So I've had a few Ideas Both of witch are games
So a few ideas for forum games have been bouncing around in my head recently, and I figured 'What the heck, I'll ask the forum peeps in a poll.' so here ya go. A new MMG in ancient rome, and a forum game show to show off your mental ability.

I'm not sure about the Cash Cab thing, too many rules, but a random trivia question thread might be fun.

Well ILB, its a game show that takes place in a taxi in New York city. Passengers enter the taxi and are quizzed on the way to their destination. They earn money as they answer corectlly, and get a strike if the answer is wrong. Three strikes and you lose all your money and get kicked out on the curb.

So how would that be adapted to this forum? ^_^
- #12
- 07 December 2010 - 07:45 PM
well I (Or whoever is hosting) would ask a passenger (Witch there can be more than one of) a question, and they can give an answer. You know how the right and wrong thing works, however about said money... well I had a system in mind but its not really needed. As for # of qustions, I could pick a random # or have the passengers pick depending on what kind of challenge you want.

Hmm... Sounds interesting, but still unsure.

Well I diden't think it was going to have universal support.
But what makes you unsure?
But what makes you unsure?

Well, I am unsure of how well it would transfer to an online format.
Oh, and I just realised that voted a very enthusiastic "yes" for another MMG. I had no idea you had it in you, . ^_^ Boo to Carcharocles.

I don't under stand Why you still don't get the quiz game and how It'll transfer over, All I'll be doing is typing up the qustion and getting the answer from the players, thats it. well theres going to be a few other rules but I won't explain them here unless you think that will help clarify things.
About the mmg, well yeah I under stand why you might be suprised to know that I wanted to play another one. I registerd to play in the last one, but I diden't want to totally eff some ones personality up, so I never played, but that dident stop me from watching you guys play it. Not to menction that the guy who played me made me a total bad ass. But yeah, I want to start a new one in rome where we play our selvs or a made up Charecter.

The tradition for our murder mystery games is to make characters based on the BCB cast (including fan characters, if we are so inclined). The first one had - for instance - Dr. Mike Nicopolis and Lady Sandra of the Quick Waves (although in sequence, it was an anomaly because the leading character was an OC), while Commie's Lackadaisy-inspired Chicago MMG had all the characters genderbended, such as Paula, Duke and Alexa. Still, the main idea has always been to use the characters from Taeshi's universe. If you would want to change that, then that is fine; I just thought I should mention this. ^_^
I would certainly want to play another one, of course. There is a problem with these new forums, however - we cannot change our names, and as such we need to specify our character at the bottom of every single post.
Regarding the quiz game, I wonder why you formulated it so close up to the Cash Cab when you could just have called it a quiz game.

If there is going to be a MMG, make it with the forum as the cast, doing the voices of our selves.

- 08 December 2010 - 04:56 PM
No, not ourselves. That would just be silly; it is a roleplaying game, after all. ^_^

- 08 December 2010 - 05:18 PM
No the people you talk to are us.
- #22
- 08 December 2010 - 06:19 PM
But that is the whole point. If we should roleplay, then we ought to take on roles rather than playing ourselves. No actor can possibly do his work by portraying himself or herself. ^_^
Also, if I may pose a question to those who voted: How many of you know what the BCB MMGs are? I am not looking to argue with you or anything, just curious.

Well I modeled it after the cash cab game because it's uniuqe and I wanted to take aspects of the show and put them into my game.
As for the MMG, I want to replicate the last one with new circumstances. I suppose that we can do a tradional version with BCB cast. I like that idea. However, I also like the idea of being able to play as an OC that reflects who we are. That was sort of my original idea . I was thinking of again more like the last one where we were human. But, ILB, I agree with you. An actor isint acting if he's playing him self.

Like its a city and the citizens are us and you play as someone else.
- #27
- 10 December 2010 - 08:58 AM
Oh, that is right: Hen, if you do run an MMG, it is much better to have the characters precreated. You need to write the murder plot beforehand (something I have learned through experience ^_^), and then it makes far more sense to have the characters written along with it. That would be my advice.
Although, that really makes the whole forumite idea much harder... In that case, you would have to ask for permission to use people as characters.

It would make it better is we used our own voices, for us so there are no mistakes.

First off, how do you know the players won't cheat. 2 minutes is definitely enough time to type something on google. Secondly what are we playing for? Points, Monopoly money? Will it be a contest of sorts?

Alright every one, here are the rules for the quiz game.
There will be one host(mostly me but others can host a game if they want to.)
I will need at least a weeks grace period to get good qustions, depending on how long you want the game to be.
If someone elce is hosting a game they will be finding the qustions themselves.
More than one player per game is allowed.
Players have two minuets to answer qustions when they post a "ready" within one minuet of my posting the qustion.
If players answer incorectly, fail to post "ready" after the qustion is asked, or don't answer witin two minuets of the "ready" post, the qustion is marked as wrong and the players get one strike.
Olny two qustions can be answered incorectly , if a third is wrong the game is over.
Each qustion is worth 50 "interwebs" money can not be lost unless you lose, then you lose all your interwebs. This is essentially how you porve that you did better than someone elce did.
The ocasional "red light challenge" can occor at ramdom by roll of a die. 1-4 no challenge 5-6 red light challenge. RLC's are worth 100 interwebs each but no strikes can be earned because of them. The RLCs consist of one multiple answer qustion that you have three minuets to answer.
In the event of not knowing the answer to a qustion, two things can be done. One, use a "street shoutout" allwoing you 5 minuets of reaserch time to figure out the answer. Two, you can use a "mobile shoutout" allowing you 7 minuets of reaserch time. During the allotted time, you can try to find the answer any way you can. Mobile and street shoutouts can olny be used once each, so use them wisely.
