Minty's Sketch Dump

So I recently got a new tablet and decided to test it out. Of course I realized the absolute best way to do so would be with BCB fanart.

Well, half finished fanart. I'll probably get around to finishing it eventually. Possibly.

I'll eventually post actual finished art. Maybe when I'm less busy. And possibly writings.

I like.
  • #2

Thanks Car. I will admit, I did them in a hurry, so they're not the best looking. Especially Lucy. I should really give her ears...
  • #3

I like all of it! Even your "shittiest Amaya ever"
I'd really like to see these completed, but even now the unfinished works look a lot like art
  • #4

The Daisy one is pretty great. Hope you get around to finishing it.

I wouldn't say that. There's a certain... style to them. Honestly, your first run with a tablet is better than mine.
  • #6

I think you guys are being too nice lol

Critique me or something! I see flaws in the sketches alone, (God I can't even begin to think what the lineart will end up like. I am terrible with that.) but I can't especially figure out why.
  • #7

I really like the sketchy style to your art. It's so ecstatic and energizing.
  • #8

Daisy's arm is looking a bit to short in the elbow to shoulder region
But I still love it, you whiner! :P
  • #9

Just kidding. Weeding out my old crap.

I just realized the elbow to shoulder thing. How could I have missed that lol...

Thanks Tabris. I'll fix that.

Cute little Daisy.

Yes I used her tail to save myself the time to actually draw much of her body (Although you can see bits that I sketched out and later erased.) and yes she only has one eye right now, but I decided to stop and play a game.

So for everyone who wants to see my completed art.

No.

Shut up. I'm lazy. I'll get around to it eventually. But in the meantime, look at how cute Daisy is!

Get that big bushy tail away from me~
  • #16

Daisy is cute there :) And the tail doesn't look so much as bushy, but maybe a bit more swift? I would say fox-like, but then some fox's are shown with bushy tails :P Adds to the kind of cunning/ seductive/ foxy attitude ;)
  • #17

It was a joke about Conker's Bad Fur Day lol

Does her tail look bad? Maybe I should change it?
  • #18

No, It looks great; that's what I was saying, it suits the rest of her.
  • #19

Ohhh awesome haha.

Man I cannot get her second eye to look right. It ends up looking soulless. I should just put the tablet down for now, before I get furious and chuck it across the room. I wouldn't want to ruin such an important, and not to mention expensive, gift either.

But I might actually finish Little Daisy soon and color her properly.
  • #20

Oh mai goodness. I would just eat it up.
  • #21

What kinda of tablet are you using? (Is too lazy to check if you already said so)
  • #22

These aren't bad at all, you grasp poses very well. Do you do life drawing? That's all this is, drawing loose sketchy poses as quick as you can. I think you'd be a whiz at that.

As far as critiques go, besides the lack of finished anything (which I really have no right to bring up since I finish like NOTHING), I think for BCB related art you're sticking a little too closely to human anatomy. You have a good grasp of poses, maybe experiment with exaggerating and simplifying them to get a more comic feel? Unless you purposely want them more humanistic, in which case by all means go for it.

Another thing, don't stress too much about lineart. Sometimes even those big sketchy lines can look better than clean lineart.
  • #23

As far as poses go, I usually stand in front of a mirror and sketch myself out as quickly as possible then go back over it in more detail later. And as for human anatomy, I'm not doing that purposely. I've... never drawn furry characters before. I honestly do not know how. I'll work on that though. Any tips on that exactly? Like what specifically should be exaggerated? I think I maybe make them a little too hippy, but then again, I have pretty big curvy hips and it just seems natural to me.

And thanks for the critique. I appreciate it.

Kekkon, Wacom Intuos4 is my tablet.

Considering this will be never finished, I removed it.

wow. Most of this are actually pretty damn good! I am kind of jelly.
  • #26

The stuff you have here is very nice! Definitely much better than what I'm capable of. XD You seem to be very good at drawing interesting poses.
I look forward to seeing some finished stuff. :)
  • #27

Oooooooohhhhhhhh....

Very nice!
  • #28

Gonna change them. :3 Removed for the time being.

I like the modifications you took for your style! It really paid off!
  • #30

That drawing style reminds me a lot of Humon's.

uhh... I love your drawings.
  • #31

I was going for Humon's style actually. :3 Good eye there Jack! Do you think it's too similar to that though?
  • #32

eh, it's a little too similar, although it does still seem like "Your" drawing.

:3
  • #33

I'll change it up a bit then.

Is this any better?

I don't even know. I sincerely apologize for this thing. It started out as a stick figure, you can even still see it if you look close enough. From there, I drew that weird cloud hair and then my mind wandered and my hand just sort of... moved. I don't even think I was fully conscious when I did this about 5 minutes ago. It creeps me out though.

D'awwww at the first drawing.

the second one isn't what I would call creepy, and very well done.
  • #37

Hey, don't knock it, I think it shows cartooning potential. I could see that as a character in something, maybe an art teacher or a florist :P
  • #38

Ahahaha so she's some kind of hippy flower child thing? Alright cool. :P

Honestly, I don't know what I was doing there. I sort of looked up and it was there. I've draw something similar to her once before and it was actually pretty cool looking, but my computer died and the picture wasn't saved so...
  • #39

Goddamn those are great sketches.
  • #40

If I were to post a mandatory writing thing for a class would you guys be willing to like... critique it and what not?
  • #41

Duck yes
  • #42

Depends on length and topic. ...and I guess content, but I expect nothing short of amazing from you ;)
  • #43

Oh no. I'm no writer. It's for a lolfeminism class that all college females are forced to take. I have to write a short story. It has to be about a girl walking home alone a night. -_-
  • #44

Wat

Oh well, let's hear it anyway.
  • #45

I'll post what I have so far later tonight. Mind you, I've written it all on my cellphone during my 10 minute breaks at work, so it's rather... bland. Also cliched and there's lots of parts I don't like or want phrased differently.
  • #46

Not done, but I DO intend to finish this. I actually like where it's going. I really tried doing something different here. I wasn't going for any particular style and I wasn't trying to mimic something I've seen before. I know the hands are wonky right now, I'm going to work on fixing that. The face is off right now too, but I'm also going to fix that.

just one thing

Lucy is one curvacious cat.
  • #48

Yeah... regardless of how I draw the women turn out curvy. I can't break that habit. I mean, unless I'm doing something like... the sketch above, the one of myself. (The glasses sketch, not the blue sketch.) If it's in that style, sure.
  • #49

Damn look at the size of that head. Especially the top part that looks like a fishbowl
