Feel better taeshi!

From taeshi's daily journals and her recent BCB update it is apparent that she is not feeling the best mentally at the moment. So I created this thread to offer our love and support in hopes you will feel better soon. You are truly a amazing talented person, please try too not forget that :D

Seconded.

Take as long as you want to update. You could take a year and I wouldn't care.

Agreed take you time the content is worth the wait :D
  • #3

I am content with the. 8-) content.

It would be good if she took a break, but I don't think that will happen, judging by the latest formspring answers.

I guess we can only give her support and hope she realizes we're serious and it somehow goes through the wall of self-loathing.

Feel better Taeshi, your fans really care about you and many wouldn't mind (and some would probably encourage) if you took a break. :(
  • #5

I've actually been afraid to start a topic like this, so thanks for doing for me! 8-)
But in an all serious note, Taeshi, your an amazing person. You've created this wonderful and amazing comic that was just born out of your childhood sketches. When it grew, so did your loyal and loving fan base and followers. You and Souppy are a really great couple. You two help each other and compliment each other. You guys are extremely funny and have amassed a loving and caring following. Keep up the good work!

Feel better Taeshi. :)
  • #7

Taeshi is amazing regardless of anything. She has oustanding talent and carisma towards almost everything she does. Spending time to make these comic and living her real life must be difficult. She deservses a break from making art and should have more time for herself and Souppy.
  • #8

Yes, finally! I've always thought the same thing.

Taeshi, you work hard and we love your work. Personalky it breaks my haert to see you constantly berate yourself, and I'm trying to accept you've been a puddle of angst for ao much time, but it hurts. Still, although it falls on deaf ears, I have nothing but repect and admiration for you. I hope you and Suitcase have a long and happy life together and that someday you'll see just how incredible you are.

A successful artist in any endeavor should be aware of their flaws, but not so much that they forget entirely about all of the overwhelmingly good stuff. You don't get uch a huge fanbase for a reason.

And hey, if you ever show confidence, please realize we'll be super psyched! There's abslutely nothing sinful in self-confidence, in fact people like me desperately read Taeshidiary hoping for the occasional happy one.

As for the comic, I think a small break would be good for you. We're not going anywhere just because you're not updating. If you really want something, why not some of your favorite fancomics? Or do a round 2.

There should be a guest comic week or something. If only I could draw...

I'm sure people would be willing to make guest comics for Taeshi if she could take a break that way, and since we just finished a huge angsty story arc, people wouldn't mind having an intermission before another huge angsty chapter.

Guest Comic Bonanza 2.0: The Return

Also yeah take a break or something I guess.
  • #12

A guest comic thing is a legitimate way to take a break, Taeshi...
  • #13

She just started a new chapter, she can't stop now.
I'd have an obligation to myself to finish it if I did something like that.

The Web-comic "Dead Winter" just started a guest artist bonanza, so yeah. Check it out.

Just take a break. Nobody's going to bite your head off for it.
  • #16

I definitely agree, you have TWO webcomics that you update throughout the week PLUS Ask Roseville High Tumblr that you post in atleast once a day, and the site, and the store. You can only do so much Taeshi.. I don't think anyone (unless they are selfish and stupid) would complain about you taking some "me time"

Know that we all love you and your webcomic!! :)
  • #17

Go ahead and take a break. I see no reasons against it! You deserve time off Taeshi. Thanks for making the awesome comics! They cheer me up when I am down. :D
Take a break Taeshi!
  • #18

Is it bad that I thought this thread was posted by Taeshi's Socks?

You're at the beginning of the chapter - a guest comic week would still be legit at this point, so I advise doing that. Feel better! :D

hmm a guest comic week you say? i'd be all for it, but i think it'd be more appropriate if it were to happen after the chapter's over.
  • #20

..Amazil, there's 30 pages left. That means it won't be over for another 10 weeks.

Meaning it won't really do much then.
  • #21

I can draw fancomic if it's needed! And I think that if Taeshi feels tired she should take a break, since recent chapter is surely not easy to draw...
I adore your work, I already said that via formspring, You are really great. Please feel better.

Taeshi, I'm saddened to hear that you're cutting yourself again. ;_; Don't listen to that self-deprecating garbage your brain feeds you. You know you're a wonderful artist and a wonderful person and many people look up to you. You have a comic which lots of people around the world enjoy reading and discussing and even getting inspiration from to make fan art and fanfics. Focus on the positives!!

If you have a lack of self-esteem regarding your body, then could I suggest starting a regular exercise program? It'll give you more energy and make you feel like you're actually doing something to combat at least one of your problems. Maybe join forces with SuitCase, I think you said awhile ago that he's lost weight? Join him for daily walks around the neighbourhood or something! And don't be afraid to lean on him for support. Or on us, for that matter. We all care about you! And no, you're not annoying us at all, or being a burden to us. Far from it. We all care about you and we're concerned about you!

Admittedly I personally don't understand why some people feel compelled to self-harm. Even when I was at my most depressed and hating myself for not being able to get things done, I never once considered hurting myself. If you feel like you have to mark yourself, might I suggest wrapping your legs with gauze and using red marker instead? I just don't want you hurting yourself, you're worth way more than that. ._.

