8/10. I'm a sucker when it comes to combining guitar riffs with a synth accompaniment. I actually don't remember John Parr, yet this song sounds so familiar. Almost like it should be on a Rocky Balboa soundtrack.

This... This is one of my favourite songs of all time, in the original version. Sting's voice is magnificent, and he is fantastically creative in his music; his take on more traditional forms of jazz is no less so. All in all, the song gives a proper and wholesome picture of what it tries to convey: A dignified gentleman in the middle of an unknown, or at least unfamiliar place. Although the good mood is broken with the drum break, I still feel it has a place there, though - as an effect akin to the timpani in Haydn's Surprise Symphony. ^_^

So the original would get full marks from me. However, this version is... somewhat weaker. The clarinet is less sublime, the sound quality is lower and the drum break less effective. So I give it a 9/10.

Now, for my submission. This is an entertaining piece. Not my favourite version, though:

9/10, I absolutely love this song! While it's pretty repetitive, the video more than makes up for it and the fact that it tells the History of the USSR in a creative way accurately is very impressive.

First song I heard by this band. They're now one of my favorite bands of all time. This song and the album hold a LOT of sentimental value to me.

I'm generally not a fan of that stuff, but this one in particular wasn't too bad. At least he didn't really milk the vocals like most singers with acoustics have a tendency to do.
