Star Captain Rick (Back from unofficial hiatus?)(Nope It's rebooted elsewhere)
I could throw my 2 cents in here and there, and help with makeup tips and props. Hell, if you're willing I could make you some props fairly cheap

problem there would be transporting the props
Anyways this does sound like something that is possible, especially with your training. I wish you allot of luck with your production

If you are willing to go as far as mailing props to me that would be super appreciative yeah
And I'm sure I'll need good makeup tips so I may send a question your way sometimes Bourbon
And thank you Redjack I hope we make it work as well!

Haha, yeah Ahsaan if dreams were reality...
Besides the casting for this would be done within my school anyhow, and in a few circles of friends. It's not like I can pay people to act considering this film wouldn't turn a profit
Unless you want me to charge you.

UPDATE: We've come across a good idea for the story. I was at first just going to do a standalone adventure of Rick and his crew but then it hit me, How does a man like Rick become a Captain? So in light of this idea the movie is going to be about Rick's origin story. Or in other words how he managed to become Captain of his own ship.
Should be fun!

Hooray for prequels! I bet an alien space princess bestows upon him a galatic space prophecy! Make sure to write these ideas down! OAO

Space...prophecy...by an alien princess....
Huh.
Hrm.
Err.
Mmm.
Wut.
Sorry I just don't know how to incorporate that
I'm going to have enough trouble working out a feasible script to explain how Rick got his status without it being too over the top. It needs to be juuuuust within my capabilities.

Lol, no problem really. I was just messing with you. But really, I hope the script turns out well.

Did you say....FILM? Whoa. Whoa. Talk about responsibility right there. Films are hard work. Which is why I shall never ever make one. Good luck though! This looks like a funny, and pretty awesome comic!

Ah ha, thanks Tiggy, yeah it will be difficult in some sense but have faith! I've done this stuff for awhile now, since freshmen year I have worked in school events, graduation set up, several beauty pageants, a live telethon were I did camera, then audio directing then technical directing, I was in a college film, I film tons of sports games for the school and get paid for it by the coaches, I have access to the studio, including a green screen, and I can work on special effects like that hologram for star wars you see all the time. Short version is, I just need some props, and a good cast of actors to work with.
I'm glad you like the comic too! I intend to update it with a new comic page soon

Alrighty guys, here is what's going on with the film now, my friend Josh will be playing Rick. (A very high honor) and then Mike will be played by...Mike. Did I ever mention that character was off a real friend? I don't have a photo of Josh but here is one of Mike:
He may be one of my best buds, but I can recall quite a few times I wanted to punch that pretty face for having absolutely no trouble in getting girls to like him. He just has to flick his hair and boom, instant lay. (I've counted how many times he has flicked his hair before too. 21 times when we were just walking in the hallway.) Lucky Bastard

You could probably get people to do it just because it's a movie and lots of people wanna be in said movies. Fuck man, use it to pick up women at parties. "Hey, wanna be in a movie I'm making?". Then after she slaps you explain it's a space action comedy and she'd probably consider it.
I'd definitely be willing to mail props out, and I guarantee I'd be cheaper than most custom jobs. I'd lower the prices 'till we just about break even for cost of supplies, just because I like this prospect. Just throw my name in the credits, dig?
As for a background for Rick...do you have any plans on explaining the whoosh punch glowy eyes?

Actually, I've been meaning to expand upon that in the next page of the comic I'm working on. So fear not, thou shalt be enlightened. The movie will certainly involve some of that glowy eye whoosh punching though so that should be super duper cool
And as for props, that would be great for you to do and I'd appreciate it a lot too. I'll give you my mailing address in a pm shortly so you know where to send it. Also yes once we work out the cost of supplies I'll be willing to pay you for the props
It's not just props though, I'll also need to work out costumes if you're any good with that. It's not really hard considering the apparel would just be just the jacket for Rick, and then uniform shirts for Connor and Mike and Callie's uniform dress. As far as colors go, Connor has the Engineer gold color and Mike has the Technology blue from the Star Trek series. Callie's uniform dress would be a royal purple or so. And uhm, getting her antennas would be really helpful.

