Signatures And request for a request topic

Before anything, I tried looking for "requests" "signatures" and some other keywords before posting this.
And I thought of posting it in "Forum Rules" as it seems a quite official forum thread, but this is not actually related to rules, so...

How about having an official sticky "Forum Requests Thread"? Sticky, sticky. Official.

Now, for the real purpose of the topic:
I have seen some discussion somewhere (I think in the other forum) about not having signatures for this new forum because people would go crazy and add too many images, and sparkles and all those things.
But, if there was a way to limit the signature to just a small sentence, like they have in the gamefaqs boards, it wouldn't visually pollute this forum... And it's nice being able to write a little something of what you want, personalize your posts.

It won't actually add anything to the topics, but being controlled, signatures won't hurt either.
Me thinks.

I wouldn't mind it but you have to think of the traffic. It costs cash.

Not much. But it offends my minimalist sensibilities.

I was thinking about it, the idea of a one-sentence signature policy, heavily regulated, but I think it'd be generally disruptive. There's no reason to have a signature. What would yours say that is so important?

No.
  • #4

You can buy the right to use signatures for a paltry sum of 1,000 Euros.
  • #5

i would shove a load of clickables into my signature :D

its soo annoying when people do that
  • #6

yeah well im gonna just copy paste the same sentence at the end of every post
i cheated the system look at me

I think the term "signature" is heavily diluted as soon as it refers to computer-generated script either way. ^_^

They are kinda stupid, I mean we all know who posted what, their freakin name and avatar is beside the post. You don't need to have some silly little line at the end of every single post, it looks kinda tacky.

Oh, nothing in particular... I used to have Genis (as in my profile) as my avatar and I would have
"I command thee, in the land of the dead, to unleash thy fury of thunder! INDIGNATION!"

Or Zephyr, of End of Eternity (Ressonance of Fate, in US) and have
"This wasn't a battle. This was assisted suicide."

Things like that. Well, but Taeshi-san seems adamant about it, so, forget it.
You don't wanna anger the gods admins!

What about the "Forum Request Thread"? It would stop this kind of thread of popping up all the time.

Now, just out of curiosity, isn't there a way to make it impossible to put anything but text, and limit the number of characters on a signature? The way Mr. SuitCase say it, it looks like that's not an option.

It is possible, but the question is whether he wants to commit to it or not. It might take some time; I have never done it so I would not know. ^_^
  • #11

How much do signatures cost now?
  • #12

If there's one thing I don't like, it's signatures. Most signatures end up being very silly.

Everything I say is my signature, I just keep changing it. I never actually comment on anything.
  • #15

Hey how do you do that thing under your name? (for example, ILB has "secretly a man" under his name.)

It is nothing we can do. SuitCase does that to people if he deems it funny or necessary or something else. For instance, Goldwulf was very adamant in uploading one picture that was against the rules, and was thus vested with a title that reflected Suit's exasperation in that fact. In my case, I told everybody that I was male and as this contradicts myself, he put that as a, well, warning. While Lucas here was a victim of one of Suit's few uncontrollable instances of niceness. ^_^

oh ok. So we cant write it ourselves?

Not unless our dear administrator deems it fit. :smirk:

grr...
  • #20

Yeah that annoyed me a little bit too. I had a title in mind.
  • #21

anything "important" you can place in your profile. Has heaps of room for a twitter/website/images.

Blarg. 8-)

Is your one too mean, ILB? I keep feeling like I'm encroaching on some sort of gender identity crisis.
  • #23

@SuitCase: *heavy sigh* This forum has strange admins to be sure. Hmmm, I'm also strangely compelled to...never mind, that would piss you off.

@ILB: hey, we can't go around calling me 'Lucas' right?
I'll take that as an offense! >:(

I kid I kid.

Hey, nameless, what do you usually 'heavy sigh' for? I mean, half of them sound like they're just to increase its numbers!
(and this will probably trigger the 64th one, won't it? XD )

Oh damn, this turned into a random chat thingie.
Didn't mean for it.

Oh, sorry, Lycan. I just like calling people by their real name, but if you do not want that I will stop. ^_^

And no, Suit, it is really quite okay. I am not bothered particularly by it. ^_^
  • #26

Than why are you not calling Suitcase by his real name? (on second though I can probably guess the answer to that)

I am not calling him by his real name because unless I am mistaken, he does not like that at all. ^_^
