Shippers unite! (Against the other group of shippers) Hey, listen!

Sorry, I'm kind of new here, so I didn't read that one. Now I understand why no one talks about him as a rapist. I get it now. Sorry.

Haha, it's a comic that you could get if you get BCI. Alternate realities are fun.

Lucy x Mike.

What can I say?

I'm a sucker for canon ships.

And yes...

I mean these:

Would you say it being in an Alternate Reality allows it to be the answer to "what if?" arguments? Do they accurately speak to the personality of the characters by showing what they actually would do if they were in those proposed situations?
  • #354

Yes, the alternate realities such as Another Path or Another Chance(The Augustus and Daisy one) show exactly how the characters would have acted if one event had turned out differently in the story.

I don't think I really follow the question. Are you asking why are shippers bad? or are you asking what's up with them in general, because both answers can probably be found somewhere on this thread.

Just found the comic a couple days ago, already read the entire thing twice.

Im still for Mike x Lucy. I just gotta see them together.

Im good for all the canon couples except for Paulo and Jasmine. He seriously needs to get back with Tess...

The other inanimate objects told them it would never work, that something as technological as an iPhone could never build a life with something as old-school as a piece of chalk. But they didn't listen. They're such rebels.

They figured that both of them were white, and both of them were outdated by more recent inventions (the iPhone 4 and the PowerPoint presentation, respectively). So they set off on a ship into the timeless Bermuda triangl, and set themselves adrift, waiting for the inevitable disaster.

I'm all for Mike x Lucy, but yeah Mike has been a hypocritical whiny douche since about, oh, "Love My Way". It's really annoying, but I'm sticking with that particular ship because I really hate Sandy, and I'm still really suspicious of Paulo.
  • #372

Just for the fun of it I'm going to ask, why are do you hate Sandy and why are you suspicious of Paulo?
  • #373

There's just too much hope associated with Sandy. "We'll make it work! We'll make it work!" It's just wearing on me and I'm sick of it. And that "Maishul" nonsense bugs me too.

And Paulo is just all over the fucking place. I don't even think he knows who or what the hell he wants, so I can't really trust his intentions toward anyone at this point.
  • #374

...and you hate Sandy why? It's actually Mike spamming all the 'IT WILL HAPPEN THIS WILL HAPPEN' while Sandy moves on with her career but still misses him.
And even with the Maishul thing, that's not even a reason to really hate her. It's just a quirk she's kept.

Sorry, but after a while all the Sandy hate is irritating. She's barely done a thing except for love and miss Mike.

Uh I'm not sure your reason to hate Sandy really makes much sense? But alright to each their own.

Paulo's actually really easy to figure out actually, he loves Lucy but believes he can't have her since in his eyes she's too dedicated to Mike and he doesn't have a chance, but since he believes he can't date her he is giving Jasmine a chance and going out with her. He's grown attached to her because of all the fun they have but he's always going to feel something for Lucy. Plus he would sooner break up than cheat on someone so unless there are other intentions you're thinking of you can trust him.

I find that they're both too idealistic about it. I don't think they're gonna reunite for any significant amount of time anytime soon, and she's not going to suddenly be less busy enough for something to come out of it, and there's no reason why she shouldn't be aware of that fact. I dunno, it seems like she's leading him on a bit.

Ok, fine, I don't hate her, but I still think something's up. I'd expect her to be a little more responsible about it, to be honest.

He's a womanizer. He started the comic a womanizer. Tess shows up, he develops an interest in her, but the womanizing continues. Tess out, Lucy back in, still womanizing. Lucy back out, Jasmine in; nothing has proven to me that he has the womanizing out of his system.
  • #377

A womanizer is more of a person that would go around having sex with women left and right. While it can also be a person who flirts with a lot of women, that's a very lesser form. You'll notice that Paulo only flirts when he's not in a relationship, but when he is in one or at least is trying to make one work, he's pretty loyal and dedicated to the person in the relationship.

About nothing proving to you that he has the womanizing out of his system, Another path is a huge example since he had a perfect opportunity to have sex with Lucy yet he knew it was the wrong thing to do so he restrained himself.
  • #378

I'm not saying he doesn't have his moments, everyone has their moments. Regardless of definitions, it's still inconsistent enough that I'm not sure about it.
  • #379

I'm not sure what you mean about it being inconsistent? I mean it's pretty cut and dry, he's loyal in a relationship and when he's not in a relationship he's a flirt, which isn't a bad thing because he doesn't have any commitments.

