And talking about "Your fellow human beings" is a dumb thing to say. I respect people who I think deserve it and this is most certainly some "I like these people but not those". On Facepunch this post of mine would have equal chances of getting rated dumb, agree and optimistic but it would probably not attract many disagrees if a prominent member of the forums wouldn't rate me as such. Just shows how respect on the internet is not a property you earn simply by being.

I don't really see a reason to respect everyone and my last post in this thread should show that well. I consider everyone who uses the term beta to be elitists, because the only reason to use that term is if you think you're "alpha" yourself. It implies being a wuss and not being superior to other people and things like that, but why can't you just directly say it? The term might, depending on the speaker, encompass very different matters and thus it's hard to see if you're trying to be a douche or if you have a stupid definition of the word.

And being an internet tough guy is something I'll gladly leave to others. Flaming is the furthest I'll go.

To continue the discussion, Esal, would you not also say that not respecting people for arbitrary reasons is just another way of calling yourself an alpha? Well I suppose there's always Shirley from Tales of Legendia. I loved almost every character in the game but her. For starters, she's the whole reason for all the troubles of the main cast. Senel continuing to stand by her side after all that just made me sick. She's also a carbon copy of Colette from Tales of Symphonia, minus the enjoyable personality. If they could make Symphonia a game with no bad characters, why'd they have to cheap out when making Shirley?
