What made you frown today? Let's brighten your day

So I noticed that the forum lacks a topic like this. It's in the title, so you know what to do.
What made you angry, and or sad today?

I was hoping that we can actully give advice to eachother to turn that frown upside-down. ^_^ (how cheesy)

Oh boy, here comes the depression! <__<

But to be serious, I was trying to get in contact with someone today, but time conflicts made it impossible, so yeah, that sucked. :[

Isn't this just like the rage thread in detention? Oh well, I guess it's not just like it, but it serves the same purpose as a general bitching thread.

Though as for what made me frown (yesterday), just look at the what made me smile thread. Up until the resolution of the matter, it was an extremely frustrating 2-week-long event. It just happened to end well.

Storm, this is the what made you FROWN today thread. You're in the wrong thread.

Not getting to bed until 4 AM, having a weird dream and getting shitty sleep. If I ever find out what asshat with my insurance company greenlit them to refuse to pay for my Paxil, there will be a verbal asskicking for this shit.

Consequently, I have now been one full week without my antidepressant. That's certainly not something that'll make me happy.

I went to a school dance with my friends, but my crush ended up getting ditched by her GF. That's just not right, and pissed me off.

I'm part of an organization called DECA. Today was our State Competition DECA Confrence (SCDC) This is also the time when new State Officers (students who manage our states DECA program) are elected. Me and my friend from school ran for different positions. He ran for President and I ran for VP of membership. We both lost. I was really pissed when my friend lost. This was his last chance at running for office. And what sucks even more it that the people who I wanted to win for the other officer positions (there are 6 positions) didn't make it either. Overall, the day was pretty depressing. But at least I got 1 last chance next year.

Finding out that my Medicare Prescription Plan is flat out refusing to cover my Paxil. It's been over a week since I had it; finding out today that they're rescinding on their stance on my medications from November (that all 5 of them were covered) instead of simply asking for pre-approval like they were a week ago, I'm rather frustrated and (as one would expect) depressed.
  • #16

It's bullshit that the government wont pay for your medication, but they have Medicaid's policies written so that poor people can get a free $5000 taxi ride to the hospital when their kid has a tummy ache. (I know they need assistance, but paramedics can't refuse to take them to the hospital, even if they know without a doubt they're fine).

And that's money tax payers have to dole out. It wouldn't be so bad, but even in a small city like mine (around 10,000 people), this is something that happens at least once a day. Imagine how bad it is in a place like Atlanta?
  • #17

This isn't Medicaid, it's MEDICARE. The money to pay for the prescriptions comes from my drug plan's premiums. It's not the government's fault, but this particular drug plan's failure to live up to the promises they made when I enrolled in November.

A 250 dollar ambulance ride (yes, local ambulances only charge 250 dollars for a ride, and Medicaid doesn't pay unless it's an emergency) is irrelevant, not only because the medication isn't optional but because the money doesn't even come from the same place.
  • #18

Every time I hear about this stuff I just keep wondering how fucked up the US system must be.

From what I've gathered our practically free health care would probably be seen as some form of extreme socialism in there, though.
  • #19

It's weird. Canadians have public healthcare, I don't know why so many Americans are opposed to it.

Today, when I was merchandising a grocery store, I noticed something behind one of the pallets in the backroom where all my company's shit is kept. Went to go kick it out of the way I notice fur and a long black. A dead rat, a big one. Lost my appetite and couldn't unsee it for a couple hours.

Also, on Friday night my girlfriend called and asked if I'd like to see a movie, and that she would pay for the tickets. So I figure "why not" and ask what movie she wants to see; "That Star Wars movie that's out in 3D".
Me: >:(
In the end, the movie was still mildly confusing and mediocre, but it would have been decent, especially since the 3D actually made it neater to watch, if it weren't for Jar Jar fucking Binks. Everytime that cock sucker opened his mouth I felt like punching my sweetheart in the arm... but I'm no Abraham, I have self control :smirk:

Oh, discovered that the coolest DVD and music store in the city, Zeus, closed down months ago. Where am I gonna get Godzilla DVDs now? I was not impressed >:(

I know, but they are both government healthcare systems. And sorry, I didn't understand.

Not where I am from (I was using hyperbole anyways, but it's more around $600+ here). Plus there are going to a hundred other nit pick fees from the doctor(s)' examination, especially if there is something wrong, no matter how minor. If the family/person literally doesn't have the money to pay for it, then it doesn't matter after the fact if it's an emergency or not, they just wont pay, but flashing their medicaid card gets them a free ride, medicaid can't send the patient a bill. There are people who do this shit several times a day, the paramedics call them 'frequent fliers', and they can't be refused a ride. And the hospital pays for it to, because the government doesn't reimburse all of the costs.

There are free clinics in my town, but some people under medicaid choose to ride in the ambulance to the hospital because they can abuse the system, they'll go to the hospital to get a sore throat treated, IN THE FUCKING ER. Trust me, I know all the paramedics where I live, they complain about this shit all the time. Anyways, just because you are poor doesn't make you a saint. My gripe is for every one person who does that there are ten people working a fast food job not making enough to even pay bills, but they get denied government aid because they make 'too much money'.

