Prerelease 3 is out.
  • #12

Minecraft 1.8 is released, then the pre-release for 1.9 is released. Then we get information on 1.10. All within 2 weeks..........dammit Notch.

Every time Notch tells us the next update will be the biggest one yet, you can already be fairly certain that the next one will be bigger.
1.9 looks exceptional. :O

Minecraft just isn't Minecraft anymore...
  • #20

Its the enchantments/potions thing thats making me feel that Minecraft is going to start to lose touch with its origins
Its drifting into an RPG
  • #21

You can always play creative mode you know.
  • #22

I play survival, but I basically play it as if it were back to its early releases
Hell Ive never even made a redstone current of any kind and it took me like a year to get to the Nether
Im more partial to mining, building and fighting enemies
  • #23

I am too. I kinda dislike having a hunger bar now, but I like having the options. Hell, I'm incompetent as shit with redstone but I've made some pretty cool stuff with it and pistons :D
  • #24

I'm actually having a lot of fun with some mods. Mainly LevelUp, Optifine, Zombie Dismemberment, Minimap, RecipeBook, and TwilightForest. I like playing how its meant to be played.
  • #25

i haven't played with mods since 1.7.1
but im thinking of getting the yogbox again

considering where those videos rick has there came from, i'm sure he's seen this as well
  • #26

I kinda like the hunger bar, or at least the way it affects healing.
The critical hits kinda made me overpowered though, 2 hits to kill a creeper with a stone sword, 1 if it's iron I think.
The potions thing does strike me as really off for minecraft, but when it does come out I don't HAVE to use it, so i'm completely fine with it being added in.
I also do a lot of stuff with redstone, love the stuff, do all sorts of crazy stuff with it, like replicating Hanslemurson's RAM in minecraft or making a functional seven-segment display.

I'm still looking forward to 1.9 officially coming out, but I haven't seen anything too amazing to make me go through the process of messing with my .jar file to get a pre-release version of it.

Really though, as long as there are still mods for minecraft that allow me to drastically change the game whenever I feel like it like buildcraft, the Yogbox, or even the Aether then I think I will always have fun with minecraft. The vanilla game is great, but every once in awhile I just need a change to the old mine and build.

  • Ask me what I think about Snooths!
Diamond sword doesn't kill a creeper in one hit even with crit so I doubt iron does. Also apparently 1.9 won't be released as such, but will rather be released as simply "Minecraft" and no longer "Minecraft beta"

How? I thought Notch was making beta 10.0

Combat always seemed too easy. The Simons sword always gets 2 hit kills, and critical hits sometimes make an instant kill.
  • #29

No. Minecraft will be out of beta when it is released at Minecon. Minecraft 1.0.

Combat needs to be changed, thats for sure. Part of that is how high damage you deal, part of that is the complete retardedness of the AI. Notch plans on doing hitzones though; like, hitting someone in a specific bodypart might deal more/less damage. Lets hope it makes combat better. I think he needs to increase the HP of everything to be honest, though.

I wish zombies had a hitting animation, and blocking. And the ability to act tactical when in groups. I can only imagine getting swarmed from all angles.

I don't get the new friendly hostile mob thing...

Hmmmm, while I know many people won't like the addition of the Ender realm and dragons and such I don't think i'll start a crying about it until I get a good chance to try it out myself in the official release.
  • #35

Notch trolls you with end credits.

1.0RC2 is up. Adds a lot of sounds, bugfixes, etc. Nothing big.

Most of the new sounds suck. Endermen sounds are not that great; I love the staring sound, think the teleport sounds are ok, but the idle/damage/killed sounds are terrible. It makes them "cute".
  • #37

It has been released, or at least I had to download the update for it.
Nothings been added in that I can't ignore if I don't want to mess with it.
Endermen sounds are kinda weird now, and the new creeper explosion sound all that great, but otherwise i'm fine with everything that's been added in.

Still can't find a goddamned snowy biome though.

Yogscast and all supporters (Read: All of internet) claim it was Notch who was being a dickhead
  • #42

Uhh, I don't know. If what I've read is true, the Yogscast... cast, were really being assholes through the convention, Notch has however apologized and said he was a dick and that he was really stressed.

I must say, I will not tolerate any Fucks being given at such a professional place. shame on you yogscast, shame on you.
now, i'm off to play a game where there is certainly no cussing, or maybe I'll watch some TV because we all know there is no cussing on the television.
Actually, I'll just go outside, i mean, its not like people don't curse in the real world.

The real world is just completely unprofessional, Notch. how about you just stay in your minecraft :nope:

Relevant. Maybe.

It was confirmed by some people as well.

So yeah.
  • #45

Notch apologized I think he was in the wrong here.
  • #46

I think he apologized out of courtesy. There are many people that said that it's the Yogcast people that were being assholes.

Then again, maybe he was the prick, I wasn't there :3
  • #47

I heard that Notch said he was just really tired and frustrated. So he made all of that up. Either way, I just want to play Minecraft...
  • #48

No, he didn't make any of it up. It was just some humor that he didn't catch on to as well as him being all stressed out and stuff.
