One of the few fictional characters I despise has to be The Illusive Man from Mass Effect; you
NEVER trust someone who has the grapes to talk to you behind a curtain.
Also, the fact that TIM fucks with you every step of the mission: that Collector ship that had the Turian distress signal and you went in there and you almost didn't make it out alive? It wasn't real. And his response was 'I had to do it because you wouldn't have done it otherwise; it was for the mission.'
Then he has the testicular fortitude to tell you to
not destroy the Collector base, but to keep it as a resource. The base that you were signed on in a suicidal attempt to(technically)destroy it in the first place. All for having a step up for human's place in the galaxy, which, by the way, would hold a technology(s) of not only mass destruction, but technology so powerful that you couldn't begin to fathom the consequences of using them.
But fuck you, because
I decide the say so in the matter and because
you're squatting in your dark hidey-hole and I'm risking mine and my comrade's lives to destroy it.
Then he goes total fruit loop in 3 by turning Cerberus soldiers into nightmare-fueled human/reaper hybrids and reaperblocks you every step of the way; attacking the Citadel, instigating war between the Krogans and the Turians, etc.
And it turns out TIM
A greedy, powerful man bent on obtaining absolute power for mankind is destroyed by the very thing he thought he could control.... The irony is satisfying.
