Invasion of Normandy?
  • #12

@OneDudeBro: did you read the rules?
Person who guesses correctly posts the next pic. You don't just do it whenever you feel like it.
  • #13

@Dr.Klaus no but it was in WWII
@Carcharocles
You didn't post one so I did.

You have to wait for him to post one.
  • #15

If I'm not mistaken, I need confirmation I was right before I can post one. :P
  • #16

oh ok well my bad. ;_; Besides that one was pretty easy.
  • #17

@onedudebro: Ummm, Yeah it is the normandy invasion.

Maybe you think it's d-day. that's the same thing.

I stand corrected.

@Dr.Klaus Actually it is Operation Market Garden another airborne invasion.
Well know that you got it and I know the rules I guess you post the next image.
Yeah it did seem sorta confusing.

Yes. Turns out it's a subsequent push further inland following the Normandy invasion. Hence why the image is often mislabeled, as my searches have verified.

Guess this read the link location faggots point in history.
  • #21

Well durr Mister Jerk, we all know that, the point is not to cheat.

It can be viewed as some sort of trust building excercise.

Or not.
  • #22

I kinda trust the people here not to cheat.

Ooh, this could be fun - like that video topic, which sadly died because nobody knew enough about Italian films. Oh dear.
  • #25

Is it my turn? We kinda went haywire for a bit. I'll assume it is and give this game a proverbial adrenaline shot to the heart:

On another note, anyone who just copies the image location to find the answer need to be kicked in the nads. If they don't have that particular body part, then punching them in the stomach 47 times is an acceptable substitute.
  • #26

The Invasion of the Bastille by french revolutionaires? (it's probably dead wrong but, whatever)

I've seen this in a textbook before... I know that is is London, but I'm trying to remember the correct time... I know it was the WW II time period but I'm trying to remember what was the specific event...

Having actually been to London, I'm going to guess that it's the Great Fire of London. Let me see if I can also remember the year from memory... 1666?
  • #30

Wacko is correct. Your turn.

I could make a guess on that, but I believe I'll let someone else go first. ^_^
  • #36

Chernobyl? Or the area around it, Prypiat and all.
Ok, ILB, i guess you're right. AFter the explosion at the nuclear facility and the evacuation of the area. If it isn't, i don't know any other place that would look so much like a ghost town, especially with snow.

I think you're right about that.

Well, you need to say the historical event it is connected to, more than just the place name. ^_^
  • #39

That's definitely Soviet architecture at least.

And since when did you have "trust-building" faggotry on the internet? Are we all going to make lanyards and braid each other's hair before butt-fucking each other to sleep?
  • #40

Ciclopotis is right, this is the abandoned city of Prypiat.
  • #41

Ok, the event was the Chernobyl disaster of 1986. A poorly planned test of the reactor cooling backup system resulted in a sequence of events that led to a hydrogen explosion in the core that destroyed the containment building and spread radioactive debris throughout the surrounding area.

As the generators were shut down, the idea was that the remaining kinetic energy they contained would be enough to power water pumps cooling reactor #4 until the backup generators came online some minutes later. They were wrong.

Engineers saw the core temperature rising and attempted to shut down the reactor by inserting cadmium control rods, ready neutron absorbers designed to stop the fission process and reduce power output. The rods were tipped with graphite, which has the property of actually accelerating nuclear fission reactions. As the tips of the control rods went in, the reactor reached a temperature that was too high and they jammed partially inserted. Hydrogen gas ignited, blowing up the building and releasing most of the reactor into the environment.

Do I get to post one now? :D
  • #42

No, I got it rigth first. Here's one:

Hint: The fire of London reminded me of this. And it will be hard to guess for most of you.

no fair! you just said the place not the event =(
  • #44

recheck the post, i edited it (no sense in posting a different one)
  • #45

So it's a fire, and a tsunami? What?!?!
  • #46

Ah , now there's the thing: it's both! (although technically not a tsunami). I'll tell you guys what it is if you don't guess it over the next hour or so, for the sake of the game.
  • #47

Supertyphoon Tip???
  • #48

Wrong! It happened in Europe. Also, it was one of the most devastating ones to ever have happened in that continent.

  • #49

Oh...

Then it must be an earthquake somewhere. And I can't think of any big ones that happened in europe off the top of my head.
