VIDEO GAMES I know you play them, don't lie to me!

Ok i might not have liked the ending to mass effect 3 but the multiplayer is really awesome. Seriously playing as a krogan soldier is the funniest thing ever.

When I saw a video of someone charging around, bitch-slapping and head-butting Cerberus soldiers, part of me was willing to buy the game just for that. Pity there's no Krogan Vanguard or Turian Infiltrators though.

@Jackkuro That is now my personal-canon ending to the ending of Mass Effect.

This has nothing to do with Mass Effect, but is anyone else excited for Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir?

ME3 ending related picture (spoilery maybe)

Probably for sale in the form of Bioware's next ME3 DLC package. The bastards.

Also it's amusing how quickly the Maurader Shields (and the three huskiteers) thing seems to be turning into a meme.

I don't even.

"Where is the option not to have him do that" it's not the real, proper ending.

And, if we stop for a single solitary second and think, there is only one choice that is correct.

A good read on the ME3 Indoctrination Theory (spoilers obviously)

Oh, Susan wrote the Mass Effect story line, I did not know. Good job trolling all the fans.

I do not care which is the 'correct' choice, I want the choice I want to make represented.

I just decided to make CoD an actual hard game by turning off aim assist, if you're good at shoot, I'd recommend trying it, it's a good challenge.

I never used that. Auto shooting in a shooting game is like auto strategy in a final fantacy game.

1. I hope by auto shooting you mean aim assist.

2. In a game where every other person is using that advantage, taking it away makes it a lot easier for them to win.

Recently started Deus Ex: Human Revolutions and god damn it is fun. Normally I hate being stealthy and prefer to annihilate everything in a hail of lead but it's actually more fun and entertaining to go the sneaky route in this game, to the point where I'm having more fun and enjoying the challenge of sneaking around and trying to complete levels and takedown enemies without being caught.
  • #2617

I always turn off aim-assist whenever I'm given the option. My friends were wondering why I was doing so terribly compared to everyone else in multiplayer Red Dead Redemption. We played through the challenge modes and I always got the lowest score. Then we played through the expert challenges where everyone's aim-assist was turned off. Needless to say, I wiped the floor with them.

In other news, I'll be streaming today after 3 weeks of inactivity. I'm thinking Halo C.E. on Legendary difficulty at 8:30 PM Eastern.
  • #2618

Why do shooting games have aim-assist?

This to such a degree. The added difficulty is the achievements for no deaths of enemies and no alarms set off. I am in the middle of a pacifism run myself.

Usually, it's hard yo get precise aim with a controller, which is why it's annoying as fuck to aim in some games without aim assist.

DLancer:
Aim Assist is easier on the programmer than making sure the controls work, I guess. It also works as a gameplay leveler for people who may have difficulties--new players, or even handicapped players. If I remember right, using it in competitive play is considered cheating in many cases.

Naw, not really, even without aim assist most games controls are great, it's just the hardware that gets most people. That's why we've been using aim assist since the N64. It doesn't allow for as many movements as the pc does, so they instead are forced to give players a little help.

Agree with that.

According to Seananners, there are no rules against it, they don't even mention it, I guess it's just a choice.

Still not quite sure how I feel about this

  • #2624

I personally have no problem aiming at a center-mass shot, I guess the weapon in-game will fire a round that I cannot see and adjust to... :shrugs:

Salvaged from Recess. Anyway, on the subject of aim assist, I've never played a game that uses it. The majority of my time spent playing FPSes involve TF2, and I always play sniper. It's just easy for me to pull off jerk shots or get headshots in a split second.

Personally I feel aim assist is just an official, less-aggressive aimbot. Not fair.
  • #2627

Man I can never play as Sniper, my reactions are way to slow.
I sort of find Aim Assist, like Susan said, it's basically an aimbot.

For me Aim Assists would be some sort of aid for the newbie players,After you get the hang of it you should try to get better without it,If you use them all the time you'll get nowhere.

I picked up Armored Core 5 because I saw that it was developed by From Software, the same beautiful bastards who made Chromehounds. I see a lot of things in it that I loved in CH, but it's a little jarring for me going from walking around in lumbering mechs to gundamnesque spaztic movement. Still fun with friends, though. Anyone else tried it?

I use aim assist because I can't shoot RC-XDs, those little buggers are hard as hell to shoot.
  • #2631

I have to agree with Susan that it seems like an aim bot. I think aim assist should be turned off for online play, the people who do play that kind of stuff online. Aim assist seems like something that is better in single player parts of the game, not everyone wants to play shooters online. If there is a shooter out there that a good story, you bet I want to play it but I won't take it online mostly because it is not my thing.

I've been playing a lot of me3 multiplayer lately but i keep getting disconnecting from the ea servers. My net is working and i don't get disconnected from xbox live but it just keeps dropping me from games. Anyone else have a problem with mass effect 3 online?
  • #2633

EA has always had server trouble with new launches.

Everyone. Last night I tried a room of 3 with a couple buddies and nope, the Party Chat kept on getting dumped and the one of us kept getting disconnected. It's not LIVE nor is it internet related, it's EA. Their servers only work half the time when it counts (like for this weekend's ME3 challenge) in any given game, so I'm not surprised. It was even worse in early 2007 with the Battlefield Modern Combat servers; would lose connection to servers after an hour or two all the time. >:(
  • #2636

Ok thanks. its good to know its not my fault.

Edit: Live is back up now

Getting rid of this because big topics with a general idea kind of defeat the purpose of a forum and essentially become "Random Chat: Video Game Special Edition".
If you wanna talk about a specific video game or series or discuss a genre, that's fine, but these big general topics tend to be cluster-fucks of stupid.
