Tales of the Ashes (feedback requested)

Posted Image

Sweet jebus, I realised a while ago I haven't posted any of my stuff since May! =S
This is probably due to fault with this pic in early stages, when I suddenly got stuck. >.<

Anyway, this piece is half tribute to first (and still living) Slovenian comic artists, Miki Muster.
This tribute being one of the villians from his series, probably most notible of all, Joža Gulikoža, or aka Joseph Peelskin, hence the title "The Bloody Captain". [link]

Oh and the other guy, is his first mate, Mister Smite. =)
Note that he's a MINOTAUR, not a bullman. Big differance.

In my comic series, this guy is one of the most brutal pirates ever to sail the seas. Why? I think his name is pretty obvious. =P

Your characters are brutal. I don't know what it is, but something about beaks is creepy as hell.

Nice

Well, these 2 are the 2 main badguys after all. They're ment to be creepy. =P
And ye, was a bit hard to make a beak that would spell "horror". I suppose I could've made a rave beak, but I've decided to go for something unique. After all, he's... He who brings the Night. >=)

"Long ago in the distant past, when the Upper Sheron was devided by countless tribes, there existed a cult dedicated to worship a Serpent Blood God, Quetneklan. Through him, the priests were able to channel blood magic, one of the deadliest weapons in existance. Alarmed by the cult's increased growth, the tribes of Upper Sheron united together as one and relocated the nexus of their power within the temple city of Kuat'allan. Together, the now united tribes and their spirit posessed priests, eradicated every single living cultist, to ensure such dangerous powers would never be weilded again. However, somehow the Chrimson Lady of Sin managed to acquire the lost knowlage of Quetneklan's cult and used it to empower her greatest champion, formally a slave, with the blood god's power. In that moment the slave's name faded into the shadow of the past and replaced by a name that would inspire only fear, The Bloodlord Mandurik."

Finally done, but it could've been better. I just had to dish out a villian so I can dontinue with the rest.

Originaly whipped this out when I was in Beograd, visiting Skythemoonwarrior for Japanizem; which may I remind you it was AWESOME! ^^

I'll tell you something, anthronised primates, especially the ones with long snouts are hard to draw. XP
Anyway, so the Bloodlord Mandurik, came to be.

This MANDRIL (not baboon, big differance) is one of the villians in TOA series. And as the title states, he's a servant of 2 masters:
The 1st is the Serpent Blood God, Quetneklan; who has granted him the power of blood magic; and Sinn the Crimson Lady, who provided him with means to access those powers.
And the little imp on his shoulder is Quetneklan's servant on the mortal realm, a familiar, trough which the Bloodlord is able use the powers given to him by his god.

The Quetneklan's design was provided by Rakshiv, from this forum.

Oh, did I mention and he's also Sinn's "man servant"? XD lol

"Gah! This place will be the end of me..."
Grimmoro grumbled as he went by the ragged corners of Dagger's Edge Peeks. With his feet, not used to hard razor terrain and with the scorching sun beatting down on him, with his skin not resistant to heat, he was probably suffering the most of everybody else. All he could think was getting to the creek, which he saw when they passed the ridge on the other side. It was the only thing on his mind that could releave him from frustration before they continue the journey to Raldinian Valley the next morning.
As he finally arrived into the clearing, the sound of rushing water echoing from close distance, made him give a small sigh of releaf. With being able to soak in the cold refreashing stream on his mind, he charged at it, but just before he could make the jump for it, something jumped out of the stream right before him, distracting him for a brief moment, because of which he tripped over himself and flanted him face into the dirt.
As he lifted him head, he could only make a grimase at noticing a too familiar short stature sitting on the ground, back turned toward him and replying with that too familiar innocent and careles tune:
"Hello, Mori. ~ Care to join me?"

Decided to fiddle aground a bit after seeing a FA live stream commision.
I haven't done any "actual" nudity in years and even back there they were just copy poses from other place.
Surprisingly this took me only 2 days and didn't even planned to "shop it". XD

Lao is by far my person fav female in the series. ^^ Simply due to the fact the doesn't require increased cleavage like a certain other feline to look cute and/or sexy. XD lol
So don't bother cursing her for having her hand in the way, because you won't find anything there. She's not yet reached that stage of development. XD Maybe later... like 3 years maybe. XP

Decided that Matriarch of the Justicars, Kal'Reia needed a lil remake, this time in her full appearance.

So I added white hair to her (I mean you can't pass on the idea that she's actually grandma XD), gave her a different set of horns and finally fixed her body parts size.

i noticed you tend to draw the weapons really tiny in comparisson to the bodies. Try to do some research on medieval weapons. A lot of your swrods look like little kitchen knifes in the hands of the characters. And the crossbow is just tiny. (also, is that cow-man holding his axe by the blade? Isn't he afraid of cutting his fingers off? Or is it just a really dull blade?) Here's a little bit from google and wikipedia:

A bastard sword can be 1 to 1.5m long, so about two thirds of the height of a character, and is relatively thin at ~4cm (the width of the wrist or a bit thinner). A gladius would be about 65-80cm long, so about the length of the character's arm, and up to 8 cm thick. A modern fencing Sabre (which is often shown in medieval settings, though the sabers of the time were different) would be 88cm long and quite thin. A Mace's length can vary a lot, but they need to have enough reach, so at least as long as the gladius.

As for a crossbow, while pistol-sized crossbows did (and do) exist, they were useless against even thin armour and at long ranges. A smallish crossbow would be the length of and arm, while large ones can be as tall as their wielder (of course, there is no theoretical maximum, but bigger than that and you'd have to mount it to a charriot or drag it on four wheels and call it a balista).

A medieval spear should be taller than a person by a good bit. Classical-era spears and hunting spears can be much shorter, but they are usually thrown, not so much used as a melee weapon.

A medieval battle axe would be about 80cm tall (one handed) to 150cm tall (two handed, dual bladed). A swiss halberd measures around 2.2 meters.(that's abot 35% to 40% taller than the character)

Yeah, some of the pics you're refering to are kinnda old and I haven't properly updated them yet, as for Mister Smite (aka cow-man), he's DA BEAST, a lil axe blade would hurt him. =P

Thanks for the feedback and suggestion still. =)

Finally, a long overdue character remake. I should be ashemed, because this is the main protagonist of the series and I haven't drawn him since like... a year ago. ^^;

Anyway, here's Larcel Varaldo. =)

The remake I had comminng for a long time.
Martesa finally looks more religious with the new clothes. =)

Also made better appearance of her weapons, + adding a religious symbol on the hilt of the sword.

Oh and lets put in Divine light just in case. =P
