I just read Watership Down a few days ago, actually. Mostly because I hadn't read it earlier.

The very heavy use of "queer" and the occasional "gay" amused me for obvious reasons. But I found it a rather nice story about rabbits.

The one thing I find odd is how often the term "Passed hraka" is used. I just keep thinking, "Ok man, I realize rabbits poo but there is no reason to mention it so much."

It makes me wonder what a story would be like if the author took time to mention every time a character farted/belched. I took a minute today to imagine what Lord of the Rings would be like with that.

Reading "The Fountain Head" then moving on to re-reading "Road Side Picnic" and "Metro 2033"

Uuuhhhh. Ayn Rand? I guess it isn't that bad but her philosophical theories are horribly flawed. I heard John Galt has a 6 page speech in Atlus Shrugged. Something crazy huge that is insane to look at.

Yeah, I am not a fan of her. She makes me slightly angry.

Okay Craft, I will give you that one. It made me smile. Unless Jerk was actually making that joke.

Nope, that was 100% Craft.

Niggers, I need more sci-fi. Keep it coming.

WELL SHIT THEN FINE.

Ever heard of Eric Nylund? No? Ever heard of Halo? As a former Microsoft employee he was tasked with writing the story bible for Halo, and has written two and half book sin the series (as in he's written some short stories and helped others).

Too bad they retconned most of his ideas. ANYWAYS, despite your opinions on the Halo series or its books, Eric is a brilliant writer.

And these two books by him are probably my favorite Sci-Fi novels ever.

This book is so delightfully fucked up. I love it.

I see seeds of a good narrative buried in Halo. I don't mind giving his non-Halo stuff a try.

I'm only a couple chapters into this book. So far, it has a) brought to my attention some fascinating questions about human nature and b) blown my mind at least once. I recommend it.

Don't read the Halo stuff. Having recently reread one of the Halo books by Nylund... I mean the book was shitty. I can only hope he writes things not based on video games better.

My friend is reading that book and he seems to like it a great deal.
