Even Flow-Pearl Jam

Definitely a definitive early grunge song. It has energy, a dirty sound and of course, the very fitting Eddie Vedder tone. I would say, though, that Pearl Jam have many songs that are better, particularly from the third album and onwards, and this one is perhaps a bit too definitive for the grunge movement - it is not a particular standout, although it was certainly a good stepping stone. Still, I hand it an 8/10.

  • #202

I found this pretty catchy. 8/10

  • #203

6/10, The guitar on the song is pretty good but, even my nostalgia can't make this song great...

  • #204

5/10, didn't like it for some reason. Maybe it's just not a style I like.

ENDLESSLY, I CAN'T STOP THIS
(If this came up in the thread already, it deserves a place just because I'm playing it. Looping infinitely)

3/10 Dislike the tune, and I really can't stand most songs in foreign languages.

Well, the song was made after regaining independence after getting occupied by communists for the second time. The song is about enjoying life after war and protecting your country. Very patriotic. Most hate songs like this =/ .

Dat glitchy phone.

9.455555/10 to Pitney. I love 50's - 60's oldies, sometimes lyrics can sound a bit naïve ... but , well, old times were simplier, some say. I dont give it a full score, just because I recognize Italian ballads as superior than American's. HEH, the video came with a Lay's ad :P

Weird Al is pretty awesome with parodies

Don't like rape smash? :D
  • #218

7/10 Funny or mildly amusing depending on segment. Problem is I can't give a spoof song top ratings, since it's not meant to be a serious song and it always shows. Ninjaed.

2/10, Draixen. When I can't sit through even a whole minute of a song, you know it's obnoxious.

This next song should have been a single, but instead we got Another Way to Die.

Spoiler

OK, yeah, I'm done with this. Getting swiped again is just annoying now.

And then I wrote some stuff!
Spoiler

BUT THEN SOMEONE ELSE POSTED. OK. REVIEW SONG THREE.

OK, it has a wonderful slowness to it, but it seems to enjoy breaking up that slow feeling with random jumpiness. I mean, this is a great slow song. The drums are actually very good and stand out a bit, which is normally not the case. But the singing... kind of falls flat. I mean, I feel like he could put some more emotion into these lines, as it just feels like he's just kind of hitting them. And then that guitar solo I guess it was? Eh. I mean, it wasn't really anything of note, and adding nothing to the song. Why was it there? I guess it was just... there. And then the same lines again and it ends.
Same issue as before. Good, but not really good enough to warrant adoration.
6/10.

Ah, one of the great orchestral works of early Romanticism. It has been overused and abused and mistreated by every form of musical group there is, yet it persists due to its own stature. The melody and rhythm tug powerfully at you as you listen to it, and you get a real sense that there are great things afoot. Or ahoof, considering how it has been used up through the years.

Overall, I am nearly forced to give it a perfect score - because the melody, the setting, the mood it conveys, the instrumentation, the harmonies and the percussive elements all join together to create a marvel of a piece. That said, it is not perfect and outstanding in all of these respects individually; but nonetheless, the entirety, the complete impression, gets so much better. I would not wish this to have as advanced harmonics as Arnold Schönberg's 'Transfigured Night', nor as complicated a setup as Mahler's symphonies, because it does perfectly well what it should do, and more. Hence: 10/10.

ILB, I am surprised and gratified. 9/10.

6/10 Not really a fan of that... what is that, Eurobeat or some kind of techno? Then it just kind of turns into stuff I associate with generic pop songs so... Regardless, I don't like it that much, but the singer has a really nice voice.

  • #235

You know, I never really liked this style of music, but for the sheer beauty of her voice I will give this a well-deserved 9/10.

Skip ahead to 0:54 to hear the actual piece.