It's because a lot of people don't trust the government to handle anything that important. But honestly I don't see how leaving it up to the 'invisible hand of the market' is much better. The economy is not a self healing system.

I think what it really boils down to is that the middle class is getting fucked right now. The rich are hoarding their money, and welfare has become a trap for poor people. Welfare pays for everything unless you get even the lowest paying job, there is no transition, you start making money and the government yanks support. And the middle class pays for it on both ends.

It's just conservatives are bitching about the government helping the poor (and doing it poorly, ha), and liberals are bitching about corporations leeching the economy dry.

EDIT:
Here, I even found a paramedic bitching about these same things online.
Paramedic bitching about medicaid abuse

He is telling the truth medicare is not to be abuse. Obama once again shot in the dark with that one.
  • #25

What's the worse evil, having some people abuse the free system, or having some people who can't go to a hospital at all?

Well, in this case they're kind of correlated. The more medicaid abuse there is, the less money there is for the government to provide coverage for more people. It's as simple as that.
  • #28

Again another politican probably did not think ahead of things.
I believe that Obama had this problem before and didn't think how would humans react towards it.
or he probably looked at what takes the Americans money and researched on it.
  • #29

THIS IS NOT OBAMA'S FAULT. Fuck. The Medicaid Medicare system has been royally fucked with by republicans. Had the health care law been passed the way Obama had intended (completely government run healthcare) it would go a huge step toward ELIMINATING these kinds of fuckups. Why? Because corporations like Community CCRx would no longer be able to pull the stupid shit they're pulling here.

Christ.

Edit: they are not the least bit related, CBM. It's my Medicare Prescription drug plan that's fucking me over here, not Medicaid. Prescription Drug Plans are NOT government funded, they are private insurances that charge a premium, of which either some or all of that premium is paid for by Medicaid. Because they're using their PROFITS to pay for my prescriptions, a lack of government funding does exactly jack shit. If it was a funding issue, I'd have lost my plan entirely, but they are still paying for my Lithium 300mg, my Lithium 450 milligrams, my Geodon (250 dollars a bottle, about 6 times what my paxil costs) and my Ambien. They're legally obligated to pay for my Paxil since they advertised in November that they would cover this medication, but they aren't. It's not government funding that is fucking me over, but corporate greed.

Even if it were a government program, the budget cuts wouldn't effect me like this. The government cannot legally say "We're not going to pay for Carcharocles' important medication because we're spending too much on ambulances." It doesn't work that way.

Ever since Soulth came along, we have been getting some really stupid and education deprived people coming to this forum. Some of them have been already caught as Soulth's puppets, but I can't throw off the feeling that there are more...I appreciate the fact that at least Basket hasn't let down her guard. That annoying son of a bitch is getting on my nerves, and he refuses to give this site enough respect to at least realize that he is easy to spot. The kid has terribly ignorant logic, and just doesn't know how to keep it low. Might've got his spelling half decent, finally.

One of my friends claimed to had depression and gotten over it, but now says he wants depression again so he can be like his friends that are. Not only is it fucked up he is thinking that, but it bothered me into second and third period, attributing to be having a few mild freakouts that attracted a bit of unwanted attention. /:

No, iRussisch. You should not get a significant other just to try to be like everyone else. Instead, you should be true to yourself. People have various levels of libido, from a high sex drive down to none at all. And having no sex drive at all appears to be normal for you, so you should go with that rather than try to force anything.

FireOfUnknownOrigin is not SoulTH, but he is connected to Grinch and The Swimmer. I don't understand why he changed the name, since The Swimmer is a name used with no problem.

Though hilariously enough, Souppy compared FireOfUnknownOrigin to Gurren and realised that he didn't completely look through Gurren and noticed that he has been SoulTH. So Souppy lied to me and was too lazy to double-check even though I nagged him. So I guess that is what made me frown today, since I wanted to be really sure and when I was told he wasn't I wanted to convince people he was just another dumb and really annoying poster that is not related to SoulTH.

Nonetheless, I still think the whole retarded witch hunt is annoying and the forum rejects need to knock it off with getting shitty whenever the person posts. Just let me know and boom, it is not that difficult to ignore a person rather than shitting up topics with continual antagonising. It's unfortunate I have to keep coming into Recess and babysitting you guys, makes me wonder why I have Jerk/ILB assigned when they aren't doing their jobs.

Funny enough, the IRC has alerted me about this. So there we go, they are more effective at letting things be known than the actual recess posters.

Why feel bad for BasketCase? She wanted to act like an overinflated indignant forum leader type, and she had a great run while you all supported her and cheered her on.

This was stupid drama. It's unremarkable. The fact I made a mistake in determining whether or not SoulTH had yet another sockpuppet account should not have even mattered much if you had all done the right thing and ignored him instead of letting him become the topic of conversation for a week. Nobody should feel vindicated. Everyone should feel stupid.
