I think you've got the general idea, but you need to work hard on poses. If Mike really were doing that gesture, it would insinuate that his arms were about eight inches long, and tapered to a weird point on his elbows. Try studying poses and the human figure before drawing out a fully-fleshed drawing; it will really help in the long run. If necessary, just sit and draw out skeleton models of the human body in different positions to get the feel of how it sits in different ways. I know it sounds dull, but it will really help. You should also draw out a model of what you're going to draw before you draw it, including a face plan, rubbing out the underlying layers once you have drawn on details. Your shading, too, is quite rough, but there're tons of tutorials to help you with that. If you feel you're not very good with it, then simply don't do it; lineart looks fine if you do it right.
As some further off-topic guidance, I would say sharpen your pencil. The lines are really wide and quite sketchy; it helps to define if you're drawing with a good, sharp 2B pencil. For extra definition, outline drawings with a black fineliner. I think you have promise, but it needs work. For an idea on how you can improve simply through practice and applied advice, take a look at AKACatgirl's art thread, and compare her first uploaded drawings with her current ones. There's a noticeable difference.

Sammy: Hmm :) thanks for the recommendations... Yes, i was practicing lately with shadings, because i saw my artwork and said "Omg they look like a kid's work" then i saw many of you using shadings in simple pictures and looked awesome. So maybe, i need some on-line help by now, i accept it ^^ .
Mikies aren't my best works D: he looks simple but at the same time so difficult...
But then, i did my best onto this minis XD

I like SO much fully-animalized doodles... maybe i will specialize in animals only :D

I like your style, although the stroke direction could use a bit of variety.
  • #4

@ReyOzymandias: What do you mean by variety? Then, will try using other curls and styles I know if they fit better.

...And then, I was practicing skeletons, I hope this improves my art...

...'cuz I think something is wrong D:
but then, to be the best, better is to begin as the worse n.n

PD: behind Lucy there ninja'd an old sketch for a contest XD which no one won because the school didn't want to give anyone the prize :(

I meant for shading, sorry. It's just that all the colouring in strokes went in the same direction, and I think you could probably give it more texture with variations in shading.

But that's just me. I'm a terrible artist, so I don't really know what I'm talking about, I just know what I've seen other people do.
  • #6

That's far better. However, the template will vary from character to character; what you have there is a male skeleton, which means that poor Lucy is rather unshapely, because you've improvised. The skeleton is defined by the character you wish to draw, so take note of how the female chest and hips flow in comparison to the male body, and make adjustments based on that. Draw the skeleton underneath the drawing, and then draw over the top, rather than just copying from a diagram; if necessary, sketch it two, three, ten times bigger to give yourself all the space you need. I will say also that you shouldn't try for too much detail before you've drawn a basic outline; things like Mike's scarf and their eyes are too much fine detail on what is a rather basic drawing. Get to know the very first steps before you try anything fancy. Also, sharpen your pencil. The lines are waay too blurry for us to be able to make anything out clearly.
  • #7

Ehh I sharpened my pencil ._. maybe it is because I put my scanner sensibility at 200 px
well, I get home and post some other things :D
  • #8

Are you using a 6B?
Because if you are, I'd recommend you get a 2B, or at least a 4B. Or maybe apply less pressure.
  • #9

Hmm will try less pressure at pencil and a fine fine pen next time 8-D

OMG the landscape  If you don't notice, at the left (your left/her right) shoulder there's the Save and Rescue principal scene. I thought 'Sandy never appears in all that saga, so what if she was around there in one of her photo shoots and Mike had no idea?'...

That's so much better. Now, try doing the skeleton lightly in pencil and then rubbing it out when you've drawn the fine details.

