id go for the rant, ive had to stand at attention for 3 hours whilst having our drill sergeant yell nothing but abuse at us

Love can be rather annoying after a while, but hate is rather tedious, and leads to nothing getting done in the world? Why not destroy everything then, in a world that only showers hate, or why live a life, that's a lover's lie?

Parachute into the desert with wet weather gear. If I get too hot I can just strip. Jumping from 20 meters into water with no parachute won't do much less damage that making the same jump onto concrete (I'll die.) So the choice is rather obvious.

(Actually that's technically true, but considering you have nerves deep into your tissue and muscles, you will likely die of smoke inhalation before the pain stops, and if not, it will hurt like hell for a LONG time.)
