Guys, I've drawn and inked pages 3 and 4 of BCB: Ocarina of Time, and I'll be uploading them later today.

To hold you over until then, I made two images :)

A small 200x100 banner for Spiraling Descent, I made this in about 5 minutes.

Spoiler

This is just a wallpaper I made in class out of boredom. I hope you enjoy!

EDIT: Ehhhh it's called Spiraling Decline. I'm stupid XD

I finished reading "Flight", it was great!
You have a pretty decent notion of the characters and their personality.
Hope to see more!
  • #53

Hah, thanks! I don't know if you've checked it out yet, but in BCB:OOT, I'm going to completely screw with their characters, making them follow the personalities of their characters. It'll be quite... odd. The only one who really keeps his personality is Mike, and even he's changed a bit.

Just make sure you prepare for the SCORN and DERISION that is oh so sure to follow on this lovely forum. :smirk:

I've finished pages 3 and 4. GOD THESE LOOKED SO BEAUTIFUL BEFORE THE SCAN WHYYYY.

Enjoy BCB:OOT :D

EDIT: I just realized that Panel 3 on comic 3 is really hard to read. It says '...Lucy?'"...Is that a problem?" "N-No!"

Hey guys, I took a bunch of books on drawing human anatomy out of the library, and I'll be giving them a read through tonight. Before that, though, I read a tutorial on how to do smoother lineart. I tried it, and while the original page looks decent, my scanner is shit, and they came out only slightly less ragged than usual.

Oh well...

Posted Image

I needed to get out of the slump I was in - I was only drawing anthros. So I tried drawing a human for the first time in a while. It's decent, imho. Not the way I envisioned it though.

I'm still sketching pages 5 and 6 of BCB:OOT. I'm also thinking of posting it in its own thread - thoughts?

Arms too short;
His right arm should be behind the chest muscle, not in front;
Sleeves should be a little longer;
Torso should be slightly turned to his right.
Otherwise looks good :)

I knew there was something wrong with that arm XD Thanks for pointing that out.
  • #59

Hey guys, I was doodling the other day, and started a legitimate web comic. It follows the story of a world where humans are second-class citizens, or the "Shadow class". No one gives a shit what happens to them - anthros are the dominant class. The comic follows the story of four outcast trying to survive in the xenophobic society.

Shadowed Levels

Shadowed Levels will update whenever the hell I feel like drawing the next page. Also, my scanner is a bitch. Sorry for the low-quality, I'll try and get a better image up shortly.

In other news, I've almost finished pages 5 and 6 of BCB:OOT.

Also, I coloured this like a retard. It looked so awful that I said "fuck it" and smudged the whole thing. Enjoy.

Currently, the text ranges from messy to illegible. Perhaps some of that is the scanner's fault, but I doubt that a better scanner will fix the problem. Either work on your handwriting or consider adding typed text after you scan; it's hard to enjoy a webcomic if you're struggling to decipher what anybody is saying. Or maybe make your speech balloons bigger so you never find yourself cramming words in? I don't really know, I've never tried to draw a comic.
  • #61

I tried to make my writing more legible in pages 5 and 6 of BCB:OOT. I'd love to hear thoughts on the series thus far.

Page 5
Spoiler

Dear God that page is random. If you've played the games, you'll understand his reaction, as well as why Mike dived in the river. If you've not, Talon is scared of Malon's rage, and there were guards in between the hill and where Talon was - it would have been impossible to sneak by them any other way.

And Mike got rupees!

Page 6
Spoiler

Whoah, no panels? WUT?

Poor Mike, he never seems to see the obvious. Lucky he's got Navi, really.
  • #62

Ah-ha. I get it because Ive played it. Took me awhile though. Anyway, I got an idea here... Now, no offense Spark, but you write a hell of a lot better than you draw...so maybe you should see if anybody on here might be willing to maybe draw some of the comics for you?....you could still like, draw individual pictures for practice..just throwing this out here.
  • #63

Getting someone to draw the comics for me and then claiming them as my own would be completely dishonest, and I'm not looking for co-authors and shit.

So no, thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not going to do that. The only reason I made the comic was to improve my drawing - if I'm not the drawing it, it has no purpose.

Also, that's the lazyass way out.
  • #64

Yeah, your right. Sorry.
  • #65

Apology accepted :) No offense taken.

Also, I drew two new pages of Shadowed Levels, which looks far better and are much better. Well, relative to page 1... e_e May draw another one later today.

But since you're all being patient/semi-invisible, take a cookie- er, button!

For those who're interested, I've updated Shadowed Levels with 4 new, legible pages.

Also, I'll hopefully finish a new page of BCB:OOT tomorrow.

