He doesn't need a new Mic, he needs to learn how to remove background noise.It's quite easy with Audacity.

actually, we tried that before...it always sounds all distorted.

Where am I in this?
At first I had noticed that BonBon wasn't in the opening scenes, but now that he mentions it, he isn't in the cast listing at the end either.

yeah, i had to re-watch it to spot it. I'M SO SORRY I FORGOT TO DRAW YOU, OR PUT YOU IN BONBON! i thought i did :unsure:

well sure, we can never have too much help...not until we start getting in each other's way that is.

what do you want to do?

I don't want to be taking any emphasis away from your own animation Amazil, but I don't really know where else to post this. Up until now I thought that Amazil and Darkspeeds were the only ones who have made a half decent audio comic, I stumbled upon a 3rd contender today! The creators have slightly annoying voices and they trip up once or twice, and I am not sure exactly how much effort has gone into this, but it isn't all that bad of an attempt, has anyone else seen this before? Has this guy ever actually shared this here?

Cool discovery, Matty Batty. Only problem with it is that yes, the voices are a little irritating, plus there's absolutely no sound effects whatsoever. Not even stock ones.

It's surprising that something like that has gone completely unnoticed up until now. The video has apparently been up since late June. :O

Whoops, replied instead of edited... If you can go ahead and ignore this post, that would be great.

Hmm what a good find. I'm surprised I never...actually no I'm not that surprised that I never saw it, I don't really look for that kind of stuff anymore. What surprises me is how it's girls doing it while me and dark speeds are guys. I'm not sexist but it's just something I noticed. I'm sad there's no sound effects ( I mean even in the original I tried to make my own sound effects)

I was thinking if you needed another voice since I think you had to play both Paulo and Mike. I dont know just wondering since the person who was supposed pplay Mike wount show up until December. Oh ... wait its November . Neeevermind.

As previously mentioned i can try to speed up my speach, i was concentrating on being clear.
thank you for the feedback, i want to improve so we can make this a great project!

First off, I think the concept is pretty great. An audio comic would make it even more interesting, giving readers not only the ability to visualize it themselves, but also see a pretty audio interpretation as well. So concept wise, I think the project is a success.

However, like almost everyone else stated, there are quite a few flaws.

The voicing for the most part is entirely flat. If the people you chose can't widen their vocal range to convey more emotion, then you're better off picking new people. If the voices aren't interesting, people will not want to listen, thus making it more of a failure then a success. Also, mic quality is key. Listeners get irritated quick when having to listen to voices they can either hardly hear or have to turn it down to avoid the bad quality. If you can't afford a good mic, any USB mic should do the trick, like the ones used for the Wii for Guitar Hero. Just plug it into a USB slot and make sure on the recording program to select the microphone as input. If you don't want to hold it, you can easily make a stand out of a coat hanger. Also a screen over it will help with 'P' sounds and such, so you don't create that loud fuzzy noise. (I'm not exactly sure how to describe it, but I hope you understand what I'm talking about.) There are plenty of ways to make a screen, but making a loop shape with a coat hanger and pulling tights over it sure does help. (I've learned from experience.) Just tape those down in place and you're pretty much good to go.

Off the voicing part, the introduction is really iffy, and Lack was right about the music coming in at the beginning. Music, then radio announcement, and if you still want the announcer talking just fade it a bit to the background when Yashy talks. Also the sound effects could use some work, even a subtle background music when Lucy is leaving her house.

Mostly just work on those voices- they're the key to the audio comic and you must nail those down before anything else. I wouldn't worry about accents- BCB doesn't focus too much with location, so don't worry about it. I'm sure with the right voices and a bit better editing you could create a great audio comic.

BBR, thanks for your critic, it's great and accurate. Latelly I have been busy with other projects (mainly finishing the soundtrack for a new videogame). Bus as soon as I am a little ready I have to talk with all the team about recording issues.

I take note on the music and sound effects you mention.

Wow, really? You take part in doing stuff like that on video games? That's really cool. :D

Are you allowed to tell us what game it is?
  • #62

It's called Bionite: Origins. The spiritual successor of Battlezone series.

BIONITE: Origins™ Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad game - Mod DB

Actually, if you can vote for us, it would be great :D

It wasn't all that bad, I did find some faults, mostly with the acting and audio of the characters. The main thing I hated was the voice for Yashy, it was to guy like. This was good don't get me wrong but it needs some work. Most of the voice matched up great but there could be some changes.

For me, I thought that the voices would have been in a line up like this.

Lucy >:( = Whinery Rockbell from Fullmetal or Misty from pokemon the 4kids version.
Mike :unsure: = Aang from Avatar; the show not that awful movie.
Paulo 8-) = Ed from Fullmetal
Daisy ;_; = Asoka from Negima
Tess = Katara from Avatar
August = Zuko
David = Naruto
Yashy = work in progress

I know that getting the actors would never happen, but the idea I still like. And so you know, I'm on team LxM.
  • #64

wow crap i guess i turned my back on this for to long.... its pretty damn good so far.

the one thing i do question is the smoothness of "lucy saying you slapped me on the ass" it almost sounds like a computer saying it, as well as some other lines.

david seems to be a little off as well.

just how far have you guys gotten now
  • #65

Can you still audition for a part like abbey's voice or Augustus?
  • #66

Personally, actually im under a lot of work for other, more important, things in my life. It still will be a lot of time before we reach the 1st chapters for abbey's and augustus.

I'm really thinking that someone else, if willing, could help me with the audio and video editing now htat I cannot dedicate all my time to this project.
  • #67

yeah tell me about it, Augustus doesnt come in till like chapter 31 or something so i got a long time to wait
  • #68

just asking.

This is a pretty sweet concept. I'm new to this so I don't know the current status, but if there's anything I could contribute, count me in! :D

I know you probably get this a lot already, but emotion has to really be a major factor here, especially in a series such as BCB. Since the drawings are already provided there is no need for much body language or facial expressions, but that doesn't mean that you (voice actors) shouldn't be afraid to get up and make silly gestures or faces while playing your parts. The important thing about acting, whether voice or onstage, is to not be afraid to let yourself become the character. When people watch/ listen to this they're not going to see you as the person you are, they're going to see you as Lucy, Mike, Paulo or any other character you may be. And as the voice it's your job to make that character come to life.

Sorry about my huge tangent :)

Overall, I love the idea and daisy was the one that shone out to me the most :) I got a good laugh out of David's voice as well XD

Great work and I hope to see more :)

I agree with you there. When I do voice acting, the immersion is too much fun. Honestly, I'm currently working with another VA group and one of the problems is the emotion...along with leaving members. Honestly, voice acting is great in the fact it's your own time, and you do it in the comfort of your own home. If you want something to do, I suggest helping volgrand with video editting (because as far as I know, that's the only thing that's holding us back.
  • #71

Yes, actually I don't have the time, nor the mood, to spend hours in that. So if any video and soudn editor wants to help I will gladly give him the work I have already done for chapter 2.
