PAGES SOLD: ALL OF THEM!!!! IT IS OVER.



Interested in owning a page from the first BCB chapter ever to be sold? Since our old scanner is dying and the only one suitable to replace it is big and expensive, we wanted to do our first fundraiser.

If you can contribute $75, we'll email you scans of this entire chapter (yes, today!), and you can take your pick. It's first come first served, so be quick!

The scanner we want is an Epson Perfection 10000XL. It retails for $2500+, but used ones go for about half that. There are cheaper A3 scanners, but they tend to be designed for office use (read: poor colour reproduction.) I spent a few days researching scanners, and this seems to be the most suitable for our needs.

Now, this is more than I thought a large scanner would cost, and even the priced for a used one is a little bit beyond our means right now. But if we can get some reader support to foot the majority of the bill (we'll still be putting in $400 or so), we can make a really great investment for the future of BCB and Veronica's other work!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• If $75 is too much but you still wanna help, feel free to send a smaller donation. This is kind of a simple donation drive, but we always try to offer readers something for their kindness!
  
• All 17 pages have been painted. So as soon as we see your donation, we'll send you the whole chapter - and you can take your pick of the page you'd most like to own (first paid first served). Keep it secret from other readers~!
  
• We will send you the original page in the mail as soon as we get it scanned on the new scanner. This could be a month or two, depending on how long it takes to find a good deal for the scanner.
  
• If we don't make the fundraising goal by selling every page, it's okay - we'll live with a cheaper scanner and stitch images together until we can afford the big one. We will still send the chosen pages to anybody who paid.
  
• At this stage we're not planning to sell any other original pages, but we might consider it for later. These are the most beautiful pages of the comic we can give away, however- all traditional, no digital tweaks. They look much nicer in person than on the screen.

Yeah, of course there's no obligation for you guys to do anything. Being a regular reader is cool enough! But for those who have really wanted to own an actual page from the comic, this helps us while providing something a lot of people were asking for.

I finally got payed. So I can spare like 10$-15$ Then the rest sadly has to go to food and some clothes I need -.-

EDIT: Well by sadly I meant I wish I could spend some extra cash on hobbies or a game or something.

As much as it's nice to have proper colour reproduction, food and clothes are a little more important! Thank you, though - I'm hoping this grabs a bit more interest too (if only because I'll be stuck stitching together hundreds of three-part scans if we end up having to buy another standard size scanner.)

So far, two pages have sold. I'll be emailing those people the full comic in a bit!

Hey SuitCase, have you considered setting up a kickstarter? That would be a good way to show incentives and show the donation amount and all that.

If we do a Kickstarter, it wouldn't be for a haphazard scanner breakdown. This is much less of a project and more of an "eek, massive unexpected cost, can you help" thing.

Almost halfway there! Thanks to everybody concerned. (And for those who contributed, please give me a little time to scan the whole comic. I only did half of it :-[ )

I would offer some help, but the card linked to my paypal was cancelled recently, so until I get the new one I have no way to send money online.

You have poor timing, I just used all of my money on other stuff.
If only this had come out a week or so earlier...

PM sent. I actually emailed everybody about the BCI stuff, but it looks like a lot of people use different emails to what they subscribed with. You basically just have to renew.

There are only 6 pages left! I haven't emailed anybody pages yet because I need to scan the rest of the chapter (I realised I only had done up to page 7) but when I do, don't worry! Everybody will get their preferences in order of payment.

Everybody who has paid for a page should have just received their email with the full chapter. I'll get back to them ASAP with the page they will receive based on their preferences. Please email me if you paid for a page but haven't got this email.

Also, I realised this is a 17 page chapter! So, 10 pages taken, 7 pages left!

A very kind patron has asked that I set aside his page to give to somebody else. I think it'd be fair to send that page to whoever sent us a smaller contribution closest to $75, so, er, if you don't mind having whichever page is left last, there's something for you. I think the closest small donation was $20.

As for the regular pages - 5 are left.

Good thing I just got my income tax return. Done and done.

Just bought a page, I am rather nonchalant about which I actually get.

Well, I've sent over $85, hope it helps you guys, I don't really have a preffered page, so anything'll do.

Everybody else who paid for a page, you should have either been notified of which one you've received, or you're one of the last 7 and you're waiting for me to tell you which you got. It all hinges on Lvl 50, but as soon as I get his preference I'll let you know.

SO!!

The fundraiser is over, we ordered the scanner, and all is well!

We ended up finding a great deal for our desired Epson 10000XL on eBay. This UK seller listed two of them for £450 each, used with some exterior scratches. I immediately asked the seller if the glass was flawless (which is the only real important thing) but before he responded, one of the scanners sold! Luckily, by that point I got a response, and I immediately bought the remaining scanner.



That's $727 USD for the scanner and $428 for shipping. So, about $1150! This seems like a lot (given the shipping) but is well under what I expected.. $1500 or so. Whatever we thought we'd need to chip in ourselves, we no longer need to chip in.

Plus, thanks to the original miscount and a few generous people who donated more than $75 or smaller amounts just to help us out, we have a lot left over! Which has been super useful and is so helpful and kind of all of you. While I'd like to say "with all the money, we'll buy an X we always wanted", to be honest we're more interested in paying down a ton of bills right now, so we're better prepared for upcoming expenses on Volume 2, new charms, etc. All will be put to good use!

So, thank you so much for being amazingly great fans, no matter how much you were able to contribute. You'll see the results pretty soon, I hope - the scanner should be here by the end of next week, and so non-streaky scans on the site will follow.
