I noticed the lack of video game topics so I decided why not have one about Sonic Generations. So what are your thoughts.

I don't care.

I see sega is still milking the money cow
  • #3

Why would you want something like this
  • #4

I only enjoyed 3 sonic games. 2 on GC. On on DS
  • #5

Sega does really push the pressure on Sonic for every penny. All I see with Sonic is a lot of speedy dashes through tons of redesigned stages...And the button I press the most is the forever-held *Move forward* button.
The characters are kinda cute though. Sega should make more stuff.
  • #6

If you're a fan of the overall series, you'd hope it does good, but I don't know. It'll be tough. Basically it looks like the main thing you could do is swap skinny Sonic for chubby Sonic.

More like Sonic de-generation!
Ohohohohoho!

I've played a few sonic games, they're kinda fun! :3
Although I have no insight on this new game. :/

But I hope it's good.
(I actually liked Unleashed and, uh, appreciated the effort in Sonic 2006)
(didn't like colors, though.)

EDIT:
For all I care, Sega could file in bankruptcy and sell Sonic's rights to Nintendo.
Nintendo takes care of it's pets...
(Or to Sony, or to anyone else. Someone just please stop Sega!)

it's sad that they are doing this to sonic. and mario as well. I bet if they had someone from bungie heading nintendo we would see better games for the Wii. then hopefully sonic and mario would be better. or maybe even new games would be better. (i'm kind of prejudiced towards Nintendo)

Sonic died with the Dreamcast.

You know what, I'm still a fan of Sonic, and most you don't really play it. So, shut the fuck up, you can't talk shit! So games suck, some don't, alright. But overall, his games are usually still pretty good. People bitch about him but they don't play it! And to Marshmallow, there are good games for the Wii. People always talk shit about Nintendo, but guess what. Sony and Microsoft copied Nintendo and tried to act like they made something revolutionary! Did Nintendo give all of their users account info like bank and stuff practically away to hackers? No! The Xbox is a not that good copy of Dreamcast, which had some games that were the shit. Sony had some pretty good games, and they and Nintendo should be the ones in competition, not the copy-cats at Microsoft! Nintendo has good stuff, but people like the crew of X-Play down talk it. They gave the awesome Sonic Colors a 3/5 but gave a shitty Xbox Kinnect game that sucked major donkey balls. I'mma old school gammer, I beat the eight robot bosses, I knocked out Tyson, and I have the saved the princess! The only difference between my princess and some other people's princesses, is that one is for the gammer, which is what THEY are not! I don't not ride the dicks of companies or fan bases, I speak the truth. And one of the major reasons for franchises like Sonic or Klonoa dying is because people complaining about the voice acting. Klonoa died and came back and possibly died again because people bitched about the voices, even though they were not that bad. (I've no clue if Klonoa is alive.) Okay, I get if they HORRIBLE voice actors, like the person who did the English version for Sonic's voice in Sonic X, and trust me that shit was horrible, but that doesn't mean the series is bad, just that voice actor, and the whole series shouldn't suffer. For some dumb-ass reason, people don't get that. Think of the actual quality, as in enjoyment, and what YOU think about it, not others. Play the fucking game and if it sucks you can bitch about it. Until then, go fuck yourself. You can say it might suck, you can say it might be good, but you can't say that it is good or that it is bad unless you FUCK-ING TRIED IT!

You're half-right, Sony outright copied Nintendo. Microsoft only partially copied because the Kinect does not need a controller, it's hands free, which is pretty god damn revolutionary.

Did you actually play the Kinect game to judge it to be shit?

I stopped playing sonic games after the Dreamcast game because I hated that it was in three dimensions, so I stick to the old school 2D ones. I got my hands on a Sonic game for the GBA, but damn was the game slow, made Sonic look like he was walking... pity. So for me, Sonic died after the Dreamcast.

1) I will give you that, because it's no controller, but it's not revolutionary. In fact, there is talk about a big ball you can go inside and run in like you were in the game and stuff. You even get stuff like sword controllers and stuff. It has controllers, but it feels more real since your moving and you have the controller as the thing your using, like a sword if your character has a sword, or a SMG, or whatever.
2) Play the Dreamcast, then the Xbox. The games on the Xbox usually suck more, though.
3) I played the game, others played the game, we all said the game sucked, the game sucked, we played the game, it sucked.
4) Okay, that's your view, but I think some of the Sonic Advances very pretty sexy. Sonic Colors is also pretty sexy, and Sonic Heroes was sexy, minus parts where Rouge came in. (That bitch can't act.) But I'm getting into different points. (When I say sexy, I mean game quality. Like Super Mario RPG was sexy, Mega Man 2 was sexy, et cetera. Smexy can be used, but you HAVE to show some evidence right away.)

