Is Roseville in Mexico?

I saw banner ad for BCB with Mike looking at a personal ad Lucy had placed. It's a little hard to read her phone number, since only about the top third is visible, but it appears to say 722-555-0487. 722 is an area code that covers various places I've never heard of in Mexico; does it also cover a secret town of anthropomorphic animals? Alternatively, perhaps Roseville is a secret town of spammers? Other than the Mexican area code, Google told me about various people who complain about getting spam calls from numbers with a 722 area code, but if they try to call back to figure out where the call is coming from, they find that the number does not exist.

Roseville is refuted to be in California. I suspect the phone number is either made up from scratch and that this is a coincidence; or, perhaps, Taeshi knew about the mysterious unknown 722 area code location and decided that yes, it would be a secret and hidden town full of walking, talking animals. Incidentally, the city of Maraschino, where Mike saw Sandy on the broadcast, is in Croatia, and the town where Sandy moved, the name of which escapes me, does not exist at all.

Roseville was intended to have a New Jersey-esque school system, based on my own because I didn't know any other school system, also Marashino represents New York, it's not official though! There really isn't a set location.

Is Marashino the city where Alejandro attacked them? Or is that some other magical place, like an analogue of Newark?

Maraschino is where Mike thought he saw Sandy on TV, and where the whole of that chapter is set. The city where they are attacked is simply called "Confrontation City", as the chapter is inderterminate as to where it actually is.

Marashino is not where Alejandro attacked them.

It is not called Confrontation City jesus christ maybe in fan-canon but christ what do you take me for ._.

I have heard you reference it as "Confrontation City", so I assumed that that was the canon name for it. Forgive me if I am incorrect, and understand that I was merely following your lead.

Haha, no. Someone called it Confrontation City in one topic, and I responded with laughter and amusement. It was an acknowledgement of the name, and me finding it funny, but I was not making it canon. What do you take me for :(

Oh. Well, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

It's still a more sensible name for the city than "Cinfucktion", which I have seen it called since that's what this sign says. I occasionally call it "Cinder", but not very often since that is probably just the name of the street.

The short answer to your question Bord Lord is yes, it is in Mexico. Despite what even Taeshi tells you, her latino heart always beats in the sands of the Chihuahua desert.

Confrontation City is obviously Camden.

722 is the area code for Toluca, in the state of México. Area codes in Chihuahua start with 6.

Confrontation City was just a name I made up, since obviously I don't know the real name of the city where "Confrontation" occurred.

I've been wondering whether the official spelling is 'Maraschino' or 'Marashino'. The first one is correct in Italian (and English), but I've seen Taeshi spell it both ways, even in the comic.

Or...you could just realize that the characters speak English.

Characters speak English in alien movies.

The spelling of Maraschino is consistent in "Hot Pursuit", however on this page it is spelled 'Marashino'. Don't know if that spelling pops up elsewhere in the comic, though you do tend to spell it that way in forum posts and such. It's probably something you could fix if you ever print a second edition of the book.

Another thing to fix would be the spelling of 'coitus' on this page. It's always kinda bugged me, especially since I think it's one of Blur's better lines.

I thought that coitus thing was fixed.

Because we have never ever ever read a book that has had any misspelled words in it whatsoever.

To elaborate, take any book written by Steven King. I'm sure after reading it for 5 minutes, you'll wonder if he even took English in High School.

Bad example. He's an English Professor, and hasn't written anything good since the mid-90's at latest.

To be fair, that's probably the correct spelling in Ebonics.