Your mental health is the most important thing here. If you ever feel like you have to take a break from things, then please do so, even if it's in the middle of a chapter. We all want you to be a happy, healthy, confident Taeshi. And yes, that is actually something you can attain. Ganbatte! :)

I didn't hear her say she was cutting.

I read her journal comic but it's so damned depressing.
  • #26

I implore you to take some time off if you need to. Trust me, the worthless, whining furries who will demand an update can bloody well wait if that's what you need to feel better.
  • #27

Look, we won't go anywhere. If you need to take time off, have people do guest comics or something. The whiners who demand an update like you're a ansty kitten making machine can wait. Pay them no mind.

I know this means nothing coming from me, but I have very recently (past 4 years) had my own struggles with stress and depression. I'm linking a song that helped me through those times, and I hope it will do the same to you.

  • #28

I already told her I can't read her diary comics, and you're talking to someone who watched a video of a cat attempting to wake up and then snuggling his recently deceased cat friend wearing an unconscious smirk through the whole fucking video.

It's not like she doesn't know my opinion by now anyway. But even if I've tried to avoid commenting on it directly so far, I'm glad ILB stickied this. I don't know if it'll accomplish anything but I do think she needs to see her fans and friends showing some kind of solidarity for her.

Maybe it's the only proper way to treat the one person who brought us all together with all the gravitas and support she deserves.
  • #29

I hope you feel better Taeshi :( Your fans will wait if you have to take a break, we worry about you constantly and check up on you to make sure you are ok. You draw amazing comics and I'm surprised how well you have held on and you also inspire other artists to improve on their own.

I know how being depressed feels and I've been struggling for the past 5 ish years. Like the people said above me, your health is the most important thing here and the whiny fans demanding an update from you like your a machine can damn well wait.
  • #30

Indeed you do deserve a break Taeshi. As Jerk said you've brought us all together with your awesome comic and have helped many of us with our own problems (for example me in the "tales of drama survival thread" Thank you so much for that). Take just as much time as you need
  • #31

funfact: those diary comics are from a month ago
  • #32

ps. the fact that tae has made comics involving depression means that she isn't really all that bad, i think! she is self aware enough to use comics to find humor in how ridiculous her unreasonable negativity is, and being able to find humor in such feelings is a pretty good way to combat them!

BCB exactly hasn't been happy-go-lucky for a very long time now (which is a good thing). i dunno what it was that suddenly got this point across to you, its about relationships and drama and growing up and angst. none of these things are particularly filled with joy. just because david hasn't made a uterus joke for 5 minutes doesn't mean that taes mental state is deteriorating.
  • #33

The last diary comic was posted just the other day, snooths.

I do believe he means the setting is from a month ago. Meaning the comics aren't up to date.

- An interesting read -

You raise a good point. Lots of comedic people can be very unhappy on the inside (although just because she isn't being comedic doesn't mean she is happy). I guess it's the brain's self-defense mechanism against depression, an influx of sadness will cause them to act jovially.
There is a possible exception, that the person is sad and isn't even trying to get better, but I hardly think that's the case.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, you can't just accept her as 'broken' and then force her (through peer pressure) to do something she normally wouldn't do. Personally, I'm all for taking breaks, but it has seemed like a one-sided argument so far and, well, even Serial killers get a defence attorney. If I'm wrong and you all kick my arse, then that's completely fair.

I have to agree with everyone here, Ya know there is no shame in takin' a break and giving a few days to yourself. If you're starting to see this as a job or a chore then take a break and step back for a while and have someone fill for you for the day, I am sure that on the forum there is at least 20-30+ than call fill for you, and other artiest you have inspired or meet through out you being on the internet :)

Feel better and don't stress so much, You have all brought us close together and we are all very grateful for that and you.
  • #43

I was going to PM you, but it looks like that is not possible. So I will just put this here:

Yes, asking an artist if they will update could be considered nagging, annoying, discouraging, and very irritating. But it depends on the context: if I was to ask about updates from, say, you. That would be all of those things because you would have clearly given a date or a notice of a late update, or when you would plan on coming back to a certain project. Even if you didn't, we could still be assured that there is no point in asking as you would if you could/ wanted to. On the other hand, someone like FatCat, who only posts in the creative arts forum, and a few times, and who has the comic as a small aside project, might have gotten busy and later lost interest in the comic. A few simple greetings could remind and/ or encourage her to come back to the comic.

That's my opinion, and I stick to it. How the artist perceives the request is up to them, but they should know that only the decent members intend the question to be a greeting rather than a demand.
  • #44

Take a break from the Internet or something. It's never a very healthy place if you're already stressing out; tends to stress you out even more. Feel better soon and don't feel ashamed about taking a break because no one worth it is going to fault you for it.

Really? I argued that she had done nothing wrong and was being treated poorly by the masses because they don't see a person, they see a service becase they don't know her. I said she owed nothing to anyone and that all artists seem to dislike their own art because their ego is protecting them from potential failure and humiliation rather then real failure and humiliation. I think that's called being supportive.

that would be great if she was in a better mood. maybe i would get to post in creative arts someday. I'm still amazed at how she does these comics every time she says without failure. it's extraordinary.
