As we all know, during Another Path, Taeshi uploaded her own art meme to her deviant art account. It was filled with stuff I mostly expected, Paulo and Lucy being her faves, she absolutely hates fancharacters, and she's starting to like Abbey, ya dah ya... What caught my attention, however, was her favorite scene section.



Best I can tell, absolutely NONE of these have happened yet. Now, let's analyze this! From right to left:


Kay, Tess crying. She's obviously happy about something, and crying. I imagine this is one or both of two things: A) Her graduation at the end of this year or B) her resolving her issues with Roger for good. Best I've got anyway.


Abbey's crying as well. I initially thought "Wait, is this when he finds out Daisy likes the attention he gives her more than anything else?" Then I realized he was happy, so they're tears of joy. It's probably him FINALLY putting his past behind him. I hope so, the dude deserves it.

I can't tell what the top middle is, but I THINK bottom middle is Gus. He appears to peaking his head out something, that, or it's in perspective, and we're looking down at him. If it IS Gus, I imagine this is him talking to Daisy about the not-rape. Maybe she's looking down at him from her window?


As a Mike X Lucy shipper, the left most picture intrigues me most. Mike and Lucy are huddled in two ball, curled up against their walls, each apparently in different rooms. This is a common technique in visual media, like TV and comics. It shows isolation through the splitscreen, but it also shows that the characters are connected somehow, and are feeling similar or even identical emotions simultaneously. Commonly, it usually depicts a couple or close friends or family members after a fight of some sort. What interests me, is what Mike is doing. Notice his hand, and the claw marks. What this says to me, is that he's frustrated, possibly angry. Why? Well, when you're pouting in your room after a fight of some sort, it's not unreasonable to think you might hit the wall, right? Well, he's a cat, so perhaps clawing the wall serves a similar purpose? Either way, BOTH Mike and Lucy are upset. I think that Mike and Lucy are angsting over their friendship, or what's left of it. Now, if it was JUST Lucy, I'd think nothing of it, you know, Lucy Lucying it up. But Mike is upset as well. Why would Mike be upset? Any affection he had for Lucy, romantic and platonic, seems to have vanished completely, thanks to Lucy's abrasiveness. So, why would Mike be angsting about their friendship? Likely, Lucy tried rekindling it. Mike and Lucy fought over it, and given that Taeshi has said shit is going to hit the angst fan come December, I imagine this takes place sometime around then.

I like where this is going. No happiness. Just how I like it.

If I may offer a different take on some of these?

Abbey and Tess are together. Now they could be emotionally letting go after having resolved their respective issues, as you suggest. However, it's equally as likely they're simply laughing so hard at a shared joke that they're crying. Either way, it does suggest the two of them will talk together in the future (else why would the scene be important enough to draw as a spoiler?).

The top middle seems to be a cat walking in the cold and snow. I would suggest it's Mike. We may have already seen this, in Lucy's recent personal flashback. Or we may not have.

Concerning Augustus, your guess is as good as mine. He does seem to be looking up, though. But at what? Daisy?

On the top-left, we have Lucy with a snowman and one of the pets, which kinda reminds me of this scene. However, the pet looks more like Blur than Yashy (note the beak). What would Blur be doing there, when he's Mike's pet? The bottom-left is obviously Mike, clawing a wall or something. If I had to guess, this might be due to Mike and Sandy breaking up. Maybe Blur, being the simple pet he is, thinks Lucy can help console him?

First of all, I'd like to point out that Mike's scarf has no apparent stripes. now, this might just be Taeshi choosing not to draw them given the simplified style, but considering the symbolism locked into the scarves, I suspect it is significant. It may well indicate that he wants Lucy again, which would probably imply Sandy broke up with him. Lucy may well be conflicted between memories of missing her last chance and anger at Mike for abandoning her again (and possibly for going after her sooner than she approves of after Sandy dumps him). Or perhaps after Sandy dumped him Lucy kissed him, he reacted with confusion, she ran off in embarrassment, and now she's worried she made things worse and he's not sure what to think and whether to expect Lucy to go back to being evasive and unwilling to commit. Or something like that; Lucy looks like she might be embarrassed.

For Augustus, I wonder if he might be looking up towards any deity that he may believe in or feel agnostic about. He could be questioning his working for Alejandro and the actions he took because of that, probably if the consequences threaten to hurt Daisy. When I look at his eye I see someone having an existential crisis.

I have to admit, I cannot see the cat walking in the snow in the top-middle. I can't make any sense of it no matter how hard I try.

For Abbey and Tess, all I have to contribute is that they don't look to me like they're in the same place. They may be drawn next to each other because of the parallel natures of the two scenes yet to come, or it may be that it's another example of split-screening and they are both going to find happiness of some sort through parallel stories that run at the same time. I could imagine Tess might be crying happily if at some point sufficiently before the scene, Paulo had broken up with Jazz, and then he vowed his love for Tess and promised to go to the same college as her so they could be together. I'm honestly not sure whether she would be happy or would feel guilty about making him wait for her and try to talk him out of it, though. Or perhaps it will have something to do with Jess and Rach finally forgiving her fully, and perhaps furthermore doing something really nice for her. As for Abbey, I don't think he's happy because he's putting his past behind him; that doesn't seem like a crying-with-happiness moment to me. I do, however, think he will have put his past behind him before that scene happens. It just seems too out-of-character for the Abbey we know for me to expect it to happen without some major change to make way for it.

