User name Origin Tales: Part Dos Cause I know you missed it.

Tell me were you got your User Name from. This is actually an old topic but we have a lot more people now and I always find it interesting to see how others got their name. Like mine was a combination of me trying to be witty. I am a freqent reader on the webcomic hosting site; Drunkduck, and at the bottom of ever webpage there is the ad: Want to Leave a Comment? Join Drunkduck!

Well since I am NOT an artist and all I do is read comics and comment on them anyways, I thought, "Sure, I'll join and name myself Leaving a Comment for laughs" Well as it turns out, everyone actually really liked the name so I stuck with it. Then one of my first nights on the old forum, Suitcase made some smartass comment about my name and asked it's origin. So I came up with a total BS story to explain it and it went a little something like this:

It a terrible story of heart ache, and betrayal SuitCase, are you sure? Once I had a simple life, a steady job, a loving family, but that all changed when he came into my life. We swept me off my feet and showed me a world that I had never imagined. He popped the simple bubble of life I had been trapped in and we ran away together. We rode the rails for a year, going where ever the trains did, following our hearts, with only ourselves and a dog named Waffles for company.

One day we were trying to catch a train to Washington, Waffles was pulling hard on his makeshift leash and I noticed that it was becoming a tab bit frayed, but I decided not to mention anything. As we were running to grab the train, the leash suddenly snapped and Waffles tumbled down the hill and fell into a truck full of pillows heading towards town. Waffles didn’t chase after the train that day.

He never forgave me and eventually left me alone, I returned home and to my normal, boring life. I sometimes look out the window as the trains pass and think of Him and toy with the idea of jumping on one of those trains.

Now I prowl the internet, making sure I always leave a comment. Maybe one day I’ll leave enough comments to make up for the one I never made…

So yeah, let me hear your stories of where your user names came from.

Oh? Well, to be honest, my combination of letters is nonsensical. I just strung them together once, in times long past, when I joined the Internet - it was an ad ilb, you might say.

*slapped*

Still. I have retconned it on several occasions - Jacob once suggested I'm Lemon Breakfast, and that one is fun; my favourites are Incandescent Light Bulb, I'm a Loser - the Beatles, and one I will not mention because it might be misunderstood. ^_^ The most famous one, however, is 'ilikeboys', which I have never actually called myself. So, sorry about that.

Still. My user name has no real meaning (essentially, like I'm Lemon Breakfast), but put what you want into it. Truth lies hidden, even here. ^_^

I read that someone thought that Momoa was some kind of fruit. It's not, I'm no imaginative person. It's just a name of a character I stole from a comic. 8-)

My original user names are far too recognizable (my most common one Arbajor, it was a random assortment of letters created for the soul purpose of being original, I've never seen another Arbajor and have never had to add a set of numbers after the main word) and I don't let people know that I read BCB. (nameless) is very generic, even if you happen to be a person that I know you would not recognize (nameless). In the old forums where username could be changed at will (nameless) was just supposed to be a placeholder until I thought of something different. Of course I've long since realized that I don't know anyone personally here and I would often use Arbajor freely, however (nameless) caught on and I've seen no reason to change it.

I played through all of the zelda games but wind waker one year and then I needed a user name.
I acctualy liked navi and never could figure out why people hated him/her/they?/it/we/me.
This is most likly the result of my own HUGE tendancy to be annoying and not know it and my subsiquent tolarance and even ignorance of attempts to annoy me.

Dancing-Sword is a name I've been using for a long time now (I think about 6 years). Originally, I made it up when I started doing flash cartoons as a hobby. I was going to use it as a production name (Dancing Sword Productions), but I never did and still refuse to post any of my stuff online so that was the end of that. During my freshman year of highschool, I used it as both my username when I joined an art site and the title for a character I made. Today, I use it in random forums and for my Deviantart just because it has stuck with me so long.

My name is Iain. Iain-westy has been my username since 1998.
My Furry persona. Or Fursona if you must, was a West Highland Terrior also known as a Westy. I no longer consider myself a furry. i'm not insane just metaly unstable.

my real name is Iain Snell. some baseball player has almost the same name as me and i get a lot of American Bball fans harrasing me.

