I'm normally a fairly peaceful person here, but this statement really drives me crazy.
He might have earned it, but he doesn't deserve it.
Who are YOU to decide this? Where's YOUR PHD?
Have you ever been on a thesis defense committee? That
is the standard of judgement for PHD candidates.
I bet you don't even know how someone even goes about trying to become
a PHD student in university.
You're totally unqualified to make this statement, and even if you were, you'd have to back it up, which you don't.
Aren't we supposed to discuss this?

You know, the real answer is this: Hitting your kids at all does nothing to help them. Do you want to know how I know? Because, starting from the time I was young, my father would hit me if I did something wrong. Not with his hands, not at first, I was just a kid. But he would take me and smack me across the ass with his belt. I walked away with a stinging butt, red marks, and a deep hatred for him. It did nothing to make me realize what I had done was wrong, I was just angry and upset. He threatened more than once to use his 'biker belt', one that was studded with small, steel spikes. I was scared shitless of him, and still am, to the point I consider calling the cops when he threatens to 'beat me to a bloody pulp and throw me out of his house'. More recently, he hit me again, but this time he punched me straight in the gut and knocked the wind out of me. I was on the floor. Again, it didn't help him, and all it did was make me hate him and not want to listen to him.
Furthermore, his mother is a stupid bitch as well. You don't fight violence with violence. Treating your kids kindly, fairly, and firmly from the very beginning wouldn't result in shit like this.
The only time my dad spanked me with a belt was when I was little, and only when I was little, because the was when I directly disobeyed him or when I was being nasty with my brothers. But he used a belt that was flat. Now all he does is flick me in the ear, since I only do minor stuff, like when I don't take out the trash. Or he gives me a punch in the arm. I don't sense anything malicious when he does it, though.

Does it really matter that you've seen it before, though?

If I remember correctly, McGraw has a Ph.D. in psychology. He went to a university on a football scholarship, but he got injured. I think Dr. Phil earned a master's degree in experimental psychology and a doctorate in clinical psychology. He started a psychology practice with his da-da, if I'm not mistaken, but during ten years or so of treating patients, Phil didn't have the fucking patience for the damn job.
McGraw helped the Oprah Winfrey in a court battle against some sort of beef industry (and you know what happens when it comes to Oprah and beef). After that Dr. Phil became a psychology expert on Oprah's show, and I don't need to explain what that led to.
He is also full of conservative bullshit, and overall, bullshit. So, even though he has the credentials, I don't respect him enough to see to it that he is a doctor, when all he does is give out BS that people can easily tell ya or make up. Some of it is good, but most of it is shit. It's like if I said, "Don't jump into lava." You shouldn't, but I highly doubt that I need to inform you of that.
Nearly anyone can do his job. All you need to do is be able to express yourself in a manner that is persuasive and generous. I'm pretty sure you can do his job, I can do his job, Toffee can do his job, my brother can, and the list goes on.
I consider him as much as a doctor... Let me put it this way, Phil is to doctors as Palin is to governors. (Keep in mind, Palin is no longer a governor.)
Palin's smarter than you.
Dr. Phil's smarter than you.
And although his job might be stupid, you have to remember: Dr. Phil's smarter than you.
I'm going to guess that you love catcher in the rye.
