In a way, the last panel on this newest page kinda reminds me of something you'd see in a Calvin and Hobbes strip.
Chapter 70: Piece of Cake
So now Paulo's starting to really consider his relationship. He has a lot of fun with Jasmine (when he gets to see her), but he's now realized that he actually loves Lucy more. He'll need to think it over and come to a conclusion himself, since his dad doesn't seem to want to get too involved.
We know Paulo's not a cheater, though. He'd break things off with Jasmine before he did anything with Lucy. Though that'd be sort of a risk, chasing after a girl who might not necessarily be ready for another relationship at this point. Or would Lucy be vulnerable enough to succumb to a rebound relationship (again)?

After reading the latest page, it's clear that Paulo loves Lucy more than Jasmine, and as already pointed, he has to at least break up with Jasmine (provided that she understood his reasons) before he could start up a relationship with Lucy.
I do wonder how Mike will react when he sees Paulo and Lucy together, that is, if such a scenario would ever occur.
Another great page so far and looking forward to the next one on Monday.

I think Paulo already proved that he's not the kind of person to take advantage of a desperate girl. Lucy may have misunderstood it for a rejection at the time, but she has to appreciate it in retrospect.

Fortunately, I do think Jasmine would bounce back relatively well from a break-up. It's only a first relationship for her, and she knows it.

Next chapter: Paulo sets out to make Mike's life absolute hell. And once Paulo does that, it's only a matter of time until Augustus finds out... (And for that matter, the entire school. Including Haley and Jordan. And Sue. That's not going to be pretty.) Not that I don't think Mike abandoning Lucy wasn't the right decision - it was. He probably could have been a bit gentler with her, though. But in any event, even good decisions can have negative consequences, and I suspect that Mike will be facing those consequences awfully soon.

I think the watercolours are absolutely splendid. The art has been really pleasing on the eyes recently.

I find myself steadily wishing more and more that it is Paulo, rather than any of the others, that gets a happy ending. However, I suspect the ending will be quite happy for several parties, so my despondent thought is probably quite unnecessary.

What if the ending is bittersweet, like a certain candy bowl? Had you considered that, ILB? 
Jasmine always seems to have something or other which gets in the way of seeing more of Paulo. Though to be fair, she doesn't have a great deal of control over where her family chooses to spend the holidays. It's probably a miracle she persuaded her parents to let her stay up for Tess' New Year's party. Speaking of which, I didn't know Tess had a New Year's party as well as a Christmas party. That gal sure loves her parties. Any bets she'll get even more drunk this time? She may have plenty of company, because there'll be misery enough to go around.
Paulo can fantasize about kissing Jasmine all he wants, but Lucy still lurks in his thoughts. And now that she's phoned, she'll no doubt be wanting a sympathetic ear as she pours out her troubles. ^ I like that. I'll be very satisfied if the last page is a montage of Mike getting his ass kicked, waking up in a hospital, finding out that he's paralyzed, and weeping because he missed Sandy's visit.

Paulo and Lucy don't have a chance until Lucy learns something from Mike calling her on being a cunt and grows up. If Paulo white-knights for Lucy, he's going to get his ass handed to him for no reason and look like an idiot. He's dumb, but he's not an idiot. Not yet.

I agree, Lucy does need to learn from her mistakes and grow past her dependency on Mike. That's what maturation is all about.
Paulo might well be blinded by rage and eventually lose a fight with Mike because of that, but I doubt Mike'd get off scot-free in any kind of serious fight either. They're fairly evenly matched, it'd be quite a battle. Though it may not even come to that: if Lucy sees that Paulo's mad at Mike on her behalf, she may ask him not to touch Mike.

You can't really expect her not to change for the better. its a matter of when, not if. i doubt anybody considers the earning potential of a possible bf/gf in high school either, unless you're in some sort of private boarding school or finishing school whete daddy needs an eligible suitor to receive his dowry.

I have, in fact, considered the possibility - however, it is still a candy bowl, which I feel is rather the whole end note. ^_^
Besides, the word indicates the presence of sweetness. I never said I thought that everybody would end up happy.

That's just wildspec though. I still sort of expect Lucy to tell Paulo to leave Mike alone, even if Paulo wants to beat his ass. If Lucy's been thinking about the events of "December", she'll have realized it's time to move past Mike, and to simply leave him alone and not bother him.

Lucy... appears dank. There must be something we have not caught up on yet. Her panel, and also her earlier panels, are really rather grey. Did something extra happen that we just do not know of yet, or is it just a mutation of her earlier, well, let us call them failures? Perhaps Paulo's visit and the cake he delivered somehow made it clearer to her that he is committed and she has lost another chance.
Of course, she is not likely to have lost either of them just yet.
