Anyone else into the MOBA Scene?

To elaborate, anyone play Heroes of Newerth, League of Legends, or Dota 2? If you're not, then to explain, all 3 games follow very similar gameplay, but each has it's own thing that makes them differ

Gameplay

Game starts, you pick a character that you're going to control for the next 20-50min average game. the main point of the game is to rack up as much gold and exp as you can in the game, to buy more items to ultimately kill the characters on the hero's team, and push into their base. When a character (i'm going to refer to them as heroes for the rest of the text) dies, he has a short time before he respawns, and continue on with his game.

There are 3 lanes to the map you play on, and every 30 seconds, a wave of "creeps" is spawned. This is where you get gold from. By getting the last hit on an enemy creep, you get money for that kill, though you get kill for every enemy creep that dies in a small area. You also get gold and exp for killing heroes. Thats the basic idea of the game, in very very short terms. Here's a video of Heroes of Newerth gameplay if you're interested

I did play League of Legends for a few hours. Naturally, I got bored.

Yeah, I tried those games and I think I managed 5 games[just enough to get the basics down] before I got bored of all hell of it.

All the people who I see playing league of legends at school are the people who then play yu gi oh afterwards while shouting old unfunny 4chan memes. Just sayin'. There are never any computers open in the lab during lunch because every one of those fuckers is playing this game.

I'm not a very big fan of the DOTA scene, I'd rather just play a legitimate RTS game. Although I did enjoy Monday Night Combat which is the equivalent of a MOBA but in a third person shooter format.

I play League of Legends regularly. Level 30 already.

My summoner names are 'Zoe Stellan' and 'LuminoRay'.

I have Heroes of Newerth too, but I barely play it due to feedback in the system being too positively high.

I play League of Legends intermittently. I'm only like, level 6 or so because I don't play it very often. Honestly I'm more into MMORPGs than I am MOBAs, but I find the gameplay a nice change every once in a while.

one of my friends has played league of legends for 3000 hours

Theres this game called DotA 1. I think its a moba. Mebbe even spawned every game you mentioned. Mebbe still being developed.

Just mebbe iono im just rex

Anyway, I used to be pretty big into DotA. I sucked, but I was into it. I've also been in the DotA 2 beta for a long time. Dabbled in LoL, but the graphics alone are enough to put me off.

Sooooo, I recently bought this game called Awesomenauts that's supposed to be a 2D moba game. But its got much more of an arcadish, team fortress, smash bros feel to it. Has anyone else played it?

Still have no fucking clue what League of Legends is.

What is it? "Baby's First Strategy Game" or something?

nope
maximum nope ahead

From the looks of it, it seems like it inherits the interface of strategy games (e.g. Starcraft, C&C...) but focuses on the control of a single unit or small number of units rather than managing an entire army. Back in the days when I played them, some strategy games actually had a few single-player missions implying the use of a single elite unit, this moba thing might be quite similar.

Morbidly Obese Bloody Assassination came to mind immediately, which I totally am in for. But I do not think that is what this stands for..

Is it multiplayer online somethine something? I don't game much at all.

Except Harvest Moon. Because chickens.

League of legends is a game based of the game Defence of the Ancients (dota) which is a mod/custom map for warcraft 3 which is immensely popular. thus having spawned all these stand alone games and spin-off's.

I play LoL since it's the only game that wants to cooperate with my easy bake oven computer. I really like the speed and graphic style of it, and well as the super poor person that I am I can barely afford the subscription fee for league :<
I'd actually try them all out if I had the money or the time. I'm content with league until then. I even started making videos them and stuff.

LoL is free

EVE Online is more appealing to me then than DOTA-esque games.
Though I really don't have the time to justify paying for a subscription to that.

I played it a little bit with friends but in between World of Tanks, World of Warcraft, Touhou and Axis and Allies, I decided I already had too many addictions.

The only good MOBA is Dota 2.

My indian friend plays league of legends. So does my filipino friend. And so does this really short korean girl I know. I'd try it out, but my computer is 6-7 years old.

I play League of Legends quite frequently, sitting at about 321 wins currently and I'm starting to go into ranked 5v5 and I'm 3 for 3. I'm a huge League nerd but I've never been a fan of other MOBA's like Heroes of Newerth or DOTA2 because the art style and inaccessibility due to FPS on my potatoputer. (And by art style I mean that I can barely understand my health bar half the time, League of Legends really simplifies everything that should be simplified)

I play League sometimes. Not that often. Normally I have better crap to do, which means I really don't see the point in spending money on a game when I will probably very rarely play it, but there's no point in playing a supremely crappy game either. Leagues just above that. Barely. Keeps getting crappier though. Usually I just play stuff on my old duct taped together DS and SP.

(Disgaea is more fun anyway dood... *runs away*)
