Just found this, it's all theories, but I'll be damned if it doesn't make a whole lot of sense An Analysis of the Flashbacks

It does seem to hold a lot of water. I'm tempted to just say that's the truth, but chances are that there will be some variation from the theory.

... As for Amon... does anyone think he's someone important? Or do you think he's just some random man who hates benders with a passion?

This theory about Tarlok, along with all of the references to characters from the first series, seems to point that this series is... a legacy, of sorts. So, if it holds true with Amon, he could be related to someone who hates benders... But was there anyone like that in the first series?

But I guess that theory about Tarlok kind of jumpstarted a theory of my own:

Of course, this is all told from the perspective of episode 8. I don't know if there's anything in episode 9 that would throw this all away.

That's a possibility as well.

But the question becomes: why? Has even the spirit world decided that the real world should no longer have bending?

Whoaaaaaa all the stuff that happened there.

I'm still amazed at it all. "Iroh"--is he the son of Zuko? I mean, he has the same voice and looks pretty similar. I suppose it would make sense, too.

And does anyone feel like Asami will betray the group because she felt unloved by Mako?

And they showed a close up of Amon's eyes... those are pretty scary looking... unless they're not part of the mask.

>:O Damn you M. Night Shamamamamalamallamadingadongaman. I totally read your post pronouncing Iroh as "eroh", like in the craptacualr live action film.

It's most likely General Iroh is Zuko's grandson.

And Asami doing that would be idiotic, in my opinion. She's not her father.

I don't think Asami will turn just because of Mako. she made it clear that while she was mad at Mako, she still likes Korra. She's not mad at Korra for her feelings for Mako (feelings that haven't really been explored since the kiss episode). she's upset that Mako has feelings for her.

i'm not the only one who is severely disappointed by how they're handling the story, right?
  • #63

Until Nick lets me watch the episodes they hardly air, I have to agree with you. It is moving, sort of slow form what I have seen. Did they expand on her lack of spirituality yet? That is something I wanted covered a bit more than making friends and doing this probending competition.

Zuko's voice sounds really odd coming out of someone who is very much not Zuko, even if it is likely his son.

I might just be reading too much into this, but Sato (is that how you spell it?) had a troubled expression after that, if I recall correctly...

I didn't catch too good of a look at his face, but yeah, he did look young. But does that mean that Zuko, as well as his son, had children earlier than Aang and Tenzin? That would explain the age difference, but the alternate explanation is that Zuko had a son later than Aang did, which would explain the general's age pretty well.

I guess it would be illogical, but it's that kind of diablous ex machina kind of crap that the unobservant viewer (a lot of people) would label as a "surprise twist." I guess it's more of a "I've seen something as weak as this pulled before, and I really hope it isn't done this time" kind of sentiment.

I could say that Asami doesn't hold loyalty to her allies perfectly--she left her father. But, that doesn't completely hold water because she left him for moral reasons, rather than negative emotions.

Well, I'm torn. There are a few diablous/deus ex machinas that happen--with a few, that's not a problem, but they tend to do it a lot. Of course, with pretty much any piece of fiction, if you deconstruct it enough you will find flaws. For example, why did Amon decide to suddenly attack Republic City out in the open? Is it the fact that all of the councilmen were subdued? That might justify weakness and unrest in the city itself, but surely Amon must have seen a big invasion coming as a result, right?

I guess it's a gambit... Maybe he hopes that the revolution in Republic City will awaken sentiments in non-benders worldwide and cause a revolution.

Well, this episode she displayed patience and Tenzin commented on it, but that's about the limits of it.

Actually wait, earlier, she...

It's not really a primary focus, but it's pretty clear that they're going to put emphasis on it when Korra is experiencing troubles.

no. i felt that this last episode could have been split into two. there was just too much shit going on and it felt rushed.

Yes, but the fortune teller also said "I didn't see anything" romance-wise with Aang, and then went on to say that people had the power to shape their own destiny.

It's a harrowing thought, that what you say could have happened, but I doubt they'll bring that up even if it did, especially since the mood of the next episode has been set to one of hope.

In the Republic City Interactive Game on Nick it reveals that, if you click the Zuko statue, Zuko did in fact have a daughter who is currently fire-lord, and since the crest General Iroh is wearing signify's Fire nation royalty that mean Iron is probably her son.
  • #70

Couldn't that also mean that Iroh is actually her younger brother? Although, I might be forgetting some fact that invalidates that possibility...

Or did it state that Zuko only had a daughter?

Seeing how young General Iroh looks, and how Tenzin, being the youngest out of Aangs children is 51 years old, that's one pretty big age difference if Iroh is Zuko's son. It's only mentioned one daughter.
  • #72

I gotta agree with Shada. Iroh looks way too young to be a direct son of Zuko. Grandson doesn't seem to be too far off. As far as I know, I've also only seen mention of Zuko having a daughter.

I enjoyed episode 10, though I feel terrible for Asami. Good for her for sucking it up and still being civil towards Korra, too. KorraxBolin forever :3

I guess it's over, then? I mean... really, there's only two things that I don't know the answer to.

Actually, wait, there's one more thing that's kind of unresolved.

I mean, they didn't seem to be implying that it was over--they said "season finale," after all, not "series finale."

But there are too few loose ends for there really to be another season... right?

That was a great season finale, though, unexplained things aside.

Just something I realized that... seems kind of cool.

Airbending style of fighting is characterized as flowing with the outside forces (such as how Korra dodged those shots in the tournament). And then I realized... Airbending was almost destroyed twice. Except, the first time, Aang came back and eventually ended the war and restarted the airbender heritage. The second time,

Both of these times are just like the airbending style of fighting... Does this make sense or am I just spewing bullshit? ;;
