What are your opinions on this community?
The people here seem interesting, in the 'I don't give a fuck' kind of way. Hopefully I don't get too much crap for writing walls of text all the time, but I think I'm gonna like it here.

Also Wacko I'm sorry about the shitposting in Social Studies, admittedly I've gotten a lot lazier when it comes to detentioning topics that have been resurrected, or given out warnings. I've really just kind of got more bored of that and no other moderator seems to wanna help :\ Jerk has more than enough on his plate at Recess so I can't expect his assistance, so maybe I should consider another moderator to assist with Social Studies. I don't know though, I don't trust people.
It's kind of a pain because I would want to promote someone I know thinks similarly in terms of what is just fooling around and what is genuine shitposting, rather than someone who will be a tightass about having fun. It's a hard middle to reach.
EDIT!!!: I detentioned a shitload of threads, so I'm back in business now!

I will mention names, since hell, I can take the abuse.
Let's start with Susan. She doesn't express herself on the board much, but when she does, it seems like half the time it's because she's really annoyed at something someone said and she lets loose an unholy barrage at the hapless object of her scorn. I know she's a very blunt person, but I wonder if she's ever tried dealing with people in any other way. Like for example, a kinder, gentler correction that didn't come off as complete denigration delivered at high volume. Sometimes I think of her as an extreme Abbey, shouting down from the bully pulpit (yes, totally misusing that term in an ironic manner). I do know that if I were to pick someone to deal with newbies, it wouldn't be Susan. Patience is definitely not her strong suit.
Next, SushiJaguar. He's very blunt also, and not afraid to call people complete fuckwits if he thinks they deserve it. Hell, half the time I even agree with him (because I get annoyed with certain things too), but the other half I think he could've handled the situation in a better way. For example, offering help or advice to a new person instead of just calling them a retarded idiot. Granted, I think SushiJaguar has been commenting less often of late, and he can occasionally be nice to newbies, at least when greeting them.
Jerk is known for his quick wit, and he absolutely can make fun of your posts if he thinks it's humorous. Occasionally he can cross the line, but most of the time I think his comments are funny and stay on the right side of the line. (Now I hope this isn't just me giving him a pass because he's a friend of mine; please feel free to speak up if you feel otherwise about Jerk.)
I've already spoken of a couple of people who apparently seem to like creating shit threads in Social Studies purely for their own amusement. whf (Snooths) was the principal offender in the past, and now Meowth is following in his footsteps. Seriously, he's created six different variations of Random Chat, all of them rhyming. I have a low tolerance for this kind of stuff, though maybe that's just my Abbey nature.
Now since I seem to have built up a a head of steam, I may as well move on to other categories of lame. There are a few people who will argue you to death with esoteric statements that no one wants to figure out the logic of. These are the people you really, really would like to tell to just shut up, except of course they won't. Craft aids used to be in this category, until he wisely chose to take a break. Currently the most flagrant offender is DMLD96; I can only hope he follows Craft aids' example.
Then there are the run-of-the-mill annoyances. You know those people: they seemingly hang around the forum all day, making about a billion posts, posting in the same thread literally every two minutes, spamming image macros, creating new threads on inconsequential subjects, and so on and so forth. In the past, these actions also extended to roleplaying, posting porn, and hitting on other people in thread and via PM. We have a long history of these kinds of people (Chazfullmetal, Magical box of dirt [aka navi], Apoc, Wolf, TheLightorTheDark, Draixen, Chickety China, Lyxaran, rocknrollDaVE, etc.) Currently we have lt_amazil, Tensa Zangetsu and darkwolf328, among others. My advice for these people? Don't post so much, don't post the first one-liner you think of, don't post new threads unless you're sure they'll generate discussion, make intelligent posts, and don't complain about stupid shit. Read the rules and follow them, ask for help if you need it, be polite, and keep your emotions in check. All these things will help the rest of your fellow forum-goers immensely, and especially the moderators who have to put up with you.
Oh yes, and I really miss ILB. So wonderful, bubbly, and cheerful, and intelligent to boot. The perfect
[ Sammy: I can't be certain, but I think ILB is back at school and has chosen not to have any distractions. And 'she' is actually a 'he', or so he claims.
Man, I tend to post long things, don't I? Comments, criticism? Fire away.