I can do the antenna pretty easy, I've worked with costume latex before and it'd just be little props stuck on with spirit gum and skin latex then makeup over that. Unless you're just having them come out of her hair, in which case they'd just be hair clips or something
Costumes I COULD do, I don't wanna guarantee that because I'd be getting my friend's help with a sewing machine and she's not a sure thing sometimes. I could make badges/emblems I guess, if I don't end up doing the whole costume. Send me the measurements of said actors anyway, just in case.
I'll be looking forward to an explanation, I had some ideas for the movie but I can't speculate at his abilities if you already have a plan for that

Hello Hello Lads and Ladies! An update on the comic while I'm in the midst of schoolwork and the film stuff. Bourbon pointed out I was sort of leaving you in the dark about how Rick had some sort of "glowy eyed kickass switch" that I hadn't explained yet. But like I stated earlier, "Thou shalt be enlightened" and thou hast been rightfully so. Cross and Rick are half breeds. Shouldn't be a hard concept to grasp in a setting where humans and aliens mix oh so casually. Explains Cross' eyes too. Betcha all thought I was just adding in a little more "anime" feel to it, huh? I'm probably not going to expand much more on where Rick's alien heritage comes from too soon. I prefer to just explain things without really stating it too bluntly. "Rick could do that because he is actually part alien." "Oh okay."
Also, I hope you noticed I took out some smudges on them to give a crisper look. Not too much though. Just a little bit.
--Right, almost forgot one thing. I felt Cross wanted a hair cut, his big spiky hair thing was just a bit much for me. We both think that shorter hair fits him better. "Hey wait ThatGuy, you totally effed the continuity with where his white patch of hair was." Oh yeah? YEAH? Well in truth, that patch of hair was always there along with the other one. It was hidden by the big bangs from his darker hair. He is somewhat self conscious about it so he just got rid of the patch on the other side instead. That's all there is to it really. Please comment on how you think this looks or if you have more questions about the film project.

Okay, half-breeds. I was ttly gonna guess 'military experiment in creating super soldier space marines', I should've gone the other way with it. I hope you put a unique spin on it.
- #120
- 13 February 2012 - 08:08 AM
Well it's a bit of a unique spin already. Cross is a half breed but the most we can tell from his lineage is the cat eyes and able to take Rick's punches well enough. And yet Rick's seems to be flipping the fuck out and beating the crap out of guys. Goes to show you they're not on the same side of a coin. And I haven't even revealed why Rick kept that on the down low yet either so, look forward to that in the future.

Hi guys!
As of now the script for the movie is finished! I'm going to run it through with my friend and partner in crime Jared, whom none of you know
but has the same expertise as I do in film and even more in writing. In the mean time I must now call out to Bourbon so we may discuss props and costumes necessary.
That is all.

It's about the props mostly. I'm wondering what you feel like making really, but more so than that if you have a skype or anything that would make reaching you faster I'd be happy to have that.

Umm, I have an msn I'm almost always on. Facebook too if you feel up to adding me, pretty sure toasters will be able to access facebook by this fall so you've got a good shot of reaching me then.
Sub-Urbanartist@live.com for MSN, Urbano Joseph Maher for Facebook. Hit me up whenever.

Next time Bourbon, give those contact details through a PM so that not everybody can add you or see your personal info such as your e-mail and your name.

See, I would've, but then I remembered I don't really care.

Alright then thanks Bourbon. I'll just have to make an MSN account if that's my best shot
I do want to mention that I don't have much for you to do really if anything yet. I have a couple friends who also will be making props and Jared and I are going to order the costumes. Also we ran through the script together and everything looks air tight. Is that awesome or what?
Make sure you guys send your appreciation out to my man Jared once we manage to get this project completed. He's basically Taking on half the work with this so we both make it look good.
Not to mention the total price coming so far for costumes alone is about $160 so splitting that cost with him REALLY helps.

INTERMISSION COMIC
I shit you not friends, this was based on a real conversation between my friend and I. And yes that friend is indeed the basis of the character Dr. Taylor
His dream was so hilarious to me I just had to draw it.

Uhh, Hi there everyone. Been awhile huh?
Technically I was bumping around in the threads here and there but let this fall into hiatus.
Basically here's how things are now. Kinda been busy with other things and just haven't been updating on here. Disappointing I know. What's a bit more disappointing is that the movie for Star Captain Rick will have to be put on hold for now as I've ran into a few problems. I'm not saying it won't happen but at this rate it will have to just take a seat. I do have the script for those of you who wish to read it for whatever purposes. And also to make up for not being able to deliver that prequel movie I'll be posting updates of Rick soon and work on some other film projects (which will probably be in the AV section)
I also want to to get a grasp on a new comic while working on Star Captain Rick. I think it'll be a good call since it'll give me a chance to work on some other things like new characters and settings. All I can say is that the new comic will not be a sci fi parody like Star Captain Rick. Thanks for tuning in and keep your fingers crossed everyone.

This was an art piece I started awhile ago, it's technically not finished but screw it. This is good enough.
Bonus points if you know what armor Rick is wearing and where it's from.
