  • #51

How about no. That is a stupid idea good sir.
  • #52

What. make a new thread for this stuff.
  • #53

Bumping because of relevance.

So apparently communism, Hugo Chavez and BP are all more popular than the republican strangled 112th congress.

Fuck, wrong thread.

I wish for this thread to go back to slamming republicans.
lol republicans.

This is pretty much the most appropriate thread for that, Chocolatecakecles.

Usually this is the point where I try and defend the underdog here, but honestly hearing how much money he has just left over really pisses me off.

America isn't retarded, it's this guy, and his fat fucking dumb shit family who need to swim in a pool of thousands and eat solid gold meals every day while some people are starving.

There's really no good point to try and defend here. Please someone take his job.
  • #57

What really gets me is he's complaining about only earning 200,000 a year, when 25,000 a year would be such a dramatic upgrade for me, that I could give up Medicare, Medicaid, SSI, my housing voucher and foodstamps and not only be able to make ends meet, but have more money left over each month than I currently do. I can't begin to imagine what I'd do with 70,000 let alone 200,000.

Oh, hell, I almost soiled my self laughing at that. Shit, that should be an actual ad running against those weird bastards you call conservative politicians! Why is it your country can't seem to tell it like it is like that?

It would be interesting to see just how much tax revenue is lost to loopholes. I haven't seen any statistics, but you're probably right about it being a drop in the bucket.

This is untrue, actually. Were were to eliminate all tax loopholes it would generate enormous amounts of money. For example, if we made investments taxed at the same rate as all other forms of income, it would be 20% of trillions of dollars a year.

Then there are the corporations which pay lower taxes or no taxes, compared to private individuals.

Many wealthy people pay a lower tax rate than people who are middle classed.

So yeah, it would make a big difference. Of course, one could argue how many are tax "loopholes" when they are intentional.

I think it'd be funny if, after the Republican Primary, to start signing up the "winner's" office, aides and contributors for every white supremacist magazine in existence.

Know your constituency.

And this is why I'm leaving America.

Well, not really, but I can say it is.

So the Speaker of the House cut off C-Span's mic and camera when a democrat asked for a vote on the Payroll tax cut. Guess the press isn't on the top of their list when it comes to the things they approve about the first amendment.

Dead baby jokes are back in style.

"Whoa whoa whoa! Hold on, Bob! My child was not stillborn!"

Technically true. He "played with it" for two hours and then it died.

My dog does that with rabbits sometimes.

RELATED EDIT: Apparently whoever produces that show "19 Kids and Counting" is continuing with this season pretending that what's-her-face doesn't have a miscarriage at the end. Kind of makes the "And Counting..." a little creepy, huh?

Maybe amateur backyard wrestling is not an appropriate way to play with a newborn.

At any rate, here's to biology granting him the pure joy of letting him think for a moment that his goof juice had produced something that wasn't crippled from the starting line and then snatching it right the fuck back.

Es muy bueno.

Man, all politicians are outta touch, but that's crazy!

Gotta ask something, how come US poltiics is so obsessed with religion? You're nmeant to be secular right? Thing is, the UK's meant to be christian but we're pretty chill and don't really care....
  • #80

Because we were founded by Puritan faggots and convicts that no one on the better continent wanted.
  • #81

The sad part is that 90% of the people voting for these ultra rich republicans are the exact people that are getting shafted by republican policies, the lower and middle classes. I don't know how they keep getting reelected.

I suspect that the republican house of representatives has worked out that if they manage to stop all constructive legislation from passing and properly fuck over the economy, the voting public will blame obama, not them
  • #82

Problem with that is, Quaddy, that same tactic was used against Clinton before he ran for second term. It ended up doing wonders for his campaign, because he could now officially blame every problem imaginable on Congress and they couldn't come up with a good explanation for why what they did was his fault.

As for the Republicans getting reelected, they're the experts at spinning and the public in general is too stupid to see through it. About 5 or 6 years ago (maybe less, I'm not actually counting) Republican governor of Missouri Matt Blunt said I no longer had a right to get glasses and dental work done. He spun it as him making excellent cuts on Medicaid and Medicare to protect the economy. Eventually they overturned the "medicaid doesn't pay for glasses" part, but I'll still have to pay out of pocket if I need to get a cavity filled. Surprisingly enough, his cuts were directly attributable to him and his spin failed. He didn't even bother running for reelection at that point.

That actually cheered me up a good bit, Carcharocles. At least people get called on it sometimes. I wonder why dental care coverage hasn't been reinstated?
  • #84

I'm not sure, but it isn't that big of a loss since there are a couple dozen dentists in the area who cater exclusively to the super poor. In fact, I know of one who does it on pure morality; he's definitely competent to say the least. Pulling a tooth? One buck. Otherwise, 25 bucks for the visit. Oh, if politicians could think like him.

Oddly enough, dentures are still covered. So apparently Matt Blunt thought paying hundreds of dollars for a set of dentures and letting the teeth rot out of the poor's mouth was better than giving them the ability to get proper care. I decided at that point that Republican Logic is very different than Earth Logic and began voting straight democrat at the polls.

I hate Republicans. I don't see how anyone can tolerate them. They have no knowledge of how money works, and all they want to do is keep the green in their pockets while everyone else struggles.

Four hundred thousand dollars.

Please.

Please.

My family lives on two grand a month from social security - which would rapidly become $0 if the Republicans get their way - and barely has any money left to spend, and this guy is complaining about four hundred thousand dollars.

Being conservative is stupid, anyway. Progression is always healthy in human society, so when a group of people whine about gay marriage and abortion, they're stupid. Stupid faggots.

I couldn't agree more with you. Well, I wouldn't call them faggots, but they seem to act stupid. To pretty much ignore the economy's situation just because they're greedy for money puts a bad taste in my mouth. Hence why I'm more for Democrats.

Does America have any politicians who don't seem out of touch with the majority of the populace and aren't religion-spouters or do we over-seas people just not here about them?

Your political system, parties and candidates are utterly confusing.

Maybe on the local level, and possibly a few at state, but any higher then that and they are all bat-fuck crazy and out of touch with any semblance of the human populace.

Does your country have any?

As for the US, we have Ron Wyden, the senator from my state. He's a bro.

Ron Paul is the one and only Republican I would want in office. He's one of the nicest politician in existence, which is why he'll never win.

Are you kidding? A libertarian? What is this, 1855? Yes, let every state run wild with their own laws and have the government as small as a pea. Totally the UNITED States of America.

It is less that the government of the USA is out of touch, and more that they have a very sophisticated media system. ^_^

But you may remember that the United States currently has a president? Furthermore, that there are people in the Republican race barring Rick Santorum.

Tut, tut, so much to argue, so little time... :smirk:
  • #95

You know, this isn't the first time the idea that Rick is racist has come up following something he said in public.

Again, he tried to pass it off as not saying "black," but by saying "bleugh." Doesn't really pass in this case.

And in case you aren't aware, there are more white people on welfare than black people, so it's not really excusable to begin with.

Arizona bill declares women pregnant two weeks before conception

AMERICA, FUCK YEAH

Conservatives are just the worst breed of people.
  • #99

Arizona huh? I'm not surprised. Don't expect this law to remain in effect for long, though, since any idiot with half a brain can see the logical and legal issues with it.
