User name Origin Tales: Part Dos Cause I know you missed it.

I once played a game called Wario: Master of Disguise. There was a Gentleman Thief character named Carpaccio. I took the name.

People kept mispronouncing Carpaccio, so I jokingly called myself Cappuccino. It stuck.

what a shame, carpaccio does taste better.

My name came about when in a different comic the creator decided to take a vacation. The readers decided to turn the comments box into an RP. I wanted to join so I created this name to represent Light and Dark, two of my personalities. That RP was also where I got my RP "skills" or lack of them I should say. My personalities are probably from the many different "events" in my life. Who else here measures large chunks of time (multiple years) in family member deaths?

Could you give us a phonetic transcription of Carpaccio? I might know it; then again, I have no idea what any other pronunciations might be. ^_^
  • #55

The character says it's pronounced car-POSH-ee-oh.

Hmm... I would have expected a "PACH" rather than the "POSH". Oh well, I was wrong, then. ^_^
  • #57

Well I pronounce it like a blend of the two, somehow, so you're not all that much wrong.

Well, simply because when most of us see a capital letter, we think that its a letter to be stressed or to be pronounced separately because its upper case when not used in a common name or at the beginning of a sentence. The absence of the entire word doesn't help that either. you can also attribute this mistake to the all-around awkwardness of your name pronounced correctly.

Moddy because he was my favorite villain from the Teen Titans cartoon series, and Auld because one the most amazing things I've seen on the internet is the Brackenwood series and I recall that hairless bigfoot-like creature apparently being called the Auld Sage. So Moddy Auld. I do rather like the sound of the name, as random as it is.

Sailor Moon was one of the first animes I've watched when I was around 8 or 9. I made up my own fan character who's scout name was Sailor Sun Star (laaame)..and named her Aika. I'm not entirely sure why I picked that name but I think it was partially because "ai" means love in Japanese. I know, I know, I was quite the fan girl.

A while after, I dumped the whole Sailor Moon baggage and she just turned out to be one of my main characters that I draw. Since she basically was my first creation, I use Aika as an alias for a lot of things. I also use PyroAika on several occasions due to my love of fire.
  • #61

Hehehe characters named "Ai". I have one of those but I'm thinking of changing it...

Back in the early 90's when I was signing up for AOL 2.5 I wanted to use a really cool screen name.

NightHawk
"User name already exists."

NiteHawk
"User name already exists."

KnightHawk
"User name already exists."

NightHawk77
"User name already exists."

WHAT THE *&%#&@^ >:O

So finially I used my first initial 'J' kept the 'Hawk' and added 'NH' at the end for NightHawk'.

JHawkNH
"Your new screen name is JHawkNH."
IT'S ABOUT ******* TIME!!!

At first, I made a few posts as Sven Frödel, and then switched over to Mr. Klaus. I thought it was interesting and unusual, and only after the fact did I remember that it was the first name of one of the main characters in the anime Last Exile. However, his name is spelled with a C, not a K. So I kept it.

Sometime in the old RC I scored the 2000th post. Looking back, that wasn't much (It eventually overloaded to more than 10,000) but at the time I thought it was neat. So I graduated to "Doctor" status. I was looking for an excuse to do that anyway, so it fit right in. Besides, I think it looks better than just plain ol' "Mister."

But you don't care anyway.

Posted on the old forum, reposting because I have nothing better to do.

Used the username "batcat8402" for a long time, but got bored with it. One day, filling out the form for the Evga Forums, I decided on Carcharocles58--simply because I collect fossil shark teeth, and the number 58 has been tattooed on my brain from living in the KC area for my whole life. It was also the only thing I could think of that wasn't taken by someone. Eventually it got dulled down to just Carcharocles.

Also is there anyway I can change my username? Havn't been able to find anyway to do it yet, all I really want to do is capitalise some of the letters.

You would have to ask SuitCase for that. Or Taeshi. Sometimes they will comply, other times they will not. ^_^

Volgrand Volgrand Volgrand.... the history of the nickname "Volgrand"... Well, it's simple.

In my begginings on the net (many years ago!) my first nickname was "Pyro". But soon I realized that there were THOUSANDS of Pyros on the net. So I decided to change my nick.

Volgrand was a character I made for a RPG. That's all.

And, until the moment, I haven't found another people that uses my nick 8-)

I used to go by "Lil Hedgie" back in the day when I was in a sonic community. There was this whole thing about my character Lil being a healer.. anyway I gave her a second form that's a fighter - a yellow cat.

I decided to name the character Tae-shi, after "Ta-She", which is the name of an egyptian cat in a book I was reading at the time. Unfortunately, EZBoard didn't like the name Tae-shi because of the "-" so I shortened it to Taeshi.

I used to go as TaeshiLH on EZboard, the LH standing for "Lil Hedgie"

That's why my DA name is still taeshilh

(yes when i was little I used to RP)

Huh, I thought I posted in this ages ago. Oh well.

Where did I come up with KAS Bat?

