VIDEO GAMES I know you play them, don't lie to me!

3-2 is long until you open the boss, then the length is cut in half. Then the boss murders your face because there are two of it.

Oh god, Maneater. I've never been so frustrated towards a game until I fought him. It's even worse because the stage is so small, narrow AND you can fall. That's just unfair in every way possible.

And 4-2 is soul heaven. Absolutely love the place. Each reaper kill will net you 20k+ and they die with only 2-4 shots with a bow with a decent DEX build. Old Hero is one of the reasons I don't play the game online. The only boss I've played co-op in was Allant.

Also this piece of shit flash game makes me want to rip my fingernails out.

The slow way is the only good way to beat Maneater(s). Stay by the flame in the middle and you should be fine when it comes to being knocked off.

I prefer 4-3 for soul farming. Plus, some weapons are ineffective against reapers if I remember correctly. Then there is the spirit things it summons. Reaper number 3, go to hell, spawning your minions in such a tight corridor. This is why I bring a party, even if I can solo, the reapers and minions won't let me.

I defeated (the first) Maneater the cheap way, which was bow him down before going through the fog. The second one was done the slow way. Either way, he's still a pain in the ass.

As for reaper 3, he's cake compared to reaper 2 because of the laser minion set right on the stairs. Then again, they're all cake compared to when I decided to farm for Pure Bladestone. Set my WT to PB and just kept on killing the BP Black Skeleton. Scary bastard that one. Funny thing is though, I got my Pure Bladestone not from a BP Black Skeleton, but from a normal one.

What is the hardest game you've ever played?

Without a doubt, Burnout 3: Takedown. I consider myself a pretty good when it comes to racer but I can't remember how many times I've replayed the last Gran Prix to get the world postcard. Every retry had me struggling to take 5th (out of 6) and when I did get 1st, the AI would shoot past me in the closing stages. It was incredibly annoying and frustrating.

As for Platinum trophies, I'd give that to Wipeout HD with Mirror's Edge a close second.

*runs past all of the minions on the stairs by baiting them into a melee attack, then knocks the reaper into the hole behind him*

Oh... Burnout 3: Takedown, how you were fun... THEN YOU PISSED ME OFF! Stupid World Prix.

It's mildly annoying that you need to go to Old Hero's place to get his drop though. This is why I snipe him.

@Topic
For the 9 months I've had FFXIII, I only just played it now. Pretty good. First few hours are incredibly boring though. Gets much more interesting once you can Paradigm Shift and actually know what to do with Paradigm Shift. It was only a few hours ago that I learned how to use each role effectively and that just escalated my enjoyment of the game by a lot. Off to platinum! 8-)

Grew up with the PlayStation, and I've got all three consoles in the series- PSX, PS2, and PS3. I love them all dearly <3 I was never really a fan of the original Xbox or the 360, mainly because neither of them have enough good exclusives to entice me into buying; most of the great games 360 owners love playing are cross-console titles :P Plus, in my opinion, the few notable exclusives on 360 (Halo, Gears of War, maybe Fable?) don't really stack up to the PS3 exclusives (Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 1, 2, and 3, Killzone 2 and 3, God of War III, MotorStorm, Heavy Rain, inFamous + inFamous 2, LittleBigPlanet + LBP2, etc), so I don't see any reason to switch. Not to mention the fact that I don't want to pay for online service!

Favorite games in general would probably have to be the Metal Gear series (hence my username), Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, Battlefield, BioShock, Kingdom Hearts, and indie games on PC- stuff along the lines of Lugaru/Overgrowth by Wolfire, Cortex Command by Data Realms, Penumbra by Frictional Games, Minecraft by Notch, and so on.

Super metroid, is just awesome, I mean the controls arn't that good, kind of clunky
and slow, but the game was awesome.
  • #122

Silent Hill 2 - awesome, but controls clunky. Combat ok, but its not the point. The thing is it's supposed to be scary, and it does its job a little too well. Expect dark rooms lit by flashlight, unexplained noises, unable to see your enemies, but able to detect them through static, with perfect music and occasional "Oh my god, what is he doing with that creature?" moments. My favorite game ever made.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun. This game is held close to my heart. Not only is it amazing, the visuals were blow me away doing its time, and its story's pretty good.

