What advice would you tell your 16-year-old self?

Well, if we are not including things like food and lodging. ^_^

Also taxes and surcharges. Prize winnings generally don't cover such things, and they make up a fair bit of the ticket price.

If it was an immediate return ticket, nothing would have been lost. :D

Considering you can buy (and presumably redeem) the tickets right in the Minneapolis airport, sounds about right. Well, except for those niggling airport fees and taxes, but I'm sure you'll cover those. :D

agh! I keep getting wacko and ILB mixed up because of their lack of avatars, green names and titles!

If you do not see the :smirk: there, you can probably presume that it is indeed Wacko.

For the most part, you can actually assume that it is he. I am mostly visiting. ^_^

Hardly. If it makes you three dollars richer, I would call it money well spent. ^_^

As long as you did not waste it, anyway.

You'd fly to Minnesota and back for 3 dollars? You'd make more money working for minimum wage.
You can't really consider it a holiday either, since the return trip is so quick and you were just there before.

I'm 16 right now so... "What ever happens, happens. No regrets." :D

"It won't kill you to open up a little more! Sure you have a job and get your homework done in a timely fashion, but you have the personality of a soapdish. Be a little more outspoken at school, people won't ignore you 95% of the time that way and you won't feel so lonely."

"Don't worry, be your self. You'll have a girlfriend by the age of 17 and your life will be just fine. Also get a job you lazy bum because It's is going to be really hard to sustain your anime addiction without one."

It'd be too late to say anything. Try my parents circa 1990.

"Masturbating is awesome, but you already knew that, just don't let your Catholic upbringing ruin that for you. Fun fact, masturbation is better for you than blue balls! Funner fact, here's a list of awesome free porn sites."

Accept now that there is no purpose or meaning to life. The sooner you get over it and stop wasting your time, the better.

EDIT: Also, learn to enjoy life.

The world is more selfish than you think

Pay attention in school and put out that fire.

"Hey, you know that sketchbook filled with your drawing that you keep in the back of your drawer in your room? DON'T THROW THAT AWAY YOU LITTLE SHIT!"

"Don't think too much about stuff, you'll probably just find a reason to not do shit."

"Stop being such a pussy, the next time one of those assholes from school tries to pick on you, punch that fucker in the face."

"Those porn magazines in the bathroom are poorly hidden, get on that."

"NEVER. STOP. DRAWING. You love it and you know it."

"Also, you're gonna have to have your wisdom teeth removed. Those painkillers are no joke, try not to walk into any walls when you are stumbling out of the clinic you stupid fuck."
  • #118

Well now that I'm 17 I can actually render a bit of hindsight wisdom for a mistake I made... Which is to say I should never get too attached to anything for fear of feeling pain. Or, at the very least, realize that things will turn out the way they do--and fearing about it will do nothing for me.

In short, stop worrying so much.

"That one girl that you are currently dating will break up with you... oh, you already figured that? Never mind then."

I think I'd probably tell my 16 year-old self to get a haircut and then go back to playing piano because he's going to do it in the future anyways.

"Join Concert Choir! 'Cause they're going to Walt Disney World this year!"

(Also my biggest regret).
  • #121

That might be one of the most innocent yet relatable things in this whole thread and I love it.