When me and my friends were younger we used to use our schools computers to play Age of Empires against one another. My first name is almost impossible for anyone to correctly pronounce the first time so I always used a shortened version of my name to create the player name Lord Kem (my friends actually came up with the lord part as I always manged to beat them or at least end the game in a stalemate). Eventually I started using it on line as well but after a while I dropped the lord part as it sounded to high and mighty and just went by Kem for a while. However a couple of sites already had Kem taken so I then took to replacing the E with any random letter from my middle name and the M with any random letter from my last name. I went through a bunch of different variations before eventually settling on KAS. And as for the Bat part, I threw that in when I joined here because KAS seemed to small and I always use bats as my avatars.

Bleh, don't even know where to start with <------ that name...

Ummmmmmm, started when I moved to *censored*, they had a nice library and my family was poor, so we often went their.
One day I saw a kid playing Runescape on one of the computers, and from their we start th long journey towards my current name.
At first it was Fishhappines, with only one s because of a name limit... for perhaps five years I used that name for everything, until the day I got an Xbox 360.
Obviously by this point i'd realized fishhappines was exceedingly stupid, and i'd gotten plenty of gay fish jokes by that time, but I didn't know what else to make it... unfortunately my little sister made that choice when I wasn't paying attention and I become Burningfin, which really on Xbox LIVE didn't improve anything in the slightest, but it stuck.
Eventually, about four years ago, my account got temporarily banned because I tried to use a gift card to pay for LIVE, but it didn't have enough money on it... so that is how that name died.
Now, over on addictinggames.com I had had an account still under the fishhappines username[it was really old], found a game called Stormthehouse, and I spent several hours playing it, found the second game and spent a few more hours their, which officially categorized it as one of my favorite computer games, Runescape having falling out of favor since a buncha changes screwed up some of the best parts of the game.

Having Stormthehouse be my GAME OF THE MOMENT, and the fact that I literally tried twenty or so different names on Xbox LIVE and they all had already been taken, Stormthehouse had not, so it became, once and for all, my diffinitive end name for all things.

I have no accounts by fishhappines or burningfin that I remember the passwords for.

I hope you have enjoyed this look into the history of my username (=

Used to go by the name of mdidz for quite some time. It was more or less copying off my cousin whose username was usually jdiddy (we were all frightfully unoriginal as kids). After some time I grew ashamed of the name and started making new ones up on the fly for every new forum/mmo I'd join. Most of these names started with Mik- (my first name is Michael, or Mike) followed by an arrangement of vowels, r's, and n's. After using the name "Mikaro" a few times, I grew to really like it and stuck with it. The issue I run into now is that I wasn't the first one to come up with this name and, as a result, often have to use different names on popular forums or games (which has led me to come up with some interesting new names I quite like but, none I've used dedicatedly yet). Whenever I run into this problem and am feeling particularly lazy, I make my name MisterMikaro (my initials are MR so, I think it fits) or UmbreonMike (because Umbreon is a total bad ass). Aaaaaand, there you have it :/

Fun fact: I also went around as pokefreek3000 when I was 8 and redinfusion which was my brother's old AOL username that I more or less took over at age 13.
  • #89

The name started back in middle school for me when my friends saw my bearish, hairy legs and started calling me Yogi. Hence the bear portion of my name. The kidney portion came from when I was little the doctors removed one of my kidneys cause I had a tumor on it. Well my friends added in that they accidentally removed both kidneys and weren't sure which was the working kidney, so they placed a bearkidney inside me. Thus my nickname Bearkidney was born and I've just stuck to it since then.

So many pokemon lovers here...Also Bear, that story with the kidney and your friends is actually really cute if you think about it.

Vaughn...

It's a name that I gave to a fictional character I draw, which originated from my grandfather's pen name when he wrote books. However I only kept that name for the character and I never used it for a username until I figured that it would be a great aliases as my personality is quite similar to my character Vaughn.

Originally, I had my name as icekiller from when I was 6 and an even bigger dumbass (Shocking, isn't it). Eventually, that name became.. verrrrry stupid.. so when I joined a tf2 server one time, all of sudden people told me to change my name... and a little later a friend of mine suggested one to me that I liked, which was DangerIce.. only because puns are funz :D
  • #93

My user name? Well, when I got my X-Box 360 and Halo 3, I had to come up with a profile name. I'm facinated with knights, so I decided to go with something along those lines. I also love Germany and my German heritage, so I chose to write it in German. Originally, I was going to go with "Der Schwartz Ritter" or "The Black Knight", but that was too long for the space aloited. After much deliberation, I went with the oposite, "Der Weiß Ritter" or "The White Knight." I couldn't get to the eszett (ß) on my English-language system, so I replace it with a "B" due to their similar structure. Finally, I changed "Der" to "Die" because 1) I think it is gramatically incorrect and therefore less likely to be used and 2) I feel that it rolls of the tounge better.

When I started an Internet presence, I decided to keep "DieWeiBRitter" as my universally accepted Internet name. So far, others on the net have shortened it to "Ritter," "Knight," "DieWei," DieWeiB," "White Knight," "Die," and just plain "B." To me, all are acceptable.
  • #94

Not too many to say about my nick. It was originally the name of a rolegame character I used from some time. I have been using "Volgrand" for almost all my internet activities since then.

Well, except for writing erotic stuff. I use another username for it :D
