My favorite webcomic (well, technically it's a tie with another one but.... neh) thanks to it's great storyline and art style. The humor in the early comics is really what caught me and I stayed for the dramalicious storyline and the friendly forum... The character development is also a high point in the comic. One of the best I've seen.

Also, MikeXLucy, bitches!

Ooh, Bittersweet Candy Bowl is a rather fantastic comic. Strangely, it is the only one of my favourites that deals with drama (the others keep to more action or gag-related storylines, mostly in strips rather than pages); that is a true testament to it.

That said, half of the reason I stay here is because I enjoy the forums. I would probably still read the comic if this board did not exist, but the fact that I can talk with people here about the events that occur and the characters that make them so, probably makes it just a bit easier to be interested. But I still think it is a marvellous web comic, and worthy of a lot of praise. ^_^

I love the story very much, all the romance and drama and humor combined(usually with comics you only get one of those!) I've only started using the boards, but it is just another reason to keep coming back. I also like the Candybooru. How many webcomics have a ton of side goodies beside the comic for keeping you coming back? BCB is the only one out there I've found with all these little trinkets(including the freaking store, which some have but not everyone). What's not to love about it all? 1 + 1 = All the more fun!

I also love Magneto and CC. You know which two I'm talking aboooooout...

The art this year has really improved a lot, especially since the beginning of Mischief Night.

Most of the fans suck though.

Except me.

I'm pretty great.

o.k

and now for:
"oddguy:everything i like about bcb"
so let me gush here for a sec.

1.good characterization.
the first few chapters not withstanding,i like the way all the characters have personalitys.
unlike what most wecomics have, which is a single personalty trait.
yes, most webcomic (and not only them) have a roster that consists of characters best described as:
"the smart one" "the dumb one" "the angry one" and so on...
but you cant make a good comic with nothing but stock characters.
and lil is one of the only people who seems to understand that.

2.its unpredictable.
in most story you can pretty much figure the end out in the first chapter.
in bad ones you can do it in the first minute.
we all know how it gos. male lead ends up with female lead,"B couple" (look it up on tv tropes),
and comical guy switches ten girlfriends over the course of one season, and ends up with the hottest one.
(as a way to overcompncate for the creators bruised ego from no love life.)
and any character added to late in the series will be nothing but a plot device.
by that logic,by the end of chapter 20,lucy should have ended up with mike, daisy with paulo and david with whoever.
and if not, then it should have still been obvious that that is where things are leading.
but no.
at this point, there must be like... 50 fucking ways the comic could possibly end !
i have no idea ! and characters added recently are dating main characters !
i don't know if lil is pulling plots out of a hat at random, but i know i'm never ready for them.

3.actual character development !
this is rear anywhere, let alone webcomics.
the right way to develop a character is to have it gradually change thrue a period of time,in a way that will efect all its actions.
but that's hard to write.
most artist settle for a single event that,in theory, changes the person completely.
but in actuality, the character remains exactly the same, save for occasional mention or flashback of said event.
character dev' in most story's is basically: "ever since my father was killed by that watermelon i'm a different person.
but only around watermelons."
look at paulo... LOOK AT HIM !
he is a prime example of how to do it right.
he started out as a one dimensional pervert, then reviled his secret insecurity's,then changed and developed...
that some good writing.
so lil,i salute you for seceding at something most artist fail at.

4.artist is not a duochbag.
i was reading up some webcomic review sites... john solomon atc.
and many of them talk about how crazy the artist is.
one of these applies to lil as well... "college roommate from hell fans are crazy."
you are insane ! ... fine... WE are insane.
whenever vero snaps at someone on the forum,i cant help but think: "why dose this not happen more often ?"
she is waaaaaaaaaaaaay to nice to the people on this forum, even though most of them don't deserve it.
i mean look at me. i used to tell lil att the time that a bunch of stuff she did sucks.
and she always just takes it as constructive criticism !
the only time i remember her ever getting pissed is when i toled her one of the characters is being "ooc".
her reply can be summarized as:"your telling me i did MY character ooc ?,what are you ? an idot ?"
and then she apologized for being too harsh ! and i was just thinking: "damn... i am a fucking idiot."
what i'm saying is this:
lil works hard to improve her art.
keeps to a schedule.
listens to peoples advice no mater how stupid it is.
puts your retarded fancharctars in the comic !
and generally puts up with your shit, people.
STFU.

i could go on and on like this,
but in conclusion:
bcb is my favorite webcomic.
it may not be the best drawn (lil,if your reading this... common ! their feet are squre !)
but, even when dealing with the most mundane things like high school,
it menages to be more interesting and better written then a thousand fucking "epic" fantasy story's.
its by far the best written.
and i'm glad to be one of the people that have been reading it from the day it started.

(you still cant draw backgrounds though, lil.)

I got off-topic?.... OH, that I go to FA and saw that link... forgot about that... well, that comment is not really THAT off topic. I mean its helping add a similarity to BCB in that they both have a furry audience. and that Suitcase shouldn't complain... I think...

I came here with the intent to delete this comic from my bookmarks list, and when I actually began reading it, I was realized I was hooked. The scruffy art style was refreshing after reading a bunch of webcomics that are polished to a blinding lens-flared sheen of colours vomited onto the canvas. Then inevitably we came back to colour, but OH WELL. The humour was great in the beginning, if it has taken a slight back seat to all the ridiculous angsty drama that, nevertheless, draws me in like a net, though that's part of the comic's awesome progression and development, and the characters keep up at least.

Their feet are NOT square!!

They're just SONIC STYLE DURPADURP

(I remember that OOC thing Oddguy, I wasn't pissed! I was just confused hahahhahaha)
  • #20

That's because everyone can find themselves on those characters XD .
  • #21

One major reason that I like BCB so much is the forums/IRC/community in general. Whenever I read a webcomic, I'll usually "get hooked" until I reach the end. I follow it for a while, but realize that the updates are too slow, or there just isn't anything that is keeping me at the site. BCB is different. I cannot tell you how many times I check the forums each day, just to read them. I visit this site so much that it is the only bookmark I have. Anyways, I think that's why I like BCB so much. The community draws me back to it all the time and makes it much less boring than it would be without it.
  • #22

I like that all the cool characters are dogs like david, mccain, justin, and Polaroid,

Definitely the storyline and character development. I've read a ton of webcomics, and regardless of what you do a comic about, sticking with the general high school drama stuff is actually pretty difficult to maintain - BCB succeeds in keeping it's readers entertained. I also enjoy the side chapters, those that don't necessarily have to do with the main storyline because they're refreshing to read. You can also definitely feel for the characters. I'm really looking forward to how they'll be at the end :)

This is the first webcomic community, you can say, that I've ever really been involved in. I've been busy to always keep up but I've enjoyed it so far :D
  • #25

I actually don't know why I like the comic. I was really into the arc where they all went on vacation. Maybe because that's where shit went down.

thats the only arc you need to read to know what is going on, you get all the info like:
Tess is a rich bitch
paulo is into girls
david is retardly akesome
lucy is a bitch wrought with insecurities
mike wears a scarf
daisy and abbey don't matter so fuckem
palm trees grow in the tropics

I like it when someone actualy makes threads about the comic...and Paulo X Lucy all the way. 8-)

I feel pretty much the same. I did fall out of the forums for a good while because I had real world shit to do, but I'm back. I haven't really found a good forum community that I can mesh with at another comic's website.