I prefer Amy (she's sexy and gave me an over two-hour boner when I was playing the game 8-) ), but Cosmo is alright. I've played most Sonic Games, I missed 5 at most.
I think they made a mistake on Sonic Colors. I dislike it's gameplay.

I disliked the Sonic Unleashed Story, but I liked Sonic's stages (and their music! oh so good music!), and actually I liked Werehog's stages a little. They were hell of a lot easier to get medals than Sonic's >_<

I liked the story in Sonic 2006, but hell, that game is horrible. I used to call it "Bug the Loading", but maybe I should've saved room in the name for 'Slowdowns', really. The controls are shitty too. But even so I enjoyed it =D

Black knight was a huge disappointment for me. Though I liked the story, and the fake ending. (And I absolutely love 'With me', the music for the final battle.)

So, overall, for me Sega should go bankrupt and sell Sonic's rights to a more competent company. ;)

I hate when "Win" fails and mediocrity is passed on to us. It's bullshit. Games are not like they were in the old school days. Sure, they are not as advance, but they were good, AND it didn't take MONTHS for a good game to come out. I still play the NES and the SNES, they are the shit.
  • #29

Plenty of good modern games. I like Sonic as much as the next guy (Sonic 3 on Genesis was pretty much the first game I ever played) but seriously, those weren't the 'glory days'. Those were the old days. They're good for nostalgia, but if you give me the choice between Mass Effect and a copy of Sonic 3 on the Genesis? Yeah I'm sticking with Mass Effect. I get tired of people always whining about 'wahhhh all the old games were better wahhhh' If you like them so damn much, either A: find an old console and games at a yard sale or B: download an emulator, download the games, and play it on your computer. Stop trying to convince me they were storytelling and gameplay POWERHOUSES because the majority of them weren't.

(And I'm one of those people that somewhat enjoyed Shadow the Hedgehog on the Gamecube. At least, except for the FUBAR plot.)

I'm not saying Mass Effect was better than Sonic 3, I'm saying there is hardly a decent production of good games like they had in the older days. The games were fun, and they came out at a pretty good rate. We're kinda being B.S.'d with games nowadays. There hardly exists a true gamer.
  • #31

'True gamer' is a term that pisses me off to no end.

Who decides what a 'true gamer' is? How does one go about defining a 'true gamer'?

Hint: IMO, if you play games and you can enjoy them and have fun, you're a gamer.
  • #32

You're a gamer if you play games.

*high fives you* Exactly! Plus, I really wanna have the voice actors change because people keep on bitching about the voices and I want them to SHUT THE FUCK UP! I hate when people bitch about voice actors that are that bad. (The guy who did Sonic's voice on Sonic X I will let slide 'cuz Sonic really sounds horrible on that.)

I'm sure there are good games for the Wii, and I actually heard Colors was decent, but I really don't have the time to try everything these days. Besides, I'm tired of playing the same franchise over and over. It's why I've been losing interest in Sonic, Mario, Metroid, and all the other franchises that have over 10 games or so. Nintendo keeps sticking to the same thing instead of taking risks with new franchises, and it doesn't help that their 3rd party support doesn't give them a varied portfolio of AAA games. Never tried Galaxy 1 and 2 even though I'm sure it's quite good. But I digress, how did this Generations topic turn into a console discussion?

I'd just like to point out that there's been camera-based motion detecting systems for consoles since the goddamn PS2. The method Kinect uses is not particularly exciting, the fact it can see depth is just a clever extension of pre-existing technology.

Eye Toy, it's called an Eye Toy. Now that I think about it the Kinect has very little similarity to the Eye Toy other than having a camera in it. If anything, the Eye Toy was a glorified webcam, like the 360's LIVE Cam thing or whatever it was called, so to say that the Kinect is a total rip off is a bit of a stretch because the Eye Toy could only detect you within a field of vision whereas the Kinect can track your movement in it's entire field of view, has voice recognition and indepth detection of the subject (for example, weight loss games for the Kinect can detect whether "Ur doin' it right" or not). It's got so much more to it than the Eye Toy.

Back on topic: I heard good things about Sonic Colors, so why shouldn't Generations be good too?

The Eye is the camera utilized in PS Move

It was EyeToy

True. It does have new features, plus it's better. Plus I forgot about the EyeToy! It seems like they did something done, but better. An actual most win for Microsoft! I say most because some of the features don't work as well as it should. (Like the other day, we were watching a movie at my half big brother's friends house. We were looking for some movies to watch and he wanted to skip a part of it. He tried to do that but something... interesting *wink, wink nudge, nudge* popped up and I laughed my ass off! XD ) But then again, at least it has those features...
