So Long Goodbye
"So you're moving away?"
Lucy's hands trembled at her sides. After a long time, Mike finally replied without looking up from his work.
"Yeah. Tomorrow."
his voice was so blank, so blase. Anger flared up within Lucy. How could he just go and do that just
for the sake of one girl? He was leaving, letting down all of his friends. He was leaving her, for crying out loud.
That wasn't right. It just wasn't fair. Why did he have to go and do that all of a sudden?
"WHY do you have to be such dick?" Lucy exclaimed, shoving her chair back and slamming her hands down on the table. "You're not allowed to just... leave like that!" In spite of her rage, tears spilled out of her eyes.
Mike didn't bother to look up from his work, or even acknowledge her. The rage continued to build inside her. She was so mad, so pissed. Screaming at him, she shoved him back and tossed his papers to the floor. His chair lost balance, and he hit the ground with a dull thud.
He stood up, glared at her. Lucy glared him back, defiant, despite the tears she fought to keep from soaking her cheeks.
Without warning, Mike grabbed her shoulders and shoved her from across the table. Lucy lost her balance and stumbled backwards, slamming into a wall.
MIke's face was like a stormcloud, and his eyes glared at Lucy in hate.
"Why do you have to be such a bitch!?" Mike screamed. "Leave me fucking alone!"
Yelling angrily, he brought his fists down on the table in a resounding bang. "Why do you have to stick to me like a leech!? Why can't you just fuck off!?"
All the flare went out of Lucy, replaced by a pounding fear.
I take it all back. I take it all back. I'm sorry I'm sorry. She opened her mouth to speak, but her throat seemed to constrict, and Mike had started yelling again.
"You are the only bad thing in my life! If you're gone, my life would be perfect!" Mike's voice kept on rising, bursting with anger. "I would have probably moved anyway because of you, even if it weren't for Sandy! I want you out of my life!!"
Suddenly, all the energy seemed to escape from him, and he dragged his chair up from where it had fallen and sank into it, supporting his head in his hands.
A numb sensation started in Lucy's heart and spread through her body like a cold fire, weakening her limbs. She slid down the wall.
"I...I didn't mean to yell," she offered weakly.
As a response to this, Mike slowly stood up and turned his feet towards the door. "I don't want to see you again." He said tiredly. "Tomorrow, I want to say goodbye to my real friends before I leave."
And then he was gone. Lucy heard his footsteps echoing on the stairs. Heard the door slamming shut. He was gone.
She'd screwed up again.
Lucy buried her face in the crook of her arms. She'd lost him again, the stupid idiot that she was, except this time, she'd lost him permanently.
she was so stupid. The tears started up again, streaming down her cheeks and dripping to the floor. Her head throbbed.
"You screwed up."
Abruptly, Lucy attempted to stop her sobs and wiped her tears away, and glared as irritatingly as she could at the storm-colored cat standing beside her open bedroom window, a guitar case slung across his back.
Not him, not right now. She needed a chance to be alone with her thoughts.
"Do you mind, Aaron!?" she hissed at him. "I've got enough on my mind already without you guessing what I'm thinking all the time!"
Aaron studied Lucy thoughtfully. "You've had another fight with Mike," he stated.
Lucy's irritation and exasperation spilled over. "Stop doing that!" She exclaimed.
"Doing what?"
"You know what I'm talking about!"
"No, I don't."
God, he knew how to get on her nerves. "How you keep repeating what I'm thinking! it's so goddamn annoying!"
Aaron's face remained unchanged. "I was outside your window the whole time, Lucy."
She was taken aback, and all the energy seemed to drift out of her again. She sank back against the wall. "You know he's moving away?"
Aaron squatted down and sat cross-legged opposite her. "Lucy, everybody knew he was going away for a long time," he said.
annnnd that's all I have time for today! i'll continue it later when I got time.

Let's just say for a second, for the sake of the story, that Mike's and Sandy's tree is a bit off of the school grounds, through a small town and through
A tumult of thoughts thrived within Lucy's mind as she walked steadily through the town streets, too preoccupied with thinking to do anything more than move at a steady pace and keep her head focused on the sidewalk in front of her.