Top left and center are clearly winter, due to snow and snowman.

So why do people assume that all of these are interconnected? ^_^

Lucy is sad/embarrassed and hiding behind the snowman, with Yashy being annoying at her. Michael is clearly exasperated, seeing how he is driving his claws into the wall. Augustus is sad or worried about something. Abbey and Tess are both looking happy to tears, but they are clearly not in the same scene by any means.

If I were to guess, none of these are even remote indicators of what will happen.

I do find it a bit incredulous that Abbey and Tess are both crying joyfully, if it's not at the same thing.

Oh, and to add a WildSpec for Augustus: he's looking up at Daisy who's on the brink of committing suicide in much the same manner as Lucy did in "Disaster Dominoes".

This could also have been taeshi drawing random crap and putting "spoiler!" over it just to mess with everybody.

She could be at home right now reading all our thoughts and just laughing her a** off.

Yeah, well, speculation alone is entertaining enough for it to be worth it.

I think Gus is looking up in the sky while snow is falling down on him, Tess crying because her past is resolved and stuff (and for PauloxTess shippers, if you have looked through Tess' creators deviantArt gallery you will see that - according to her - Tess ends up with a totally different guy)
Abbey is happy crying I think, but I'm not sure why.
Mike is clearly breaking down over something, but whereas it is related to Lucy or not I can't tell.
And then there's Lucy, hiding behind a snowman/snowbird with Yashy beside her, Lucy is probably having a crisis.

WAY too many sexual tension there. At their age is the fighting and bickering what gives you the clues, then again Mike "has" Sandy (kind of) but I do fear (and kinda expect) their relationship to defuse a little while after they get together in person, since both of them base their relationship on the interactions they had like what, 5 years ago? (not sure about the chronology so if I'm mistaken please tell me) And they haven't seen each other since then.
Boys and Girls DO CHANGE a lot in that age, and even one year apart can be significant.
So since Mike has already "pushed" Lucy aside, getting dumped by Sandy will be a significan blow to his self-esteem and will claw at the wall in frustration, also probably because he will feel that Lucy won't be there for him (as he had always been there for her)
Probably Lucy gets wind of the situation and gets confused and angsty not knowing what to do. (Quite Lucy-esque if you ask me)

• Lucy behind a snowman: we just encountered that scene a page or two ago. Except it turned out that Lucy was behind a bush and not a snowman. Yashy's still reaching for Lucy though, so ILB turned out to be right on this point.
  
  
• Mike clawing a wall: I think we haven't seen this yet. It is notable that Mike doesn't seem to be wearing his striped scarf. And we know that in the current chapter, Mike is now wearing a blue scarf once again, the gift Sandy gave to him. If I had to take a wild guess, this could be Mike once Sandy is forced to break up with him, because of her mother or something.
  
  
• A cat walking in the snow: we may have already seen this, if we take it to be Lucy walking home from Mike's house at the end of "December". Then again, I still keep thinking of this (one of the hoodie designs in the BCB Spreadshirt store).
  
  
• Augustus sitting down (?) and/or looking up (?): this could again be a reference to "December", or it might be something else entirely. Augustus certainly does still have a part to play before the year is out, seeing as how he's connected with Alejandro's gang.
  
  
• Abbey and Tess laughing/crying: this might be separate events, or the same one. We do see Tess cry in "Fade Away". If this isn't the event being referenced for Tess though, well, she is only around for five or six more months BCB time. As for Abbey, I don't believe we've yet seen him cry in joy, have we?

Wacko: Lucy was behind a snowman, I don't know why people are confused by it. She was just hiding behind one that was still being made and so was still kind of a pile of developing snow.

Taeshi, did you mean to say 'snowman' and not 'bush'?

It really did seem like a snow-covered bush to me, at least that was my initial thought. Usually people roll and form the bottom portion of a snowman instead of just heaping snow like that.

i used to heap snow and then shape it up.

(Also to make it better for you guys, crying abbey referenced At Loose Ends. My initial script was that he was going to cry at his mother's grave in a "at least she is at peace and i love her" sort of way, but there wasn't really any way to logically fit it in. Especially because he was gonna tantrum initially.. so it's very whiplash to be like "THIS ISN'T FAIR THIS ISN'T FAIR but i guess now that i know i'm enlightened i love you mother" etc)

I have to say, I am impressed at how far ahead you plan for this comic, Tae.

Guess we're not done with this thread yet. Augustus is obviously looking up at Lucy who's on the roof of a building, as shown in "Ten Seconds to Midnight". I suppose this just leaves Mike clawing something in frustration. Whether the reason for that is in this chapter or the next remains to be seen.

Why must you revive old threads. As for the spoilers, they are finally real. The top left one could be Lucy hiding behind the snow pile in chapter 71, and the middle top and bottom pic are definitely from chapter 73. Since those chapters aren't far apart, I wonder what the bottom left drawing of mike will be.

I will take a wild guess and say that we'll see Mike doing that next chapter. As in, I think it has to do with Sandy rather than Lucy. Unless it's just him getting frustrated with Lucy, but I dunno, that doesn't seem big enough of an event in itself.

Mike's sitting there like he just got diagnosed with cancer and only got approximately one year left to live.

It certainly could be a sign of something involving Sandy or Lucy. Although, I got one unconventional idea that Mike got hit in the face really bad and is grasping it in pain while he's either trying to gravely pull himself up with the other hand, or just clawing the wall in frustration.