For those who don't want to check the first page for the link, the first comic is here: Comics - After School Page 8 :: Shadowed Levels

You really need to work on anatomy and posturing; all your characters are in such ridiculous poses that it's almost hard to look at without flinching. For instance, that thing playing basketball should have bent arms when handling the ball like that, otherwise they look like pieces of spaghetti. The shoulders on the bosnian hoody character in the second comic are woeful in that they don't retain any kind of fixed width or shape. I think that you could benefit greatly from some tutorials in basic anatomy; there are a wide number of books that could help you, and several billion images available on the internet that you can study from. Try sketching a rough outline before you draw the actual thing, and actually pay some attention to what you are drawing; these look pretty half-assed, to be honest. I'm not even going to touch on the bizarre events of your comic, let alone your strange furry cast. There's definitely potential in your work, but you need to get some good, solid practice in first.
  • #71

He looks like a Magicka mage. That is all.
  • #72

I've been attampting to work on anatomy, as it's one of my major weak points, as I believe has been pointed out to me earlier in this thread. I've currently got 5 books on anatomy out of the library, and I'm working my way through them to try and improve.

As for the plot, I'm sort of exploring the possible uses of the characters and their interactions before I fully set down a plot. I've got a loose idea in mind, but it's yet to be solidified.

I'm working on it though.

Also, I've uploaded two more pages.

I was bored, and didn't have time to draw any pages today because I've been trying to spend more time on them, and it's like 11 at night. So I made a wallpaper with Edward Elric. Not my best work... but dfinitely not my worst.

I hadn't seen that Ed one. It looks like he's flipping the bird :D

Lol, it's from when he's going to Rezembool with Major Armstrong. He's pissed off XD

I recently delved in to a genre I'm not familiar with, that being pornographic writing.

Fair warning, this is AO.

The Writer

For those of you interested in that sort of thing, enjoy!
  • #77

Well geez Sparky, looks like you can write porn after all. That was a good story, and I should know with all the OTHER stories of this type i've read :smirk:

A few things:

"The curvaceous brunette wiggled her eyebrows at me in a very suggestive manner"
Careful, you fell into first person for a moment there.

"large, shaded window looking out on the beaches of San Jose"
I live in San Jose, and I have never been to a beach closer than Santa Cruz. Of course, we don't have much of a border on the bay itself to begin with, but I don't know of any beach that's any good anywhere around the bay.
  • #79

I haven't actually been to the shoreline of San Francisco, and my time in San Jose was... one day, I believe.

Ah well, if only those two minor details are problems, I've done better than I thought I did :) Thanks for the review.

Also, I made a new avatar, guys:

I decided to do some experimentation with coloured pencil. I learned two things.

1. Holy shit did I need to sharpen often.

2. Coloured pencils don't blur as well as regular pencils.

Here's the result. I found out the blurring thing the hard way, on the leaves.

C&C is welcome.

Hey guys. So, I was dabbling in animation today, and made two really simple animations.

The first I did: http://www.swfcabin....open/1317940748

The second: http://www.swfcabin....open/1317953921

The second came out really small for some reason :/ oh well.

Enjoy!
  • #82

I'm not really sure how to describe this piece, nor why I made it. I guess I'll just C&P from my deviantart.

Quote

I'm not sure where I'm going with this. I was originally going to take a picture of Jesus and try and do something funny with it... but I ended up making something solemn.

I just can't make fun of that face, however much I dislike what his followers have done XD He's one of my people... :/

Also, to clear something up, I've been asked if I take requests. The answer is yes. Just send a PM my way or post in here, and I'll see what I can do for you :)

Muchisimas gracias Spark. Thank you so much.

The lineart only took about 10 minutes, it was the colour that was a bitch.

By the way, for anyone who's interested, here's the avatar I made out of it.

wow, that zangoose is fantastic!
the head on that mike looks a little square though and perhaps try something different with the hill? it just kinda curves away into nothing.
very nice though!
  • #87

I was trying a new style of head with that one - I guess square heads don't work though.

Thank you ^_^ I'm especially proud of them.

Here are the next two pages of BCB:OOT, which I actually drew something like a week ago and just procrastinated until today.

  • #89

Haha, thanks.

Yeah, I was going to make something like that.

Then it looked stupid so I said "fuck it."

Now it looks like Mike running.

Also, it's funny because in the game Link never gets wet.

Why is his face funny
  • #93

It's a tad square, and the pupils are too big. Maybe it's that?
  • #94

You win the prize Jacko, have a pickle.
Its still a nice picture though Spark, nice work.
  • #95

It does, unless you look at it as the white being the eyes instead of the black.

Then you can never unsee it.
