Well, the actual context of the word (in English) comes from a massive wagon which was used to carry a huge statue of Jagannāth. It was said that followers of Jagannāth would throw themselves beneath the wagon wheels to be crushed as a religious sacrifice.

...Now I am imagining devotees of Taeshi being crushed by the wheels of logic. :smirk:

Of course overpopulation is a serious problem, so maybe you are just doing a good deed instead?

yes the post was long ago, but devil's advocate away!

My family has terrible genes. Early death, a really really bad history of mental sickness.

I don't think I would do well raising a child that has even half of the issues my Sister has, and (selfishly I do admit) I do fear it would be a burden on my life.

Kids seem to gravitate towards me, I'm ambiguous towards kids, I have a protective instinct, but I'd have to deal with all the detriments that involve being a parent, e.g. worrying about their safety, knowing when to be lenient or to buckle down... It's hard to say if I'd be a good parent or not.

Basically for me it's not a matter of "Do I want to have children someday?" It's more a matter of "would I be a good parent?" and "does the /other/ parent want kids?" I think the fact that I'm apathetic to the fact of whether I have a kid or not is a red flag, but conversely, I /would/ try my hardest to be a good parent to said kid if I had one.

As for gender preference, either goes.

What, where? Who?
I'm saying that if you don't pass on your genes you have no direct fitness, which means you might as well be dead. Doesn't matter if you have good or bad genes, it's just about fitness.
Unless we take indirect fitness into consideration. I SUPPOSE you can still have that. Geez.

Also, Pantsu, you are a beautiful man and you would have great babies.

I'd like to have exactly 2 or 4, no other number besides those two. >:(

As for gender, if I only have two children, than at least one boy, and I don't care what gender the other one is. Now if I have four children, I want two boys, and two girls. Infact I've even thought of names for all of them, Michael Jr.(cliche right?), Alexander(because of Xander), Bethany(because of Better Days), and I'm not particularly sure about the other girl name but I like the name Victoria. #^_^#

I hate all of those stupid popular names of today. I made a rule that if I decide to have four children than one of them will be named Michael Jr. 8-)

Aww, I was expecting you to give the names as Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen.

Oh god, Zappa's kids *facepaw*

God forbid I have children, I have one boy's name and one girl's picked out. If it's a boy, he'll have the name I use on these forums, Reynardine Ozymandias. If it's a girl, it's Anastasia Penelope.

I like long names :P
  • #159

id love to have kids but id never want to put that child through the whole 'daddys not coming home' thing

The future can never be predicted, BIP-BAP-BAM. For example, you might get run over by a bus, which would amount to much the same thing for your child as your dying in combat.

i know but still, id never want that for them
  • #162

This won't help bip-bap but my dad was in the military and he was never really there for me and my siblings till I got into middle school which was right after he retired. I'm saying even if you survive your spending time with your job not your children.

  • #165

Yeah, if you're gonna rough it out in the field, I think you're justified in not wanting to have kids. I'd hate to have kids and then never come home to them again.

  • #168

hell maybe by then i would have settled down and would be actually capable of doing nothing for a change........ or most likely end up training other recruits like me for a living

I thought of that to, I guess it doesn't really mater how much children I'd have, I'd just rather have two, or four.

Complaining only makes him stronger.
  • #184

Well, I don't like kids really. So, I'm not sure if I'd like to have a kid. Though I'm only 16..so lot's of time to decide.

Mentally, I'm pretty sure I can breed.
  • #193

I wouldn't want a kid now... Plus babies tend to freak me out. IT IS SO EASY TO KILL THOSE THINGS
Seriously, reading infor for biology and it's like 'If they don't get enough of Vitamin C they get rickets and die. If they have too much water they die, If they have/don't have 'X'they die. Plus they are so tiny... gaaaaah...

If I was going to have a sprog I would want a boy. Girls are annoying and mine might actually turn out to be a girly girl... I wouldnt know how to talk to them...

Depends on whether or not it looks like he's going to turn out gay. If it looks like he's just going to end up a colossal pussy and not gay, start beating him. It'll be okay to stop once he tries to fight back.

Remember: you're his parent, not his friend. Your job is to make sure he doesn't turn into a pussy, a redneck or a Scientologist.
