Superbowl XLVI, Football and other Sports

So yeah decided to make a thread for the upcoming football season (American Football).

I just wan't to hear everybody's Superbowl XLVI predictions, maybe their favorite teams, and who you think is going to the play offs.

Me personally I like the Raiders I know they won't make it to the Superbowl but I think they just might make it to the play offs I really don't care as long as they beat the chargers.


So let's hear everybody else's opinion. Oh yeah you could talk about other sports but my main focus is football.

Nope, Lockout ended brah. I have always been a Brownie. It's tough, but I think Tom Heckert, Pat Shurmur, and Mike Holmgren can do something special with free-agent tradings coming up. They already proved their draft pick prowess. Who knows. They probably won't make the playoffs though being in the same division as the Ravens and Steelers, whom are so stacked.

I predict the Packers, Eagles or Steelers (to my dismay) will be top favorites for the next Superbowl. The Patriots need their WR's to step it up for Tom Brady if they are going to compete. The Charger's are cursed and just crap out early in the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers has evolved into something special for the Packers, so I would pick them to repeat as Superbowl champions this year.

I completely agree with your last paragraph. The Pats have a great QB but the WRs gotta step up and make things happen. I really can't wait to see the Steelers defensive play because my football teams defense is "supposedly" used by the Steelers but I guess we'll see when the season starts. I'm already looking forward to the Chargers crappy seasons so I could talk shit at school. I live in SD so you know how it is.

The Raiders were actually pretty surprising last year, now that I think of it. It's amazing what can happen after you drop the NFL's worst number 1 draft pick ever. *cough* JaMarcus slob *cough*

If they play more consistent this year, they will go far. They seemed hot and cold last year. Like one game they post like 40+ points. Then the next they get shut-out or something. Basically, how the Browns were in 2007 when they narrowly missed the playoffs with a 10-6 record.

I know what you mean they should've a lot sooner he was such a Failure but last year they did pretty good with Jason Campbell hopefully they can just keep in the game and play with all they got.

I must admit, though, I am a spiteful Big Ten College Football fan. So to see SEC's overrated quarterbacks struggle/fail at the professional level gives me bittersweet candy bowl satisfaction. (i.e. Tim Tebow and perhaps Cam Newton).

But you know what? I feel for the Panthers, so I guess my support for them to get better than being 1-10 outweighs my selfish hatred for the SEC.

Yeah I think Cam Newton is good but the team he is going to won't help him get better.

My brother plays lacrosse for North Texas. So yeah.

I don't think we're going to have any idea of who might and might not go to the next super bowl until the dynamics are set. Ensembles that worked once may not work against new defensive combinations, and the only thing that will interest me really is what they attempt to make the talent they have more cohesive. Who do I want? Green Bay or San Diego are my favorites to watch. I'd be a faggot if I didn't back Dallas to some extent because, fuck, you have to root for your hometown; but I could live without a decent football team this season since I'm still on a joy-high from the Mavericks beating Miami.

They're alright. I have no opinion of them. They haven't really been a consistent court presence in awhile.

I do agree with you there hasn't been enough information to really make any good predictions but they're still welcome.
It's nice to see some more people on this thread and I don't like volleyball. Mostly because a lax teammate left to plat\y Volleyball so yeah. :nope:

Yeah, you do have to find the right people to play with, but then it's fun! The problem that I have with volleyball, though, is that I'm usually doing all the work, but I don't mind. It's still fun! 8-D

Our local team (The Chiefs) has a tendency to ignore preseason, do insanely well for the first four or five games of regular season, and then quickly become one of the worst teams in the NFL.

I'd honestly rather go next door to Kauffman Stadium and watch the Royals. To bad both stadiums are hellishly overpriced.

I usually watch NFL for the rivalry games same goes for college even though college football is a lil more fun to watch because they actually take risks with new plays and not punting all the time on 4th down. Yeah I would much rather be playing football than watching it but it's good to watch after practice or during off season.

The Chiefs are at the brink of becoming a powerhouse. Dallas is a mystery to me. Tony Romo is awful in my opinion. He might as well be the next Derek Anderson or that 2nd string Cardinals quarterback (Leinhart I think), who gets cut from the team during preseason camp. They did make their second half of last season somewhat respectable, so who knows if they will continue on that high.

You know what I hate? When one team wins and someone has to be a little shit and say, "Well, so-and-so won, but the other guy had the better team." If they had the better team, they would've won when it mattered. That's what it means to have a good team.

@DMLD: I think most people enjoy 'upset' victories. Nothing brings me more joy than to see the Browns beat the Steelers, which as of late is now always considered an upset.


@Carcharocles: Cleveland and Kansas City are very much alike, aren't they? Remember when the Indians and Royals were duking it out for the first month of the season as the best 2 teams in the entire league? Where are they now? Indians are falling out of contention against Detroit, and the Royals have become recurrent bottom-dwellers in the standings...

Chronic choke Syndrome to Terminal Choke syndrome. We were a decent team last year. This year, we still have our key players, but it feels like the blooper reels are running. To top it off, there are times where it almost seems like Matt Cassel has forgotten which team he's playing for. We're also very, very far from becoming a powerhouse now; we're that spider in the toilet bowl that's been flushed, fighting in futility to keep from being sucked down.

Which makes dealing with my mom (a Chiefs fan) and a friend ours named Jennifer (a Raiders fan) extremely unbearable.

@Carcharocles: I have Matt Cassell as my fantasy back-up QB. I would get more points if I played an empty quarterback spot rather than Matt Cassel lolololz.

@Jerk: This should be Texas' year for WS. Cardinals are on fire right now though. I think you'd rather verse them over the Brewers since Milwaukee is so hard to beat at home.

Also, the new Lebron James McDonald's commercial makes me smile.

Holy shit. What I said earlier about the Chiefs? Well, against the Raiders yesterday they made me eat my words with a side of crow.

A twenty-eight to nothing shutout victory, helped in part by the Raider's complete and total lack of discipline on the field. We are making a comeback. Let's hope it sticks.

Edit: so my mom and our friend Jennifer made a bet on both Raiders games. Whichever team loses, the one supporting the losing team wears the other team's colors as facepaint the following Tuesday. I've told my mom to take my camera, because I want to see the look on Jennifer's face while it's covered in Red and Gold.
