What is so appealing about her?
Physically, she's short, flat and innocent looking, which makes her seem that much more cute. In my opinion, cute > sexy, no exceptions. Also, my preferred kind of cats have always been the ones with stripes. Personality-wise, I've also always had a thing for the kind of girls that don't talk much; they always piqued my interest and I'm very curious about them. From the little I've seen of her, she also seems like she is a cheerful and really nice person.

Nope, this would be the first time. It's not really common for me.

How do you feel about the people who insist on having a problem with your attachment? Do you agree with them? Disagree? Are they within their rights to have an issue?
While I think they are within their right to be mad/annoyed/whatever, do they really have to be so bashful about it? Sure, they may disagree with me and there's really not a problem with that, it's understandable, but I think things go too far when people start throwing around personal attacks. I mean, what have I ever done to them? How I feel for a fictional character doesn't really have anything to do with them.

How do you feel about having the attachment? Is it unhealthy?
Sincerely, I feel really good! I don't think it is unhealthy as long as the effects this has on me are positive. It has led me into knowing myself better and opening my mind, among other things. Things weren't always as bright as they are now though. In the end, I guess it all depends on how you channel your energy in any situation.

How would you feel if Amaya turned out to be a total bitch?
Well, too bad I guess? Sometimes things aren't what they seem. I would probably feel a bit disappointed though.

You probably shouldn't have legitimized some of OP's more loaded questions by answering them, Zoe.

Because from the sound of it you're admitting to forming a "strong relationship" and "attachment" to Amaya. There's nothing wrong with liking a character, as it comes down to personal taste. But being as attached to a character as those questions try to imply you are... well that is taking it a step too far.

I don't think this is actually the case with you becase of your last answer...

Bourbon, what is so bad about that? He isn't saying that Amaya is his savior or anything, he just enjoys the character (in more ways than one). Wouldn't anything that has positives which outweigh the negatives make your life better?

Krit, as I have explained countless times: just because I made a few jokes doesn't mean I'm trolling. Yes, the masturbation question was mostly a joke, but having it answered only helps shed light on things. Not everything has to be boring and serious. Life is not C-SPAN.

Yeah, it was funny. But when someone who doesn't get it tries to answer your joke-question as if it was serious then he's shooting himself in the foot. I think I might understand what Zoe is saying a little bit
Amaya did for him what Tohru Honda did for me (other than the romantic part)
Tohru is someone I aspire to be like: she's exceptionally kind, humble and understanding.
For me she made me want to be a better person, and have a happier outlook on like, like she did.
Tohru is an important person to me, and I would regard her as someone who helped me, but I had to be the one to make the change, I had to make the choice, an that's a something everyone must do alone.

I don't think it's unhealthy to admire or feel attachment to a fictional character; it's not a bad thing (as long as ur not a crazy)

I am glad that Zoe declares proudly his admiration, and if anyone tried to put a stop to it, I think they would be trespassing on his right to freedom of speech and expression.

It's kind of what you say. People can have different influences in other people, and make them look up to them or something. Many times people just go "I wish I was like X" or "I wish I could do Y", and stop at that; I think it really depends on the person itself to move beyond that and actually get to action, but sometimes it's just that initial spark that's missing.

Actually, Amaya's not the only one that has helped me in such a way. There are a few other people that have inspired me, in many different ways. To name a few:

• SuitCase: He is actually my biggest influence right now. I felt admiration for him because of all the things he has achieved over here, and how he made this place grow. That admiration makes me look forward towards achieving goals of my own.
  
• Amaya: At first she pushed me towards improving my drawings, and by experimentation it made me realize things about what I'm good at drawing and what I'm not. Translated to real life, this reminds me to take consideration of my own abilities and weaknesses, to know what I can and cannot do. Am I not good enough yet? Become better then! She is the reminder of possibility, and is also a such a sweetheart. <3
  
• Taeshi: We cannot deny that she has been through so many things in her life, but even then she manages to endure everything, making her possibly one of the strongest people I've ever seen. She reminds me of the challenges in life, and that sometimes you will have rocks thrown at you. This is what separates the weak from the strong, one must not give up once the hardships start coming along (Hey, it rhymed!). It's wise to retreat when you detect any sunken costs though.
  
• A school teacher: Many times, even when you want something really bad, you still can't seem to be able to obtain it by yourself. Remember there are people that know much more about a subject than you do. There's no shame in asking for help from other people. This teacher is such a person, my guide whenever I don't know how to proceed.

Well, at first I though you were talking about mine. At the time, I didn't know you thought I was commenting on Zoe's post. Frankly, I didn't read past the first page. I just commented that I find it funny that this thread was made because it's kind of true. Who cares about Amaya and who should care if people obsesses over her?

I think the main thing is people like her becuase she's sweet and quiet and nice. to me, she's ok, but she's so far in the background she might as well be a part of the fucking furniture.

Anyway Toddymon, for the sake of the discussion can you at least give us some insight from the furry perspective as to why some people may find Amaya so... interesting?

Furries are both incredibly complicated as well as stupidly simple. So as a furry with alot of experience in the field I will give you the low down on how a furry would find her attractive.

lets start with the basics:
exhibit A, she's a cat: There are few things a furry finds more alluring then a cat (one of those things being a rabbit but I digress). You would think that its simply because well cats are fuzzy and cute as well as agile flexible and have a large range of color patterns. True, but not entirely. Mostly its that they are easily to relate too. Cats are domestic pets that have such an immense range of character, personality and build that you can often see the direct reflection of the owner just by looking at their cat. And just about everyone has experienced a cat in some for or another, so wrapping your imagination around a cat is an amazingly simple task.

B. novelty: amaya is as far as we know, a mute. In furry land, that instantly wins you points if you can personify that because then you must find routes to be cute while at the same time not using any verbal responses what so ever. Amaya does this by 1. selling popcorn at just about any occasion for which popcorn may be desired 2. by simply being wide eyed and cute as events go on around her. Thus in irony, by being the quietest one, she gets the most attention simply because she must act differently then everyone else.

C. her trademarks: She wears a bow, and though you would argue so does lucy, amaya wears a bow and is mute, which exemplifies her cute. Now not only is she a cute character with cute looks, she has a stereotypically cute accessory simply to state that she is cute. that mixed with the fact that she will never say anything, thus adding mystery to that cute now makes her the representation of cute (in short, she is the batman of cute.)

Chronic silence, character expressed through only bodily signals, cute looks, cute clothes, odd fixation with popcorn. Many people who enjoy odd-men-outs are drawn to this, which is furries in general. Mix that with her being a cat and bam, you've got hello kitty. We all know what furries do to hello kitty.

We can all agree that the major cause is fetishes. And in case of obsessiveness, is pretty wrong. But look on the bright side, there are much worse shit out there. Fawning over a fictional tabby is harmless.

People like her because she's a blank slate for them to project their weird fantasies onto.

That's why Twilight is so fucking popular, Bella is such a fucking paper thin character that anyone can put themselves in her place and pretend two hot guys are swooning over them.

Your statement is making an Amaya = Bella argument, when we all know that a spoon as more complexed characterization than Bella. Amaya just doesnt get enough face time for deeper character development.

Also, Bella was a main character whereas Amaya is a secondary, so Amaya has more of an excuse to be less developed than Bella...Bella aint got no excuses at all

It doesn't matter if it's due to her not having enough face time or the fact that she doesn't speak, she's a shallow character. There isn't much to her besides her vow of silence.

If you disagree then what, pray tell, are some major personality traits Amaya has? What are some of her flaws?
