I have $25 in AIDS?

So I was walking home from work and this guy is standing on the corner with a girl half his age and a puppy. He says something to the guy in front of me and the guy says, "Okay." and keeps walking. The other guy proceeds to tell me, "I have $25 worth in AIDS. It's pretty dank. You'd be stupid to pass this up." and I'm utterly perplexed here. I said, "What?" and kept walking.

Does anybody know what the hell this guy could have possibly meant? Maybe it wasn't AIDS but like... aids. I don't know. I was just wondering if maybe it was something I should actually know about or if the guy was crazy.
  • #1

AIDS like the STD? It has a prince o.O? I think he may be selling drugs or something, Maybe he named the girl or dog that
  • #2

He was selling an Artificial Intelligence Destroying System.

And for 25 bucks, that's pretty great. You could take down skynet with one of those.

He was probably crazy, did he look like a homeless guy?
  • #3

Whoa I like your avi it's very... pretty? Yeah. And I don't know if he meant AIDS or aids, to be honest with you. He was trying to sell me something, I think. Possibly. I was so confused. I thought maybe there was like... some new term or something or drug. I don't know.

Needless to say, when someone says, "I have $25 worth in aids/AIDS" you stop and have a what the hell moment.
  • #4

Why thank you, Spark made it :3.

I think I would run....but I am underage....and a shut in so. Sorry I can be much help here. :P

Maybe the women was a prostitute and he was telling you how much she cost and that she also has AIDS.
  • #6

Alcohol-Induced Dribbly Shits? I guess you are paying $25 for some fine gut wrenching Tequila. I dunno.
  • #7

Purin told me that $25 for AIDS was too steep and I should have low-balled him to $5 to get a response out of him. I immensely regret not taking that action. Maybe I should go back.
  • #8

Seems legit, say its your birthday see if you can get a discount also :D :3
  • #9

But it's not my birthday until tomorrow. That would be lying. :x
  • #10

Wait...30 mins then :3 or how ever long you have left.
  • #11

Or you could have been like "So $25 worth? Meaning from you the girl or the dog?"
  • #12

The Pope has got it and so do you!

Or maybe he was selling the girl and the dog to you as aides.
  • #13

Dude, three aides for $25 dollars? What a deal!

You get in shape, or have them work on your work schedule, plan out your day. So many things!
  • #14

I'm really surprised nobody has figured this out yet (maybe it's just because of the town I live in). The fact that he said It's pretty dank almost certainly means he was talking about weed/pot/marijuana. AIDS is probably the a name of the 'strain' (in other examples: Kush, Purple Haze, Green Crack, Train Wreck, and a billion others, sometimes people just make them up on the spot). He was saying it was $25 a gram (which is a rip off by the way).

So yeah, that guy was totally a drug dealer.

I know absolutely nothing about drugs or drug dealers.
  • #16

I figured he was. People on street corners are always selling something, and if they don't have a stand set up, it's likely drugs. It's likely, Minty, you misheard "Aids" for some 'flavour' of marijuana.
  • #17

Cpt. BaconMan knows his shit when it comes to getting weed in the city .-., I think.
  • #18

Maybe. It sounded a lot like aids, even my boyfriend thought that's what he said. Anyways, drugs are ridiculous and people who use them are scum anyhow. Not counting like... actual drugs described by a doctor for an illness or something.
  • #19

I don't even live in the 'city'. My town is just riddled with meth and corruption. And yes, I do have experience with drug dealers (more than I care to talk about or think about), suffice it to say that I've had firearms pulled on me before. All I have to say on this subject is FUCK FUCKING DRUG DEALERS. I have had maybe three that were actually concerned about customer satisfaction. The rest have either ripped me off, robbed me, or treated me like their fucking errand boy.

Anyways, I don't know about where Minty lives, but that guy is an idiot and will probably get arrested soon. Trying to sell drugs to random people on the street is the fastest fucking way to wind your ass up in jail with a felony charge.

And don't worry guys, I stopped messing with those kinds of people a while back.

And I'm sorry, but that is an extremely ignorant view on drugs in general. Not even counting the illicit culture that revolves around it. The way a doctor would describe drugs literally encompasses anything that alters normal bodily function. In the medical world that is probably as vague as things get.

The idea that a certain drug is 'bad' is highly dependent on the culture surrounding it and the way it is used. The Inca chewed cocoa leaves for thousands of years, and even later cocaine became a popular 'tonic' in America. Then some dumbasses decided to make it a powder and snort it. Yeah cocaine is highly addicting, yeah it's bad for you if you injest too much (which is why people chewed the leaves and didn't eat them all). But you know what else is addictive and has similar effects? Caffeine, which is the most widely used psychoactive drug in the world.

Please tell me how weed is any worse than alcohol (Which is also by definition, a drug)?

What about the drugs (like LSD and Psilocybin mushrooms) that are virtually harmless, non addictive, and have even shown long term benefits in emotional health.

Here, this is a handy dandy chart to show you risk of dependency versus how easy it is to overdose.

And here is a chart of risk of dependency versus how much harm the drug does to your body.

That's right kiddies, the drug my doctor prescribed me for my ADHD is physically more harmful and addictive than pot (It's amphetamine by the way).

AND NOW YOU KNOW

Drugs are drugs are drugs, they should be judged on an individual basis and not by the fact they're called drugs, which is a term dripping with retarded (and mostly untrue) connotations.

Keep in mind that addiction and dependence are highly influenced by the reason for use, dosage used, method of intake and frequency of use.

For instance, someone who takes one pill of Avinza (morphine sulfate, I believe) a day as prescribed by a doctor for 10 years will likely be physically dependent but not addicted, whereas someone who directly injects morphine in their bloodstream for a psychological factor several times a day for a month will be doing so at a higher dose in a more direct path to the brain, more frequently and will likely become addicted and need the drug to feel the desired emotion (psychological dependence) as well as a chemical dependency. The person taking Avinza for 10 years can detox and adapt to life without it rather quickly, while the person abusing it for a month will be in some way dependent on it the rest of their lives.

Therefore, in most cases (not all), it isn't the drug that's bad but the way the user uses it.

I've known some good people who use cocaine and marijuana, but I really wish they would stop. From my perspective, doing any of that stuff, alcohol included, without some sort of medical condition that requires it is just a bad idea. Yes, some are less harmful than people think they are, but there are still all sorts of problems that these things cause, and I don't think anyone wants to become dependent on some sort of substance in order to keep stable mental health. I've had to deal with some serious emotional problems at the hands of my ADHD medication before, this stuff is not to be underestimated. :( Some of the more shady ones can get you into some very bad situations, and involved with some seriously scum people.
And if I could find decaf coffee that tasted any good, trust me, I would jump on that shit like a starving panther.

People also underestimate how easy it is to get into drugs if everyone around you does them to. Oh but it's still their-SHUTUP. From a sociological perspective, if you're introduced to drugs without ever knowing about their harmful side effects and everyone else did them to and said they were awesome, of fucking course you would do them.

Why do you think cocaine was abused so much in the 70s? THEY THOUGHT IT WAS FUCKING GOOD FOR YOU.

All I'm trying to say is, just because someone does, has become addicted to, or dependent on, drugs, it doesn't mean they're at fault. But then again it doesn't necessarily make them the victim either.
  • #23

Oh, of course not. I would never fault someone for being addicted/dependent on drugs. I said it was a bad idea, not a crime. :O Edit: Yeah, bad choice of words. Crime here is a hyperbole.
Going into it knowing that they're harmful and addictive just to get some sort of buzz or high, however, is indeed incredibly stupid. But that's another issue entirely. And given some of the situations people get into, I can still hardly fault them for wanting that high so bad.

Well, technically it is a crime, depending on the user's age and choice of drug. Bacon Man's points have been valid--public perception of harm is what determines legality, not actual danger in using it.

Now refusing to use something like this because it's not "medically necessary" is stupid. EVERYTHING effects your mind. Getting praised or earning extra cash causes the same chemical reaction as getting high. Frankly, everything has either a positive or negative effect on your mindset, so why would you single drugs out? There are a ton of more logical reasons. Take my example for drinking less caffeinated sodas that I have until recently--it can trigger a manic episode. Same logic goes with getting drunk--my meds intensify the effects, to the point where just a few beers can make me stop breathing. And smoking weed? The active component, THC, has mild hallucinogenic properties, which is basically begging for it to trigger my psychosis. It is also logical to refrain from alcohol if you know it effects your judgement, or refrain from getting high because it impedes your productivity or social life. There are a number of very logical reasons not to drink or do drugs, so you don't need a lack of a medical reason to justify it.

FYI: I consider getting high equal to getting drunk. Some recent commotion over products sold in cigarette shops uses the "getting high is bad" argument, which is stupid when the same people go to these shops to buy booze. This kind of logic is stupid. If you want to ban something, do it because of health risks, NOT that it alters your mind, otherwise you may as well ban Coca Cola, Coffee, Jack Daniels and chocolate.
  • #25

All of that is definitely true. Health risks are the reason I don't like these things, I just also don't like that people ignore the health risks because they like the mind altering part. You also seem to be quite a bit more informed on this issue than I am, so allow me to concede any remaining disagreements on the premise that I trust you to know what you're talking about. :O

I don't care if it's ignorant. Drugs destroyed a good portion of my family. DRUGS ARE BAD MMKAY. >:(

Not just street drugs either. My aunt was addicted to pain pills. There's no reason for anyone to do things like heroin. That shit will kill you. :/ Don't try to convince me otherwise.

