we heard a weird moaning noise. We turned around and saw the dean of admissions. He had been turned into a zombie. The door was still bolted. How did this zombie get here!? I thought to myself.

Just as I thought that, another zombie appeared from behind the Student Union billboard. Three more zombies appeared form the same location. Seven more appeared in front of a blocked off ceiling vent. There was no way we could keep fighting off these zombies.

We need to escape.

Just then a helicopter appeared and dropped down a ladder. The Asian boy climbed up first, followed by me. Sue, however, was too far away from the ladder and was quickly surrounded by the zombies.

Help her

Nothing.

Help her!

Nothing.

HELP HER

There was nothing I could do except watch in horror as she joined the mass of mindless killers.
