Fair enough, but I believe Taeshi has said on her formspring that this was Mike's decision and not Sandy's. To be honest, I am still holding out hope that Mike and Lucy will patch things up. I think getting all of that anger out of Mike's system was good for him, and hopefully losing him makes Lucy less dependent and clingy. I was on Lucy's end of this situation before, and it really helped me learn to love myself. I even got my friend back a year later. I'd say worst case scenario: she latches on to Paulo and the cycle repeats.

Except Paulo would be able to handle Lucy better.

However, Paulo's currently with Jasmine, so he can't exactly spend much time with Lucy without potentially causing trouble. Plus, having been called a parasite, Lucy might not be inclined to seek help from anyone soon. She wouldn't want to burden her other friends like she did Mike.

I think Mike and Lucy will eventually be friends again, but it'll take a year or so. Much like your own experience, actually.

Paulo can handle her better, but it won't make a difference if Lucy doesn't mature. She needs to have someone that doesn't condone her behavior, and also at the same time doesn't end up falling for her. As much as I hate to say it, enter Augustus.

I'd say that if you look at how Paulo handled her in Another Path, and how it ended, she seemed to have matured a great deal. He is perfectly suited to help Lucy with her problems.

Ehh... that chapter has always been iffy for me. It can't be helped that the conclusion feels rushed, of course. I still find that my least favorite chapter, despite it being about Paulo. I guess it seemed unrealistic? I don't believe Paulo is a magic drug that cures Lucy's past insecurities.

Regardless, I think that Augustus fits this situation perfectly. Which sounds odd coming from someone who used to despise him.

The thing about Paulo is that he is one person that Lucy can act her true self around, instead of acting the way she did around Mike as a sort of defense. Lucy does not really trust Augustus as much and would not be able to act herself around him without first getting around that issue, which would be hard because Augustus also is not a trusting person. Also even if the chapter conclusion seemed rushed to you, it still does not change the fact that Paulo would be able to help Lucy given enough time.

Yeah fair enough, I guess I just feel that a little bluntness would do her wonders. Augustus and Lucy don't have to be chums, I was thinking more along the lines of their discussion earlier this chapter.

Paulo could help her very well, but it seems too perfect of a fix for me personally. Kinda like if you've ever read a story and immediately said "These two will end up together." That's my take on it, anyway.

That's a valid point also. It would be great if they fixed their respective issues, but I guess I don't mind as long as they end up friends again. If they managed to be a couple after all that drama, it would be one of he most heartwarming scenes ever. Seriously, I might cry if that happens.

Can the MikeXLucy friendship be repaired at this point? This is some serious stuff. Observer: I couldn't agree with you more about this situation for Lucy being an opportunity to build herself back up aloneish (I say ish because a little friend help is useful). That has happened to me before to and I am actually really happy for the outcome because it can be made as a good personality builder.

I generally hate everyone in bcb, but reading what I hate permits me to keep reading.

okay seriously guys stop hating on Sandy! I've had my own personal opinions on the girl, and December actually proved me right. Sandy like Mike, is a very caring person who'd do anything for the person she loves, but unlike Mike she has no clue as to what's going on. She just knows someone is causing pain to the person she loves. Now don't get me wrong my OTP is MikeXLucy forever, but i like to see reason in everyone and everything. Now that she's coming back is the tell-tale sign that this whole series is about to come to an end, because the one conflict that's been on everyone's mind (MikeXSandy vs. MikeXLucy) will finally be resolved with two possible endings.

1) Everyone just says "FUCK IT!", and gets on with their lives while Mike and Sandy drive off into the sunset together.
(p.s since some of you think i'm serious about some of these theories i'd like to state, that ending one WAS COMPLETELY STUPID, AND I HOPE THAT NEVER HAPPENS!)
or 2) Sandy comes home, spends time with Mike when suddenly, A TRAGIC EVENT THAT RESOLVES ALL PROBLEMS OCCURS (preferably including Alejandro's revenge)! this event will somehow cause Sandy (if it somehow allows Lucy to find her independence that'd be great too) to see the drama she's caused in her absence and dump Mike so he can pursue Lucy who she believes to need Mike more than her. and everyone lives happily ever after. (on a side note i realize i use the term "event" too much like TWGOK)

TL;DR don't hate Sandy! she's just an oblivious caring person, and an endgame character.

Hate to destroy the premise of your theories, lt_amazil, but the whole series isn't about to come to an end. Taeshi has repeatedly said BCB would last until the end of junior year. That's a year and a half in comic time, which amounts to several years in real-life time. You can bet plenty will happen in that time.

I do wish Mike and Sandy would find true happiness in each other, however I don't think this is likely what will happen. I think once Mike spends some time with Sandy, he'll start to entertain doubts about the relationship. Similarly, I wish Daisy could decide on Abbey as her one true love, they make such a cute couple together. But again, I don't think this will happen, because Daisy still has feelings for Mike.

Uh, back on topic now. I don't hate any of the characters really, except for Alejandro. Most of the characters have their good and bad qualities, which is pretty realistic.

I just HATE Link from the Zelda series. He's always running around, trying to save Zelda. He thinks he's so great, and that he's the only one capable of saving that "poor princes!" from sure doom. I mean SERIOUSLY Link. Let someone else save the damsel in distress for once. Jeez.

Mike. He was a good character, but I just think he handled the whole Lucy situation the wrong way. He has a right to be mad, but that was just awful what he did.