Eee~ 8-D thanks Sammy

The two at the middle are maaiii cats, the one at the right end is one of my friend's cat and the guy there is a friend of mine (FRIEND, 'cuz I have boyfriend >:( )
Aand... Jasmine might wait :(
No time to explain. But enjoy ;)
  • #14

Man, it's like you've suddenly matured artistically by about five years. Keep practicing that, but make sure you watch out for your proportions still; the character one from the left has a bust that would injure her back if not dealt with. The chest on a female figure should be as wide as the hips and not too curved in between; experiment with the two, but don't go overboard.
  • #15

Update again! with catty Jasmine :O

Justr a tip: Whenever you make hips, from skeletons, try to vary the width for boys and girls. Make the hips really big for girls and they'll look more feminine. :-*

Shojo-Sandy's pretty good, just try to work on not giving her man-shoulders. :D Also, when you're fleshing your skeletons, even for guys you should give a slight curve between the torso and hip framework. It'll make your art less flat. When I get my tablet back I'll show you what I mean. ^^

Anyways, you've got potential so keep drawing and don't get discouraged! 8-D
  • #20

In perspective, the same rules appy as they do in normal drawing; the hips curve inward towards the chest, the head is roughly the same width as the hips on a female if you're not being too accurate, the legs together are the same width as the torso, the arms together are the width of one leg. Don't slip into bad habits by trying to draw it as you think it looks- draw a skeleton, trace around it, add detail, and repeat from start if it doesn't work. With perspective drawing, however, the very best practice is to simply keep doing sketches until you think you have the hang of it. The above picture is a start, but the limbs are fairly disproportionately sized and it looks a bit scruffy around the edges.
With hands, you will notice that the thumbv curves down into a sort of shallow bowl shape; you will notice this if you dip your hand in paint and then lay it flat on a surface, although I don't recommend you try this on anything valuable. Study your hand carefully and then draw it out a few times to get a general impression.
RC's tips are good, but the hips should not be any wider than the shoulders and the dip should really not be too wide, or the character will look anorexic. Keep practicing, though, you're doing great.
  • #21

Hya, I know about the bowl thing on the hand... the thing is, I drew this so late at night my mom punch me out from the laptop :nope: I just had time to upload it...
well, when I get home I'll correct it and...
upload some BOLDY sketches practicing perspective 8-D
also, I'll explain my comic plans later :smirk: by now, who of you want to make your fursonas (cats, dogs, wolfs or any half-human creature) appear on an experimental BCB fans world? 8-D
  • #22

I would recommend that you don't make it anything to do with BCB; that kind of thing is looked down upon here, and fancharacters are generally a ticket to alienation and hatred.
  • #23

As I promised: BOLD pencil sketches (my scanner accentuates lines, I don't know why  )
WARNING: This first spoiler has a laaaaaaaarge and awful pencil sketch of some nude furry :O but, because we are all nude-BCB-character readers, this is a waste of words XD V

@Sammy:  I just thought the idea was to make a comic far away from BCB, maybe I didn't explain well when writing :( My future idea for a comic is to move all people who have a fursona (not so related to BCB and much less, fancharacter, like mine, which was born to represent my childish personality, differing to my serious and calculator other one) to a single world, it is, to make like a continued request thread and to practice my drawings with a fun motive :D .

Ok, then I'll begin the comic pages without any BCB, fancharacter or anyone except my fursona so you have an idea of what I'm trying to do :smirk: .

Great work! I really love your expressions and the emotions your drawings. :3
  • #36

Loads of people promote their stuff on here, so don't worry about being banned.
When did you start this comic? It's pretty nice. One thing I might say is how big your heads are. If they really were that big, I daresay your characters would have serious neck injuries quite quickly. Try and proportion the heads like you did on the skeletons; no bigger than the shoulders. They should be half as wide again as the neck, and about three times as tall. Try not to draw the eyes too big, because it offsets the rest of the face. I really like the last one, though; you've really got creases bang on, which is something I've never been able to do.
  • #37

Okaay, resizing heads in futuree~ :smirk: and thanks, Ahsaan and Sammy!
I'm trying coloring in the next comic page, so I'll be slowing the posting a bit until I get satisfied :nope:
