*looks around* I don't think this topic already exists...

Anyway, are there any words that you just don't like, not because of what they mean, but more because they sound weird?

Like "alumni." For some reason, it just bugs the crap out of me.

Pet Peeves. I'm fairly sure your topic is just a sub-category of this.

For me, it's mostly when people pronounce certain words a different way from how I am used to hearing it, but both ways are correct, so I can't 'correct' them for it.

Yeah, go to "Pet Peeves" or maybe "Verbal Tics".

Edit: It's a pet peeve of yours so it could probably go there, and if it generates a bigger discussion than expected maybe it can become its own topic.

"Pet Peeves," is about things people do.
"Verbal Tics" is about annoying post writing, this is about words themselves, not how they are used or people using them.

I understand the difference between this word and the word “specially” but it’s in usage, not meaning. I can’t think of another word pair with identical meaning and a single letter difference that are differentiated by usage like this. GTFO you stupid “E”.

It sounds so lazy to me. “I drank and now I’m drunk.” Learn to comically mispronounce inebriated while you’re wasted!

I hate it when I am talking to someone and they pause to say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Or was it when they said um? I am mixing those up.

It's never used to refer to an actual gangster, but always an annoying rapper or something like that.
If you need to tell people that you're ´´Gangsta`` then you fail miserably at everything.
Just use ´´Thug`` instead.

Pretty much anything taken from a meme. It's like the icing on top of the faggot cake.

Name-dropping counts under this category too.

However, I dislike it because it a word with no necessary meaning.
Um exists because it works as a place holder of varying length. supercalifragilisticexpialidocious exists as a joke which is its own punch line and which became funny because so many people thought it was funny aka a meme.
In both cases a tall glass of shut the hell up and calm down would work better.
Even if they just replaced "um" with "a tall glass of shut the hell up and calm down." That would be so confusing and entertaining.