ReyOzymandias, if you want proof that Paulo stays pretty loyal when he's in a relationship, here's what Taeshi said. However, when Paulo's not in a relationship, then he feels free to flirt.

As to an earlier statement of yours: it's true that Sandy is just as busy as Jasmine is. However, Sandy is clear across the country and so can't see Mike easily anyway. She's kind of being pushed by her parents to work hard and be successful in her modelling career. We haven't seen her and Mike spend time together since she moved, so we don't know if they would make time for each other in a face-to-face relationship. Heck, we don't even know if they would truly still be compatible with each other after all this time. Both of them would have changed a lot.

Sandy did take the time to visit Mike in "Hot Pursuit", but he wasn't home because he was busy looking for her in Maraschino. And Mike wanted to visit her in "Invitation", but Sandy had to go to Europe for business that summer.
  • #381

Ok, fine fine fine, from the mouth of Taeshi, Paulo is alright. I looked too much into it.

In "Hot Pursuit", she was in Maraschino on business anyway, and she wouldn't have been able to visit for long anyway. Again with "Invitation". In both cases, business kinda impeded any substantial rendezvous anyway. I'm not saying they're not going to get along anymore, I'm just saying the circumstances are a HUGE obstacle that both are...well...seems like they're waiting for it to suddenly go away.

Look, ok, fine, I have nothing against either of them. I lose. I'll go back to being unreasonably attached to the MikexLucy ship.

You guys are just arguing semantics.

Here:
Noun 1. womanizer - a man who likes many women and has short sexual relationships with them.

I actually would be inclined to believe that Paulo can be considered a "womanizer" on the basis that he wouldn't necessarily need to engage in sex with said women, but just make an attempt at opening that relationship. And on this note, I don't particularly look down on someone like that.

I think Rey has a defensible position in his Sandyxmike/pauloxlucy hate.

Can you explain why you think it's defensible though because you sort of just said you don't really look down on Paulo for what he does.

ReyOzymandias does have a defensible position, in that there's no guarantee Mike and Sandy would still be perfect for each other after more than six years. They chat with each other a lot now, but that's still no substitute for actually spending time with the other person and getting to know them. And it seems like they never get around to doing that, for one reason or another.

But you know what? Upcoming is the perfect time for Mike and Sandy to meet: Christmas! Sandy wouldn't be busy with school or modelling then. They could at least spend a few days together. Mike, get on that, will you? Take the initiative here instead of just mooning over Sandy. :P

Hue Heffner doesn't take holiday breaks. I doubt Sandy would either.

Well there being no guarantee can be said for basically everything else in the comic which makes it a hardly defendable point I'd say, but oh well. The thing is though, if they keep calling each other back and continue to enjoy having conversations with each other, it seems pretty logical that if they met up things could only improve in that they can interact with each other even more.

Sandy, on the other hand, is a 16-year-old girl. Surely she must take some breaks from time to time, and Christmas would most likely be one of them.

I suppose I should have said "Despite what I think" before that, because I don't necessarily share the same sentiment; however you have to admit that some of the things Rey said held some logic to it.

I have felt the same way as Rey about Sandy. Specifically, I've always found it odd that Sandy would apparently wait completely faithfully for six years for Mike, as the letters steadily get less and less frequent, when so far as I can tell during those six years nothing was ever said confirming what they were to each other. I don't think a normal person would be so devoted to an elementary-school boyfriend yet so apparently unconcerned if he felt the same way. I suspected that she was deceiving Mike for a while, but since it's been well over a year and there have been no other signs, I've come to accept her and half the time even I forget that I don't trust her quite as much as other characters.

Well, think about mike's half of the story.
did he stay faithful? Not exactly. It's a point of contention but the answer is not a definite yes.
Even though he seemed to be the one who was more blinded and drugged by the love in the first place. Like the bliss put him in some sort of hybernation. Sandy, on the otherhand, was still awake enough to pay attention to the fealings of others.

If mike had a story to tell when they got beck togeather, so did she.
However, it takes a big person to do that. Maybe she isn't as honest. The only other possability is that something has been sucking up her life so that she was unable to do anything but study, sleap, eat, and take care of that thing.
Heeeeeey, isn't she unable to visit mike regardless of the fact that she is a modle and has cash to fly around after contracts with?