Silent Hill 3 - not as good as 2, but still one of the best in the genre. Graphics are amazing if you use a Racer S tweak to make it a widescreen resolution.

Resident Evil: Game Cube REmake - Crimson Heads. That is all. They will make you panic every single time you see them. 2 shotgun blasts take them out, but time the shots wrong and they'll mop the freaking floor with your head and paint the walls with your blood.

PC for 1 & 3, gba for 2, Game Cube for 4

STEAM SAAAAALLLESSS
  • #124

League of Legends - All the fun of DoTA without insane Koreans pwning you

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - An FPS where complete strangers will actually aid you unlike randoms in a certain popular FPS *cough*COD*cough*

Company of Heroes Online - I mostly just bot bash with friends on this one. Think Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War mixed with Saving Private Ryan

Left 4 Dead and L4D2 - Zombies make everything better. I will admit to mild griefing but I only do it when I'm with people I know.

Garry's Mod - With the addition of toy box, playing single player is now ten times more fun. Multiplayer experiences will vary depending on the quality of the server and how dependable the admins are.

Team Fortress 2 - HATSSSS! No, I'm not one of those people, although I don't reject generous offers. Only $10 on steam right now so get while it's cheap!

I also play Killing Floor, CS:S, and COD4 when people ask.
  • #125

Did anybody get Battlefield: BC2 Vietnam?
  • #126

Late to this thread.

I don't game a huge amount anymore, I used to, but I don't enjoy it as much anymore unless the game is -REALLY- good, nor do I feel like I have the time.

Currently, I play this lot regularly, meaning in the evenings when I'm not out with friends and have done my work that needs doing:

Team Fortress 2 (In the 6v6 Competitive format in ETF2L, having won div6, tied first div5, played at high div4 unofficially, etc. I love it.)
Warsow (Quake/Unreal-like deathmatch/instagib/etc game, free, open source)
Bad Company 2 (The game of being a rebel and blowing shit up with friends)

Hello, fellow megatennist. =D

Yeah, I've been playing the Shin Megami Tensei series for some while now. Gotta love me some daemon fusing in an epic battle between law and chaos.

Oh, if anybody's interested, here's a lil' introduction to the franchise - Hardcore Gaming 101: Megami Tensei / Shin Megami Tensei

Y'know, I have to agree there. Plain shootin' ain't much fun. But you can always spice it up with intriguing RPG features, á la Deus Ex. ;)

Weird thing it though is that I love 3PS's. Ratchet & Clank was pretty much just shooting but I had incredibly fun times with it.

Probably has some to do with the whole feel of it. I mean, Black was developed by Criterion (really big fan of their games), but I just found it really dull despite all the explosions and the amazing graphics. Same goes to Metroid Prime 3. I didn't even finish it. I got pretty far in the story, but that's that.

Its easier to emphasize with your character when you can see them than when you're looking "through his eyes."

I always thought FPS' missed the mark when it came to what they were trying to do. The way the weapon is shown, the reticle, etc, nothing really gives me the impression of it being through the protagonist's eyes. And of course not being able to see the main character usually translates to him not speaking or really interacting, which always felt robotic to me.

I play basically only Xbox360 games

Borderlands
Fallout 3 and New Vegas (currently playing)
*Orangebox*
(TF2 (Sniper FTW!)
L4d and L4d2 (Francis and Ellis)
Deadrising
Cod: Modern Warfare 2
Bioshock
Oblivion
Fable 3
Resident Evil 5
Red Dead Redemption
Civilization Revolution (Romans RULE!)
Assassin's Creed 2

I have a whole lot more but these are the ones that come to mind and that I know I still play.