I posted mine on the old forum, but I'll post it again, for old times sake.

Well, it began in the 7th grade when I was in a class with two teachers instead of one. The second teacher was a really cool guy and we were friends that year. Next year I dident have him for any classes. We still said Hi in the halls whenever we passed eachother. One day though, he had seen me walking through the mixing bowl (The universal intersection of the school) he called to me, "Hey, Hen Barrson!" I laughed at the unusual intercangement of the first letters of my first and last name and said hi back. It stuck with me and turned into my You tube name. eventually I found myself here in this bit of heaven in need of a name, where elce to turn than to that old nickname bestowed upon me years ago.

*In a time longs since past, a young Ninja in training had a personal crisis. He had become fed up with a life of silence, secrecy, and strict senseis. In a desperate attempt to achieve some barest semblance of normality, he wandered the internet, posing as a normal person. But each time he was caught by his ever-vigilant senseis. One day, desperate to get away from the anxieties of his life, he stumbled upon BCB. He swiftly read through the archives and fell in love with the simple, yet elegant, style of the comics. For months he lurked, attempting to devise a way to keep his presence hidden from his senseis. Then it struck him. If he posted as a Ninja, no one would suspect him. Everyone would automatically believe him to be an impostor, no matter what he said or did. From that day forward, he has come and gone as he pleases, free at last from the confines of his arduous fate, if only in mind.*

^I used to do this a lot.

I just coulsn't think of anything original. I had no creative names. You should be able to find your way through the rest of the story from there.

Any players of Chrono Trigger? Yeah, I pretty much worship that thing like a Christian worships Jesus and the Bible and God. My favorite move? The one (mis)drawn on the cover artwork, Arc Impulse. Specially loved the unique sounds it made throughout the icy blades clashing and crunching.

On top of that I write a great many stories and I really liked a character from one of them and his name was Arc so the two combined, I've used this for about the past 5 years.

Ice is something I really like, Marle's one of my favorite characters ever concieved, there you go.

Icy theme, Arctic Impulse.

I did a letter change to my name and got this, a rather odd but fitting name. I'v been told i can sing nicly but thats not the reason i picked it, just a bonus. I used to put 90 behind my name in the old Forum, because the name Lark was always taken in past exearionces. The 90 means something but i don't feel like repeating myself so yo just have to figure is out.

We're answering this again? Geepers!

I'm an immigrant! I'm in your country, stealing your jobs! And I'm proud of it! In fact I'm more than proud! I Think I'm better than the rest of you because of it! Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!

...

Hehe, no, really now. Migration is beautyful and horrible at the same time, it's killing a bit of yourself and growing much more in return. To quote my buddy Elton J. Johnny "It's one heart beating in two separate worlds". So if you meet an immigrant, shake his hand and congratulate him/her! I know I do. And as a symbol of my pride I wear this stigma as my name on the interwebs.

Are you crying yet?
Ah, god bless expatriates! ._. #^_^#

It is a loooong story, so I’ll make it shorter :asd:
I’m fascinated by demons, angels and folk creature as like esotericism, so the first time I wanted to choose an account login for Ultima Online I choose “LightDemon”…
After that, I modified it into “Demon of Light” (wich, at that time, I didn’t noticed it was a bit wrong since what I wanted to mean was “Demon of the Light” ), since then I use that names the most of time (I’ve some other, but I don’t want to annoy so I’ll write about them if someone wants to know about :asd: ).
“Demone della Luce” is simply the translaction of “Demon of the Light”

Btw: this post has been copied from the old forum :look:

Yeah, but as I said in the old forums, too many people haven't met that word and don't understand it.

I also used Bremer_Lloyd recently on the IRC. Bremer Lloyd is the German/Dutch shipping company which brought almost all of the people leaving Germany to north and south america in the 1800s and early 1900s. If you live in the american continent and have German ancestors, there's a very good chance they traveled on a Bremer Lloyd ship. As Germany had two of the largest seaports used in the region, a lot of people from other countries (Poland, hungary, austria, Czech republic, etc) would have gone to Germany and headed to the new world in a Bremer Lloyd ship, too.

@Demon della Luce: Heh, I always read your name as "Demon della Lucy", for some reason.