Quote
I think that is the problem - targeting. There is an awful lot of talk about how this forum lets you say what you want, but what is often not accounted for would be the evident backlash. Yes, this is a very free forum, but it isn't as open as you think. Technically, it is like every other forum; you can say what you want if you're willing to accept the consequences - hell, that isn't just this forum, it is life! Sure, I can go to a Christian forum and praise the devil, but I will be banned; I can go to a music forum and tell everyone their tastes suck, but I will be met with a heavy defense; I can come to the BCB forums and tell everyone how gay MLP is, but I have to be ready for people to disagree (By the way, I didn't actually do the first two examples!). The only difference in these forums compared to others is that you have to be a complete fuck to get banned, but that doesn’t give you free reign to shoot your mouth off to your heart’s content – even if you can do so without crossing the line (the line being banned). I'm sure there are some people who are content arguing - I know I enjoy it now and then - but this forum is so hostile that saying anything disagreeable(even if it is honest) can easily turn into a small scale war.
Look, what I said to Suitcase wasn’t exactly a special case (no pun intended). Just because I dislike him to the point I felt it needed to be verbalized and defended, doesn’t mean he is the only one (just the biggest). I could go on for hours explaining why countless people here are complete fucks, and I’m sorry if that is harsh, but this community can just be ridiculous sometimes! I’m not saying I am without flaw either; Wacko, for example, does not like me very much. I don’t care, and I doubt he cares much, either. I’m certainly not going to pull some bullshit like ignoring him, acting passive-aggressive, getting friends to help, waging some involved psychological war with him, making false accusations… ect. I highly doubt he is going to assume I’m completely incapable of forming a coherent thought, either. Of course, even though I give Wacko this same respect does not mean I feel the same way about everyone. I personally feel there are many people here who, if I was to be completely honest and explain all the problems I had with them, would either fly off the handle, ignore me, belittle me, or just hate me.
For a person like me, it is a no win situation. Most people who brag about being able to take honest criticism really can’t, and it is appropriate too, since so many people chronically lie to save face – even the most ‘respectable’ people here. So I either keep quiet to be nice, or I be honest and become pegged a mean, stupid, asshole. At this point, I take a stance in the middle. I wait. I try to be fair, but if someone provokes or annoys me (which they do eventually), I will be honest with them, even if seems mean.
Also, maybe me, of all people, talking about how others can't take a criticism is hypocritical, but I stand by the fact that a criticism and a blunt insult are two different things. I can see a big difference between real sincerity; as opposed too public humiliation, petulant joking, and blatant disregard for another - whether that be through ignoring, underestimating, or insulting.
Don't for a minute think I'm alone in this thought, either. Just because others have not come out and said it forthright like me does not mean they aren't there, and it also doesn't mean there is something wrong with them. I don't blame them. Why would they want to come out, be sincere and honest, as you seem to encourage, only to meet heavy resistance in the form of arguing - that more closely resembles total warfare as opposed to makeshift debate (or possibly formal, I suppose) - and constant joking about something that clearly isn't a joke?

Sometimes the community here is a bit harsh, and occasionally I see people who are acting like they deserve to get flamed, but mostly the people here are somewhat intelligent and, if not kind, at least honest.

Doesn't know any better. Act's very childish sometimes. Ignore.

Blunt is a good word, but that's his personality. It's funny in a "I know it's not 100% serious, but he still is saying what is on his mind" sort of thing.
Jerk is known for his quick wit, and he absolutely can make fun of your posts if he thinks it's humorous. He's got a brain, and he uses it. A shit post by him is just that, a shit post. It's not his be all end all. 90% of the time they hit on the mark, otherwise you can ignore them.

Haven't really seen any meowth threads that bother me. Snooths I don't get most of the time, but alot of things are tolerated because I don't know. He was 20/80 to me, 20 good 80 bad.

Stupid people are stupid. ignore them

there will always be over posters. They won't really de-rail a topic, and can be conversed around if they are starting to post too much. Utterly harmless in the grand scheme

After getting to know most of the people you mentioned, they aren't bad people. Some are annoying and the ones from Recess were really just a bunch of kids who decided to have to much fun on the anonymity of the Internet.
But really that's just it, this is the Internet there will always be trolls, people who make you angry and you disagree with, and some kid just fucking around for fun. You just have to learn to make fun of yourself and let it go.
Cause honestly, there are people in here who have changed my life and I wouldn't trade what I've learned from them and the time I spent here for anything. I might just be a big sap at heart but it's true, this community has given my some of my best friends in the world and someone I love dearly, so maybe I'm just biased after all.

im not defending shit because i dont have to. i came across this thread and realized that everyone was talkin about me and i saw lacommie post and decided i couldnt resist. it was a post that pointed out the irony in her current statement and also how much she has changed her opinion on dealing with people (such as me!!!!!). i thought it was funny and not really putting a bad light on anyone since she now finds the fact that she had such a hatred for me funny. we were both looking for that quote for a while because it was so ridiculous and i found it and thought it would be an appropriate time to post it.