I should have said the addiction is bad, I suppose.
  • #29

Man, Bacon, all my drug dealers have been nice middle class white kids.
  • #30

There's so many people taking drugs and medication and I feel left out.
I take antibiotics sometimes...

Nah, I'm really turned of drugs because about 80% of my aunties and uncles on my mother's side are crackheads and absolute tossers. I try to distance myself from them as much as I can (not just because they've used drugs) and having anything comparable to them makes me feel bad about myself.
I've been offered dope from a guy at school, but I turned it down because I had nobody to smoke it with. It was peer-pressure the applied the other way around, none of my friends want to touch drugs, simply just because they feared the persecution. Which is a silly reason.
Edit: If it makes more sense to you, I'm not blood related to those aunts and uncles.

@Jerk, damnit. Those are the only good dealers I've had. The rest are ghetto trash for the most part, and all they're concerned with is gettin' money.

@Minty, Sorry if I came off a little strong there, I just didn't really appreciate me and my friends being called scum by someone who hasn't been in our position. I know how you feel though, I can't even count on both hands how many times I've watched one of my childhood friends succumb to meth or get so bad on oxycodone that they can't go 15 minutes without a hit. It's fucking heartbreaking, and the main reason they got into that shit is because they live in Toccoa. When you're dirt ass poor, and you can't find a job (trust me there isn't anywhere to get hired here, I don't even have a job at the moment) drugs become a very enticing option to escape the fact that you live in a shit hole and you have no future (but then again I do have rich friends that have gotten into that shit). Plus, the legality placed on lesser drugs just opens up a slew of black market bullshit. If weed and other less harmful drugs were legal and sold in dispensaries, the market for the harder to get (but stronger and more dangerous) drugs would fucking plummet because they wouldn't have the support of the more popular stuff.

Yes, pills, meth and crack are fucked up and nobody should do them, and yeah it's somewhat their fault for doing them, but I'm not a fuck up just because I choose to smoke some fucking pot every now and then to unwind.

I'd say the only drug I'd be willing to try would be pot because it's the safest. But I do not think I would like prison life, and I don't think it's worth the risk.

@Minty Did this guy look like a drug addict or a dealer?

What I'm getting from this thread is:
  • medicinal drugs are A-OK
  • Marijuana is A-OK
  • Alcohol isn't
  • Any other illicit drugs aren't

If I were to do a drug, it'd be marijuana, because it's the only one I know wasn't made in a basement by some sketchy chemist. It was grown, and plants are natural.

This rarely happens, but it has happened to me a few times. Mostly they use pills, as cocaine and LSD are really fucking expensive compared to most of the weed out there. Plus LSD isn't addictive dude, the only way it's addictive is in the same sense that video games and internet are addictive, everything in moderation dude, too much of anything and you get fixated on it. Plus I can't imagine how you would want to be tripping balls constantly. Or maybe you're referring to one of the 10 billion designer drugs (like 2C-I, although that isn't addictive or deadly either) that uneducated people call LSD on the street because who the fuck wants to buy a drug they've never heard of?

Also when you get laced weed it's extremely obvious, but I guess it might be confusing for a first timer. If it's already ground up and abnormally white or blue than it might be laced. But when you smoke it that should immediately tell you from the taste.

Alcohol is okay as long as you don't go get shitfaced more than once every week or two, learn your limits. Getting drunk should never be a regular thing for you, being an alcoholic is no fucking joke, and it turns into a lifelong battle. Going to college may make you walk the line a few times. But yeah, people die because they do the whole fucking 21 shots on their 21st birthday thing. Sometimes people die because they pass out and drown in their own puke. It's sad when I see people get retarded drunk and throw up all over themselves. Plus I can't tell you how many parties I've been to when two dudes get into a fight because someone had an ego trip. You'll never see someone act like that on anything other than stimulants (or PCP, do not ever do this drug). Although, people who take pills might stumble around and puke all over themselves too, it just depends on how much they took and what drug.

By the way THC is what gets you high in weed. Read up on it.

But yeah, Skmojo, my advice to you if you ever start to do any sort of drugs is to LOOK THAT SHIT UP before you do it.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER MOTHA FUCKA

This is a common misconception. A molecule is what it is no matter what it's source. A lot of the drugs and pills out there have active ingredients that come from plants. Cocaine for instance comes from cocoa leaves. There's also Opium. Ecstasy's main ingredient comes from a plant.

On that note, if you're ever interested in that, ask if it's Molly, because if it's not pure MDMA it might be cut with more dangerous drugs.

Plus most of the pharmaceuticals we've manufactured throughout history have been derived from 'natural' sources. There are plants out there that are much worse for you than anything we've made in a lab. (Unless you're going to count cyanide capsules or something, but then again even that is found in nature, just not in that high concentrations)

You see this? It's called a Castor plant, and just one of those little beans can can an adult within a minute or two of eating it.