And I play Dead Frontier online occasionally but its very rare to find me there lately. I also have a wii but its in storage and I got rid of my PS3 cause I hated it.

At the moment I'm working on: Golden Sun: Dark Dawn (because the first two were among the best RPGs I've ever played), Monster Hunter Tri (just got for Christmas and am absolutely addicted to it), and I just picked up Metal Gear Solid 3 yesterday (although I'm debating whether I should go back and get subsistence instead if snake eater) so I'll be losing my soul on that for a bit.

Older games that I love are kingdom of hearts 2, legend of zelda : a link to the past, fire emblem and super mario 64

MMORPGS are Gunz, FlyFF and Vindictus

War games are Combat arms, COD black ops and battlefield bad company 2.
  • #138

I find FPS' boring unless they're in a competitive capacity, or you're able to screw around doing ridiculous stuff with friends.
Otherwise, I actually roll more on the RPG side of things, I am an absolute sucker for story.

Phoenix Wright much? One of the best game stories I have ever played, and better still, one of the best stories IMO of it's own right, even compared to books. Note the "one of" though ;)

MMO's can go and die in a fire most of the time though for all I care, awful games. You click on things and acquire virtual wealth, um?
  • #139

I have played Metroid:Zero Mission,Prime Hunters,Fusion <-Im beating Yakuza :D
Mario:Super Mario 64 Mario Tennis 64 Mario Kart 64 Mario and Sonic athe Olympic games Super Mario Bros DS and
Pokemon SoulSilver Crystal Ruby and Emerald.
but I forgot :smirk: (but the cool game from this comment is Metroid Fusion.)
On youtube I saw the final boss for Super Metroid...my mind was blown after that . _ .

They are awful if all you do is grind for levels and shit. They're really fun with friends though, and I mean really fun. Ragnarok comes to mind. Up to this day, I still take a peek on things happening on my local server. It helps that my friends still play it pretty religiously with the new expansion and all. I'm thinking of coming back but of course, I can't, because that'd mean spending money which I can't seeing as 2011 is looking great (and painful) for the PS3.
  • #141

At present, imma goin' WAAAAAY BACK and playing the PSP version of Final Fantasy 1. I want to go through the roman numeral legacy in order now that i have the majority of it in some way. (Just need to find the PSP version of 2 and wait for the PSP Collection of the titles that make up 4 that'll be coming out soon)

As far as my taste in gaming as a whole, i don't HATE FPS games at all. There just aren't a lot of them that really cater to my tastes because a lot of them seem to fall under two different categories: War Sim and Post-Apocalyptic Sim. Unless they have some sort of crazy game-defining weapon or something, these are BORING to me. Give me something that's engaging, like Bioshock or Perfect Dark. Something of actual substance that hasn't been dragged through the mud a bajillion times over since Halo signalled to everyone to saturate the market and corrupt the only "real" Video Game Awards with the mucho-macho-manly-steroid mandate of the Spike network. Gag me.

Others i don't like usually fall under games that usually don't appear on consoles, like most sim games, RTS games, and MMOs. The reasoning for those is another big thing: online play focus. Either the bulk of the experience is dependant on a good connection that i don't have, and/or a monthly fee. No thank you. I already paid my $50, i don't need to pay more. The only other things that i just don't play anymore are racing games and sports games. Sports because... well, i watch them, ain't no need to play them, and Racing because a lot of the modern ones almost require an interest in the ins and outs of cars, which i don't have. The ones that DON'T require it, usually all the different kart racers/Twisted Metals, again, focus on multiplayer, but in this situation, my friends don't live around where i live. So i'm kinda stuck. lol.

I pretty much love all final fantasy games give me one and I'll play it, kingdom hearts, ratchet and clank, all sonic games (yes even 06 and shadow) Kirby games, pokemon, Assassin's Creeds, Spectrobes, Professor Layton, basically any RPG I don't mind FPS's but I REALLY suck at them, I do like MMO's but not a lot of them, pretty much everything fantasy genre (which now that I think about it is nearly all games, but I think my message got through)
