More Contraceptive Fun Facts: Roughly 2600 years ago, the Greek city of Cyrene's economy was based almost exclusively around the rare silphium plant, a type of fennel that only grew on the northern tip of Africa. The herb was praised for it's flavor in food, the perfumes from it's yellow blossoms, and the resin in the stems for medicinal purposes. However, it was most sought after for it's seeds, which were both an aphrodisiac and a potent birth control method. The herb was even depicted on their coins, and the seeds were worth their weight in silver. It wasn't a folk remedy, doctors and scholars of the time praised the usefulness of the silphium plant, and discovered it could even be used for first trimester abortions. Unfortunately, the herb was very finicky and try as they might they couldn't get it to sprout anywhere but the small swath of land it was discovered in. Over the next 600 years the plant dwindled away, and the very last known stalk of it was cut and given to Emperor Nero as a 'curiosity'.
Bonus Fun Fact: This coin depicts a seed from the silphium. Notice anything?

That's right, the seeds were 'heart' shaped. It is thought by many historians that this ancient icon of unfettered lovemaking is the origin of today’s ubiquitous “I love you” heart symbol.
Think about that next Valentine's Day. Suddenly it all makes sense.

Contraceptive Fun Fact: As late as the 1960's, Western women would use Lysol in douches as a form of contraceptive and for hygienic reasons. I don't think I need to tell you that's not a good thing to do to a vagoo. The lemon pine scent is a nice side effect though.
Here, I cite sources when they're funny and somewhat offensive:

At the time a company could never openly market contraceptives, so they danced around the issue giving the wink wink nudge nudge and used vague language. It wasn't until later that it was discovered that, surprise surprise, there were no real studies involved and the 'scientists' Lysol claimed to employ did not exist. When women found out the dangers of the Lysol douche, I assume they all said 'well, gotta use it up somehow...' and mopped shit up with it.

I'm bisexual.
Vulvas are also nasty.
I have had painful and very ample periods since 11, I wasn't put on the pill until 16 as my doctor deemed my periods to be abnormal, what with losing a lot of blood and fainting spells and pain that made me cry for a week or two at a time.
I happen to have knowledge of the pill, but should I shut up because I'm not taking penis up the vagina as of right now?

Although: are you still taking the pill, solely for period-related reasons? I can imagine a hetero\bisexual woman lapsing on taking the pill if not in a relationship and not looking, or if in a monogamous relationship with a person who cannot impregnate anyone. Which would seem to apply here.

For birth control I find it an affordable (depending on the brand) and easy option, as you can choose when to stop without any hassle if you want to begin trying for a baby, for example. It's also fairly reliable if you're good with taking it somewhat on time. The only thing I worry about as such a long term user is the heightened breast cancer risk.

YES
My uterus hurt for like almost 2 years. The doctor said it was because Mirana is meant for women who have had children so their uterus is 'stretchy' and I have never had kids. It hurt constantly for 4 months then eased up to only hurting when I lift heavy things. Now I have no pain and no periods. It be coo.
Don't let my story scare you though, because I've talked to plenty of girls younger than me who got it and they had no pain (lucky).

Hey, I always found it odd that you could buy condoms out of a dispenser in most gas station bathrooms. I mean honestly, who would trust a gas station condom?

man, I'm sorry to hear that. though I doubt it has anything to do with being short/petite, I'm pretty sure all uteruses are the same size (I'm guessing, based on pure ignorance). Was the person who inserted it experienced or credible? The nurse the GF and I happen to be seeing about the GF's IUD is in the top 3 of Saskatchewan for inserting IUDs and dealing with vaginas, so I'm fairly confident in her.

we get them rationed through our health center. It's kinda funny, we can get 12 every other week, so if both partners get them that's enough for sex twice a day keeping the sabath holy
It's really the only thing we trust our health center for. You never want to go there for actual medical help, we've all heard some pretty bad horror stories.

I wish I could contribute, but I don't know much about birth control. the closest thing I've had to a sexual experience is helping a guy on one of my steam group's tf2 server learn to masturbate left-handed because he broke his right arm.

Nothing wrong with being a virgin, especially at 15, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I mean hell, I was 19 before I lost mine, and I still kinda wish I had waited. You only have a first lover once, treat it like a tattoo. Make sure it's something you won't regret 5 years down the road.
