On that line of thought I'd prefer a bisexual character, frankly while 'gay' and 'lesbian' sees increasing use in written work, bisexual characters continue are not seen nearly as much. Actually the characters sexuality would be in the background, rarely brought up. I would make the character male, would be a cat, would have piercing eyes of an undetermined color that would make Taeshi herself hesitate, would have dark black fur, would be living in the shadow of a famous parent or sibling. The piercing eyes would cover a kinder personallity...but I've no idea how kind or cruel said character would be...I just made that up on a whim.
